For me, the history of classical guitar soloing ends with Segovia. What comes after is just attempts, better, worse to keep up. Lots of great guitarists but for none does the guitar sing like it does for H I M . Even with some technical imperfections of old age. Probably the only instrument where one man casts such a huge shadow.

Excellent technique! Lots of it copied by later rock guitar heroes, like sweep picking, palm muting and integrating flageolets.

Nobody plays like Segovia played. I always loved his interpretation and delivery. No theatrics or facial expressions. He was the best. At least for me.

I think his right hand technique is a huge part.of his amazing tone. Lots to learn from watching the maestro

People value virtuosity above all. I appreciate it too, but would never put it in first place. Segovia is not the best virtuoso, albeit that's not his greatness. He has a soul which is the most important virtue of musician. That's why he can't be replicated.

I was priveleged to see Segovia live once, many years ago in Oakland, California. What a consummate artist.. He pretty much single=handedly established the classical guitar as a serious musical instrument.
