Thank you so much
So good!
Goldene Altsaxophontöne! Eine tolle Band mit dem österreichischen Meistersaxophonisten Karl Drewo ...lässig!
Interviewer talks too much. John McLellan I think. A little full of himself. Very few questions that allowed Bird to speak expansively. Followup questions designed to show interviewer's knowledge. Too bad Brian Lamb wasnt around to interview Bird.
Genius
Wonder what Kenny G thinks of Bird?
This is from Jam Session at the Birdland on June 27th, 1953.
Cringeworthy questions - and yet, I salute the interviewer for having the courage to do a deep dive (and break through racial barrier) with one of the most brilliant musicians of the 20th Century - indeed, of any century.

Fantastic interview. The master speaks !
But not enough. Interviewer likes to hear himself talk.
We played this song and version for our wedding dance 32 years ago. Beautiful. Thanks Sonny.
A veritable treasure. Thanks to those who made this video available to so many.
Wow! Well treated simple motiff. That's the stuff of Jazz . Thanks guys.
In the Clint Eastwood movie, ' Bird ; Eastwood Has Charlie Parker being portrayed as a bafoon. He never showed mr. Parker's genius.
I never liked Eastwood’s movie. It never tells how Bird developed the concepts and technique that changed the world of music. He never showed that he had a mother who loved him and h oh e this influenced him to express love and other emotions through his music.
Why are all of the music examples cut out???!!! 😡
❤ This is a wonderful interview. Very telling
He is so positive with the other musicians! ❤
I hear wisdom and dignity. Great to hear the master speak. Great insight. This is a gem.
Great to hear REAL jazz after hearing what passes for jazz these days. Especially good to hear Victor Feldman, my favorite pianist with this band.
Super
No mention of SEGREGATION RED LINNING KKK RACISM WHITE SUPREMACY IDIOLOGIES LYNCHING
Dont forget. That in parkers tome segregation, racism was at it is peack..meaning MO OPPORTUNITIES FOR COLORED PEOPLE..
Fantastic!!!!
Thanks for doing this
Sabio !! ❤
Does anyone know the whereabouts of the session Parker mentions at the end with woodwind quintet and rhythm section.
I'm almost sure he's referring to the Dave Lambert Singers session he did that year. Look up Parker 'In The Still Of The Night'...
Good stuff !
Nice Groove!! Has a New Old Blue Note Sound!! Makes U Appreciate Jazz!!!
With eighteen months to live, he sounds like 70 at 32...
U mean ahead of his time a real true legend
Rare interview,CP always sounds stoned. Should have more views.
HOW DOES HE SOUND STONED? DID YOU EVEN, KNOW THE MAN OR DID YOU JUST READ ABOUT THE LEGEND OF THE MAN?
KUDOS ❤❤❤ OUT TO CHARLIE PARKER 🎉
Such a great interview. Keen to listen to so much more. And crazy to think Charlie is 33 here, the same age I am now - can't really imagine having gained that much musical experience in such a short time. And he'd be gone from this world just two years later.
Short time? Not if you know how to practice
@@Zxx459 I feel like I've learned quite a lot as a musician and teacher these past 26 years or so, but not a fraction of what Charlie knew.

Ferocious. No one made it out of there that night.
Probably Dexter's best ever interpretation of this wonderful composition. His sound here is clear, wide open, bright, warm and colourfull ... his use of all instrument's possibilities and total command of improvisation following line of main melody is phenomenal. I heard this composition for the first time somewhere in mid seventies on radio and I still remember my reaction on Dexter's playing ... he catapulted me in musical heaven, I want to know immediatelly all about him, the musicians in group and to buy record with this tune (on SteepleChase records)... Sweet memory. Regards from Slovenia! Vladimir Trop
loved every second!............
"I like Dixieland - I like good Dixieland. It's alright, you know? But i just don't play it because I most likely wouldn't make a good job at it anyway. I just think it should go another way."
Art LIVES!!! The great concert
This not What's New Album .,. Anyone have any ideas what it is?
🔥 Blues.❤

Strong defense of Kenton!
GREAT
Why is the audio cut off/skipped at 2.00?
I guess it's because Dean Benedetti recorded it. He only turned his recorder on when Bird played.
We need this on vinyl plz?
true.....but it's so expensive and it needs so much time.
rapture
Great document! Love the amount of focus on classical music. Funny how we think of the early “bebop” era as history, but so did they in the 50s, only 10-15 years on. 10-15 years prior to now was only 2008-2013 ish. Wow!!
and its crazy because our music has also changed so much in our era from 2013- 2024
Played bass on this in high school jazz band cant believe inever heard this live recording
I’ve heard stitt blow fast like Charlie Parker, stitt knew his notes like the bird did, great performance on how high the moon.
