Ghostwind has always been my absolute favorite piece of music. Especially starting around 2:05 - I bought this album when it came out and this song just touches my heart.

A master piece.

I bought this album in 1990 and it just blew me sideways, to me one of if not the best and most wonderful instrumental albums of all eternity..dixie dregs..steve morse band..so much beautiful music he's written and performed..he should have been the master of the universe!!.. but there you go..i'm just so grateful for everything Steve has done musically..just AMAZING!!0😁😁💕

In a weird way, this reminds me of Pat Metheny's approach to music...it's all about the song, not the guitar player.

This just reminds me so much of Florida holidays... driving down those long, open roads. x

This is a great road trip album! During this song in particular, I was driving through eastern Pennsylvania in the fall at sunrise, with rolling light fog among the multicolored hills and trees. I couldn't imagine a better song to capture that majestic landscape. Every time I hear this song, all I can think of is that peaceful morning drive many years ago.

This is the first Steve Morse album I owned, although I knew of him from the Dregs, and is still one of my favorite albums of all time.

Has the classic Steve Morse move to completely switch directions of the song somewhere after about halfway through (this case 2:00 mark)

Check out "Steve Morse Band - Live 1990; Full Concert" a must for SMB fans with professional quality audio/visual filmed at a smaller venue in Germany. Amazing that Steve wrote most of the Dixie Dregs (6 Grammy nominations) albums and some SMB albums while in his 20s. Besides being one of the most skilled guitarists to ever pick up the instrument his ability to compose music is often overlooked. He is one of only 3 guitarists to ever win "Best Overall Guitarist of the Year" award (rock, classical, jazz, prog rock, country, etc.) 5 years in a row! Retiring him from competition and placing him in the Gallery of Greats. Steve Howe (YES) and Eric Johnson are the others. He attended the U of Miami school of music (he was accepted without a high school diploma), which was the place to study in the early 70s - 2 of his classmates were Jaco Pastorius and Pat Metheney. John Petrucci cites Steve as his main influence. Steve is one of the nicest guys in the business and it's refreshing to hear him talk about his gratitude for his fans. I saw the Dregs several times in the late 70s/early 80s and it forever changed my taste in music. Back when he played his "Frankenstein" guitar (Telecaster body, Strat neck, Gibson frets, and custom switches and controls). Now in his 60s Steve has a repetitive wrist injury where the cartilage in his right wrist is worn away and it forced him to learn how to pick with a stiff wrist, instead of his standard anchored "rolling" style. 2017 is the last tour for Deep Purple and Steve will also be touring with the Dixie Dregs - see them if you can (most of the original band members) and recording a 3rd Flying Colors album. He still practices 4 to 6 hours a day, including days with a concert. After that type of devotion over closing in on 50 years, you can see why the wear and tear is physically catching up with him.

Finest tune from an incredibly album by arguably one of the best 6 stringers in the world. The true genius lies in how he kept the guitar seamlessly with everything else in this.... simply beautiful.

Steve Morse proves you you can be a fantastic guitarist and, write heartfelt music. The harmonic theme, is effective and engaging. Dave LaRue's bass is the perfect symmetry to balance out the sweetness of this music. Wonderful understated drumming from Van Romain, add's to the atmospheric effect this song needs. Great CD High Tension Wires.

I'm heartened to see that so many others use the same word to describe this music as comes to my mind - timeless. I bought this album the year I graduated from college, 1990. This music always brings that feeling of new beginnings, of hopeful uncertainty, of excitement. I remember listening to this the day I put on the cap and gown and received my diploma. Funny how music can bring those feelings right back, just as strong even after so many years. Thanks, Steve. Your gift is a gift to us all.

The outro, especially when the orchestra-like string sounds fade in at 2:16 with the guitar sends chills down my spine of just how beautiful the arrangement is...
