Great info. I have the same problem on a 2001 Chevy 1500
Get or done
I had some issue and i just disconnected the negative battery terminal waited 5 minutes then reconnected & it fixed the problem
well done can jou show as diagram
Replace your ignition switch that it !
Its usually broken gtound to pcm wires to back of block behind intake
Thanks for the fix! I have been battling this problem for a year!
Battery Saver Relay is a good place to start.
these old GM's have all kinds of grounding issues. my 04 avalanche had a bad ground that caused it to just shit itself while driving down a back road (I thought it was a fuel pump), but it was just the ground for the spark coils. damn rust buckets.
Grinding wire surface
my trucks doing the same thing it's a safety lock is there any theft look at the top you see the light flashing for the lock anti-lock
@@jamesthornton1867 tried that and didn’t work on this truck.
Try an ignition switch.
My 07 Silverado just up and stopped, no crank and no start, I’ve tried everything, new 200 battery, I can charge to it but over night it’s dead
Did you have any random relay clacking from the dash? I find after I try to start the truck, I get some relay noise when I turn the wheel or let it sit in the on position.
I just ran across your video and I'm having the same issue you described. Quick question, do you only have 2 wires on your push start button or three? I have a push start button like yours but it has three terminals. Thanks for the video
UPDATE 9/29/2024 Believe it or not this rust bucket w the push button start is still alive!!! Just had another electrical issue… turns out there was a button on the dash that got turned on and it allows the tail lights to stay on…… NO IDEA what that’s about but after charging the battery and turning that off she is on the road still!!! Glad this video has helped so many!! Peace to you all!!
Check out Battery Saver Relay (may have a different name) for a permanent fix.
Well done glad you got it sorted. Yes this video will come in useful, cheers.
I think probably you have a computer failure to send the message to the fuel pump to send the fuel. Probably need a computer
When you go to start it primes the injector so it starts.
What if my ignition fuse pops everytime I replace and it go to start up?
Kit said the battery isn't charging :D
Nope Battery and alternator were fine at the time. Truck still going w its push button start!!
It appears to be an effective solution however, is that still working after about 3 years? Thanks.
Yes it is!!! My son is still driving the rust bucket… other issues BUT it is still a push button start!!
@@toddrabb1892 Thank you! Got mine already.
Have a test light?, probably would have shown a bad fuse receptacle
The key has to be turned to start to get fuel pump going. I’m having intermittent no crank , jump hot to solenoid with relay removed did work for a while. It appears that the connection between top of fuse box where relay would plug into and where the terminal blocks underneath are is bad .
Have had the same she et going on in my 2004 hd 2500. Il give it a go.
PCM
You did not specifically show how you grounded it! We're diy not mechanics!
Video clearly says to ground it to a clean firewall ground. If you don’t understand what that means DO NOT attempt this DIY fix. Read the reviews. There are plenty of people that understand the fix. Sorry your not able to understand the instructions.
Yet another work-around to our no crank GM pickup issue!. Thank you!
Call me dumb I don’t care but explain the wiring to me like I’m 5. So one wire from the relay post to the firewall. Do you splice that wire into the cab? Cause I only see one wire from the relay which is green and one wire off your firewall which is yellow…. So where does the second wire come from???????
I have that same problem I have a 06 trailblazer and the same thing happened to me I think you just solved my problem thank you😊
Hope it helped!! GMC still using the push button without any other issues or changes!!
On my 96 k1500 I’m getting 12.6 volts on only one of the posts for the starter relay. The other 3 posts read 0, what should I do?
That’s quite older than mine. I would start by finding your grounds on the vehicle and cleaning them up. Best I can do. ✌️
Thank you Todd great solution
This truck has now STARTED Plugged in and the OBD scanner waiting for codes?!
Hey there, so we got a 04 Sierra 4x4 and switched out the Neutral safety switch. What a pain in the ass.. so-After finally getting this thing on.. no crank over Long story short- Watched your video- Trying the fuse made the engine start but not officially crank all the way over Going to try the park neutral switch and see what’s up. This has been a nightmare. Any other suggestions would be HELPFUL. 4 days in. OMG! Is it a ECM? A TCM? After installing a new NSS, do we HAVE to reset anything . I’m about ready to back this bad boy into a lake … 😮
I did that and it just sparks
Does everything operate like it should? Because yesterday I did the wire to relay starter method so I could drive and the a/c wasn’t working and there was a big power loss from the engine.
I did not have that problem. Truck is still running w push button.
@@toddrabb1892 bet thanks I’m about to go get a button and hide it under the dash gonna use it as a kill switch
What ended up being the problem, my truck is doing the same thing right now. It’s a long shot but I hope you see this
Helps alot checking my s10 first thing in the morning! My starter tested good got new relays for the oem fusebox had it jump w the a screwdriver twice then nothing!!
The green wire is tied around the top left prong? And where does that wire go to?
Which would be #86? I have to bridge mine on #87 prong and then i touch the battery and it starts
How did you wire the button
My envoy is having the same issue
Great job of fixing it,by have a 5700 ,2003 Kubota and love it!!!
I have a question I have 6.6 duramax van 2006 g3500 and my van will start in the morning but after an half hour of driving all my dash lights go hay wire and then back to normal sometimes stay off .. after I stop I have have to wait at least half hour before it will start also sometimes I turn it off my key domes out but van stays running…… help
You could have just jumped 87 to 30 on the relay locations on the block. No need to run it all the way to the battery but this way works too. If you are driving you did it right... 😂. I'm in MI too. I feel your pain with rust
I tried what you daid about crossing over 87-30 doesn't work it by passing ignition and starter continues to wind
I have a 2000 yukon denali. I have no power to the starter relay. Everything else has power in the fuse box. I assume the wires going to the relay is bad?????
So what is the actual problem bc it happened to me what do I need to fix
It's the relay ist an aftermarket relay.... blow the horn if it works change the 2 and now your truck starts horn is dead now go get a real gm relay ....junkyard
Just FYI you have 3 fuses ignition A ignition E and.one inside of dash any one of those blown will give you your problem
Pretty Damn ingenious!! I don't know what us gumball heads would do with out guys like you. Not only do you spend your precious time trouble shooting these difficult issues, but you make it even more of a challenge to record it. You Rock! Keep giving knowledge; it's the one thing that we can't take back.
Hope it helped!!! Sierra is still push button and running fine!! Peace!!
How does one do the push button
I cannot explain it better than the video does.
Omg.. get to the point!
Rude
Good video. Thanks for the info
What is the problem tho how do you fix it bc it’s happening to mine and what’s the problem
04 2500 6.0 mine only does it occasionally, and when I eat mad at it and yell “start you piece of shit” it always starts after that.
