Boiler Not Heating | What could it be?
Oil Boiler Furnace with a bad brand new thermostat. Sometimes they are just bad out of the box. This was just a simple fix, fortunately.

Trane Heat Pump kills ANOTHER compressor | What could be causing this Mess | HVAC Service 2024
มุมมอง 6K14 วันที่ผ่านมา
On this Job I found that a company had replaced the Compressor on a Brand New 2021 Trane Heat Pump system and now the new compressor is bad. Problem is, they didn’t do any kind of load calculation on the home during the install of the system to see if the duct work was sized correctly. Due to this they installed a system on duct that was to small. This is causing many issues as far as making th...

If static pressure is too high on this unit, would lowering the blower fan speed help? The temps past the coil may be a little higher (heat) and lower (cooling).
@@jbsimmons54 Yes it could help but with a static that high even on the lowest blower speed your still going to have a slightly high static and the unit will not preform well. You will also pay more in the power bill because it will never shut off due to trying to reach temp.
I had the EXACT SAME THERMOSTAT fail on 2 boiler systems. I installed that useless over engineered "Honeywell Home CT87K1004 The Round Heat Only Manual Thermostat". Do you know that is has a 3v BUTTON BATTERY in it?! I put it in my Father-in-Law's house where it is connected to a TACO zone valve. It did not work. I did the same procedure as you and tied the Red and White together to make sure the zone worked, and it did. I then bought the Honeywell round thermostat to my house to test it. My thermostats are connected directly to a TACO Zone Valve Control unit (ZVC403). The thermostat failed on that, too. Well the thermostat didn't fail, IT NEVER WORKED. Honeywell needs to do better. I installed a basic no-name electronic thermostat for my Father-in-Law. (I tore apart that Honeywell to get to the non-serviceable battery to test it and yes, it was OK at 3v DC)
I be would of put The air scrubber on the return.
@@BROTHERSHVAC it is not made to go in the return, it is designed for supply air. Not gonna preform like it should in the Return.
Gotta change the flux capacitor
When you have 29 volts at TT terminals, you known the thermostat circuit is not closed.
@@john7017 Yeah lol Cant believe I let that go over my head, sometimes we gotta get lost in the weeds to learn.
He checked for voltage at ff first hahaha
Great job. could you have jumped it down stairs to confirm or lead to bad thermostat?
@@petergriffin1546 Yes I could have jumped it out downstairs at the Furnace. Just done it at the thermostat out of habit.
@@HometownHVAC Better to test the wiring lines from the thermostat, especially after seeing that inferior "clothesline" wiring job flapping in the wind.
The second you said they jus got a new tstat, I already knew that was the culprit
I don’t wish you any bad luck but wearing metal jewelry can be hazardous if accidentally grounded.
Nice job, but you should have trimmed off the shaft for the fan motor
@@ronaldbrosius7488 Why? It fit in there just fine, no need to cut it.
I dont trust those supco meggohmeter. About 2 years ago i bought one and tried it on a bad compressor and it displayed bad on the device witch is what i expected since my meter had found it to be grounded before i hooked up the megger, then i tried it on the second stage compressor since its a trane voyager and it tested bad, i ohmed out the other one with the meter and it checked out good, I even disconnected the grounded one and left the other one connected and it came on. The compressor was not overamping or locked or anything. Definitely recommend the klein tools megger.
Just make sure its discharged.😊
Man I miss running flat track races.. FYI.. them guys in the frnt of the pack, are leaving you due to your coasting coming to the corners, fyi.. I noticed you almost never use your front brakes.. You are missing a bunch of time, by not charging deeper into the corners, you use your front brakes for a really quick hard stab, which puts the weight on your front tires to rotate the bike, as you release the front brake, you flick the bars, and clutch it to rotate the bike, and the clutch flick, also transfers the weight from the front, quickly to the rear, which is where you want the weight to go as you exit.. It takes a lot of practice, but I learned from a pro atv MX/GNCC racer.. Its insanely fast, its a motion you will use in all kinds of situations too, clutch in, front brake, and rear brake, all together, then you move your ass to the inside of the corner, only one cheek on the seat edge, as you release the brakes, you release the clutch quick, with a good amount of throttle, as you flick the bars.. The throttle, clutch release, and bar flick, are all three done in one motion. It helped me to get rid of the thumb throttle.. A twist throttle is so much better at modulating the throttle, and is much less apt to give you arm pump, or dead/numb thumb.. Good luck out there and have fun..!!
@@Clutch_Kick187 Definitely appreciate the advice. Always trying to get faster man, I like the idea of a twist throttle, I might have to look i to that.
Nothing like a Honda.. I started on a 250r, then went to a 400ex, then to a 450r.. There is nothing that handles like a Honda.. a Set of Pro Tapers, +2 steering stem, +1 Roll Design A-Arms, +2 Roll Design swingarm, +2 axles, x3- Elka Resi Shocks, Fat Boy pipe & silencer, ITP Holeshots, & of course the secret sauce the Duncan Racing 470 kit with some serious porting ect.. I rode their motors for flat track and GNCC for years.. First it started on the ol' 250r, with their 265 kit, then to the 440cc kit on the 400ex, then the water cooled bikes hit the market, I almost bought a Suzuki ltz400, but luckily I waited and got the Honda that came out a couple yrs later.. I bought a yfz and tried to love the bike, but I'm just too tall for the ergo's.. That chassis and setup is a great machine, but is not as forgiving to guys that are tall and lanky like myself.. Also, its just not a Honda.. They are just better than all the other Jap Machines.. They may not be the fastest, or the best at anything, but they sure do make a machine that is engineered better, easier to work on, easier to service, and will out last any of its competition just due to using quality materials, and superior design..
For electrical components it’s called capacitance. Nice repair.
Dang that awesome
You were getting after it man. Has to be a good time. Stay safe out there.

How about adding a bypass damper to relieve static duct pressure?
@@Cotronixco That would just be a band aid fix. Return ductwork needs to be removed and upsized
@@HometownHVAC I agree, but it might be a reasonable compromise in certain cases. I added a weighted bypass damper and it took care of all these problems. It increases the heat levels at the registers but as you know, heat from a heat pump is not excessive to begin with. The smaller ductwork may suffice in this case unless it is also used for gas heat or A/C.
That supco mega ohm reader is a compressor killer
@@thatruth2341 Only if you hold the button to long lol
The company I work for charges 1200 for that style of air purifier and 500 for the uv light is that about what you all charge. Just wondering. You don’t have to say if you don’t want to.
@@JoshPaynter87 Yes we are in the same area on that pricing man.
You’re not testing the windings per say but the insulation on the windings
What are you using for a camera setup?
@@jonfarley2414 Im using the Dji action pro 5, I had a gopro but always had nothing but issues out of it. The dji action camera has been flawless for me.
@ thanks for the info.. what harness did you get to mount the camera to yourself?
@ its just a gopro head strap mount
Why make it all complicated??? I dont understand your logic...
@@Chiludo7 This isn’t complicated at all😂
What's complicated about testing compressor windings?
@@HometownHVAC you damn right it ain't but look here buddy buddy I'm not the one inside the damn condenser
@Chiudo7 Thats the right way to check it. At the compressor its self. If you wasn’t trained to check it that way then you were trained wrong.
@@HometownHVAC to each their own
That was the worst place to be the blue tube.
Ur the best mane
Great video man what was the reason for the change out?
@@karenalston6517 Thank you! The reason I replaced the fan is because the old one was over amping and leaking the motor grease, also the motor shaft had play and wobble in it causing the old fan to be extremely loud.
Pretty sure it’s a boiler lol
The lady across the street has the exact same size and style 1955 house I have. very well made house. I saw a bunch of AC trucks at her house so when I saw her I asked whats up. Her old system never worked right so bought a brand new system. Thats not working good either the drip line keeps clogging and the ac is not that great. I'm pretty good electronics guy very handy know alot about ac systems and looked at it. Her 1000 ft house only has one return register. It was missing the return closest to the ac unit in the garage. The builder never installed it. Mine has 2 one close the other far bedroom both 12 inch ducts. Not alot of air coming out of her ducts. The new ac guys never said a word. 2 Mexican installers didn't speak english. Its all about the air flow.
I highly recommend a really good in duct thermometer to every home owner. Its very accurate and you can track your AC's performance over the years. Just measure the temp in the duct in the house closest to the ac air handler. Write that down. I own a "Fieldpiece SPK2" tool it works really good $39 Amazon. The other thing that's really important is to tape in all the homes ac filters. Filter metal receptacles are notoriously sloppy. The filter does not fit air tight and it needs to be air tight. The second the filter gets a little dusty all the air will just sneak around the edge of the filter. if your filter is not real dirty after 3 months you have a sloppy holder and the filter is doing nothing. I use stage tape from amazon less messy that duct tape. Just close the gap around the edge of the filter then its air tight and 100% filtered. if you have never taped your filter in air tight odds are really good the air handler coils are clogged. That's not good its poor ac performance and will rust out your unit.

@@zaccody6980 Yes sir it was. I 100% agree with you man. You cant install this expensive top of the line equipment and not do all your homework.
If you can't change the duct work due to access for example, would you install a small tonnage unit?
@@CarreraTrackOntheFloor Yes if there was no way to upsize the ductwork we would have to go with a lower tonnage or we could do away with that system and install Mini splits which are ductless heat pump systems.
Should never just turn a kicked breaker on. You may have just killed that new compressor. Always ohm out your T1 and T2 and check to ground. Before turning on the breaker.
@@robertcherry4971 Homeowner had Breaker off when I got there it tripped when I tried to turn it on. The compressor was already done. Turning a breaker on to a compressor that has tripped could hurt the compressor but in most cases its not going to, thats why a breaker trips in the first place, to prevent damage from over current.
@@HometownHVAC Exactly.
You obviously don't work on a lot of houses with really old electrical, sometimes breakers don't trip when you want them to and fire starts shooting out of things, or you trip the main and then it decides not to reset
@iraregister7589 This home had new electrical. I have worked on plenty of homes with old electrical 😂 if thats a risk the home owner wants to take then thats on them but I do always reassure them that it needs replacing
