OMG I totally remember the HISSING sound I used to make to eject the food from under the expander.
Master the art of ejection! 🤣
Thank you so much for sharing your experience! This is very helpful as i prep for my own surgery... Though clearly a few years after you filmed. Can you tell me how much time you had to take off work? TY!
How old were you when you got the surgery? I heard that is never to old for surgery but while you are young it is easier.
you’re looking good man, i also want to have this surgery
HELLO MAN , PLEASE WHAT TYPE OF EXPANDER YOU ARE USING DOES IT HAVE SCREWS?
Hey bro, I am 19 and have severe crowding on my upper teeth. I am thinking about doing SARPE. Can I ask, by how many mm did you expand your jaw?
Can someone please tell me which dental surgeon he used? I live in melbourne too and im having a hard time finding someone to do this.
@@sophieclarke6147 hi there! I went to SmileSolutions in Melbourne!
@anishdev92 thank you so much 💓 💖
@anishdev92 thanks so much !!! 💓
I live in Melbourne, what dentist do you use ?
Direct before/after comparison ?
Did you lose any tooth nerve or bite sensition after this surgery? I don't mean right after the surgery, i mean after the recovery. I hope you can answer my question, thank you mate!
Such great videos! Im in this same situation over in the US. I found an excellent Oral & Maximillofacial surgeon! However is it okay if I only focus on fixing the SARPE jaw cross bite surgery & worry about addressing the open bite i also have later if I need?? Lol because like you said in other videos they may ask to do more stuff that I dont think I’d wanna agree to all of a sudden if they are not as important. Correcting my jaw issue cross bite with SARPE I’d think is way more important. Wouldn’t you agree? Great results man!!
Did you notice nasal congestion during the opening time? I'm going on day 7 and I have 5 days left to open my palate... my nose is a little stuffy... is it normal?
I did! I think it was mainly due to the fact that the surgery area around the nose was still healing, so I can increase phlegm and blood in the area during that time, which slowly dissipated
Just had SARME surgery 2 days ago, I’m a 37 yo male. Not gonna lie, the recovery from this surgery has been brutal. I would definitely recommend always having an ice back ready, your face will swell quite significantly. I have a pretty high pain threshold but this surgery is right up there. It will all be worth it in the end.
Ice packs are good for sure! Sounds a lot rougher than my recovery / goes to show how different it can be for everyone. I hope it disappears on you fast Kyle!
thank you for this video, I also need to have this done and I'm worried about the recovery experience. this video was informative.
It was my pleasure and and I’m glad to help!
This video was ao comforting to me and really helped me feel like I know what to expect, i am getting sarpe surgery in about 6 weeks, i will have 2 teeth removed in the surgery and have braces put on my front teeth to attach a chain to pull down my two canines which are stuck inside the upper jaw, I am just a teenager and i have no parent so i have been scared for being alone after but i feel better now from seeing your video i can prepare myself mentally
Now what I am spectacularly worried for is that after my sarpe, maybe in 17 months the surgeon wants me to have a more severe double jaw surgery with the whole mouth wired after and I have to then take care of my self for eating and pain relief i am so scared, especially since my boyfriend wants me to have a job immediately after my sarpe and i am worried of embarrassment from going to a job interview and being on pain medication, having a speech impediment, eating in front of co-workers, how much i will be showered with clean clothes while also recovering from these surgeries to me is very overwhelming to imagine, but of course it is true if i dont begin working immediately after sarpe surgery then i will not have money in time for double jaw surgery,, wish me luck! At least my cat 🐈⬛ will be here to make sure I am happy and not too lonely, I just hope i dont forget to feed her or she might eat me!! 😢🤣
I’m so glad it helped you manage your expectations on this journey! The worst is the unknown, because we always think of the worst case scenario 😂 I think the best way is to ask your ortho, what is the ideal outcome of the first surgery? Ultimately he won’t be able to tell you exactly what will happen, after all each body reacts differently - but he might give you an indication of how much better it would be even with just the first surgery - like in my situation my orthodontist mentioned that a second surgery would be good to “perfect” it but honestly the first surgery was so good I didn’t think I even needed a second, so I opted not to proceed.
Just had my SARPE surgery today, your videos really helped me a lot. Thank you for sharing this!!
It is my absolute pleasure!! Congrats on taking the biggest step forward!
My SARPE surgery was all done through my nose. I had braces before, so fortunately, my gap won't as be as big.
Which ortho/doctor recommended SARPE to you? I have a similar case to you where the upper jaw has severe crowding but the 3 orthodontists I’ve seen all recommended extractions 😢
Sorry for the late late response!! If youre in Melbourne - I highly recommend seeing smile solutions / oral max surgeons
From where you have taken this surgery
1.5month past expanding (8mm). My right tooth started tilting outwards so the gap at the (bottom) base was actually 9mm, which was pretty awful (to me at least). Most people said nothing, a few mades somes jokes about it, but I survived (no shit) Now, the gap is 5.5mm at the upper base and 7mm at the lower base. It's still a lot, people still look at me weird and I still feel obliged to explain myself to everyone I meet but I have to say: what a relief to see it closing! I confess I've been cheating a bit using some elastics bands (my ortho probs wouldn't be happy about it but y'know, I'm doing it "safe" with a very low amount of pressure, removing it as soon as I feel any discomfort/pain and I feel it's helping) I'll have the expander removed on February 5th (my birthday, how lovely right!) and will then pursue an Invisalign treatment. I'm an optimistic guy by nature but I have to be realistic too: the gap won't fully close probably before end of summer 24 AT BEST. It's long, it's hard, can be super annoying and even painful at times, but I guess it's worth it
Hello, you said after 1.5 months you expanded 8 mm. What was your total expansion for the whole process in terms of mm?
@userprecisealt4136 8mm was the full expansion. It took about 9 months to fully close
@@loicriguelle5998 Thanks for your reply. Do you mind me asking how old are you? I am thinking of expanding my upper between 5-10mm but I don’t want any changes to my face (not any significant or noticeable changes)
@userprecisealt4136 you're welcome. I'm 27. Except from visible weight loss (from surgery recovery and just a lesser appetite in general due to it having become more difficult) it hasn't exactly changed my face. Just made it thinner but that's because of the weight loss, it'll probably come back after all the Christmas dinners :) Only the teeth really changed, obviously
Hi man, who was your doctor? I need to get this surgery too.
Doctor David Austin from smile solutions
What was the age when you had it done?
29!
bro its over for u why do u bother
Hi, bro can you please let me know where you had this surgery in India? It would be really helpful as I want to get this surgery to fix my speech issues and overbite
Hey! I got it in Melbourne Australia ˙ᵕ˙ I’m not too sure about where to go in India :(
Hey, you're in Melbourne? Did you see Ricky Kumar for the surgery?
I did!
I know you had this done a few years ago but I am curious how long your face was swollen and sore for
Swelling went down after 4 weeks
Hey! I had SARPE surgery in May 2023 and braces on in August 2023. I feel like the sensitivity of my teeth(front 4-6) have not decreased much. How long did this take for the sensitivity to resolve?
After you completed turning your expander, when did they start closing the gap?
As soon as I finished the last turn, about 8 weeks later braces were on - mind you my process was slightly delayed due to the lockdowns, it would’ve been on a couple of weeks after turning
Thank you for sharing! I had my SARPE over a month now. Started turning my expander post op 3, twice a day (40 turns total). After my final turn, I met with my orthodontist and wanted me to follow up 8 weeks. I have a gap as expected, and he said new bone was going to form. I’m hoping by my 8 week follow up they’ll do the next step with closing my gap. Although I’m embracing my gap for now😅
@daniloespiritu1962 😂 I’m telling ya, you’re going to miss it
Is it necessary to remove wisdom teeth before undergoing this procedure? I don't want mind removed as they aren't causing me any pain or trouble, but I wonder if their removal is a prerequisite to having the expansion surgery
Hey! Removal of wisdom teeth is not necessary, I only removed mine because mine were impacted and causing discomfort
May I ask when you start eating soft foods? I’m on day 4 and I am sick of “drinking” my meals :(
Oh goodness you must be on to some sort of good by now, it took me a good month because I could have spaghetti 😂
Bro i am going to get the jaw expansion device without surgery My orthodontist said that im going to getting the jaw expansion device and braces at the same day So does that mean that i wont get a gap between my teeth?
Hey! If you are getting the jaw expansion device, I’m assuming you’d be expanding your jaw? Which should result in some sort of gap I would think…
I am 4 weeks post op and I just found your channel. I've been struggling with my gap, but watching your videos today have really helped my confidence. Thank you for posting your journey. I dont feel so alone now. You are appreciated!!
I am so so glad it has helped you in some way, that’s all I hoped for with these videos and it’s doing some good… how are you going with everything now?
Thanks for sharing your journey! You gave me a lot of confidence to go for my sarpe. Just got my expander removed today after 6 months, what a relief haha. hopefully I'll get a nice result as you did. Sheers from Brasil!
You are most welcome my friend! Omg getting the expander out is the besttttt what a relief ❤️❤️
Did your lips become wider??
I can confirm no
How long did you have braces on since after the SARPE surgery? I had my SARPE surgery last July and have had braces on since February this year. Just wondering how long they're likely to stay on. Your results are great.
I had my sarpe in September, expander was put on and only put braces on in February
Where was the Surgery done?
In my jaw
Did u ever try upper palate expander or strsight surgery
Yes that’s exactly what I did - surgery followed by upper palate expander - I had to go with surgery as I was 27 at the time and my jaw was locked and loaded
@@anishdev92 what does it mean, locked and loaded,u couldnt use palate expander only?
Did u get upper palate expander
Yes I did ˙ᵕ˙
@@anishdev92 and for how much time did u have it and did it expand your jaw a lot or
I'm on day 2. Your videos are helping me get through it
I am so glad, welcome to the club! How are you going now?
What made you go with sarpe?
I was only keen to get braces, but based on the size of my upper palate, I had to remove two teeth to fit the teeth with braces. However they advised them once you get braces without surgery, your upper palate will not align with your bottom palate - and so you’d have less teeth, straight teeth but a mismatched palate - so I opted for surgery
@@anishdev92 ahh I see, I’m getting some expansion soon so I’m just asking around for info. Are you moving forward to having jaw surgery?
Hello....the gap when will be closed?
Literally is gone within a couple of months
I’m loving your videos as I’m just now 2 weeks post-op. I’m really struggling with the pain/numbness and the lack of food I can eat 😂
You are so welcome! It’s the most annoying part when you can’t eat your favorite food. Hang in there, before you know it you’ll be crunching away!
I'm 4 weeks post op. I feel your pain! 😢
First. Thank you so much for the videos. They helped me prepare for everything leading up to my surgery (November 2022) removal March 2023. I got braces on 2 weeks before removal. Lately, I feel like I've had a setback. My front upper teeth have hurt since the beginning along with nerve pain. But it seemed to be getting better but for the past week it feels like the pain when I used to be turning the SARPE. Did you have any set back like that? Thank you again!
You are absolutely welcome! Nothing better than hearing that my videos have helped you in someway! A “setback” I had was I do remember having a bit of a “click” every couple of days on my upper jaw, it felt a little uncomfortable but it went away in a week or two!
Any updates? I have had a slower than normal healing process according to my oral surgeon. I am almost 9 months post op and about 8 mont post completion of expanding, and I’ve had nerve pain. I was prescribed GABAPENTIN to help and it definitely makes a difference. Hoping the nerves heal soon. I’m definitely anxious about this whole healing process just because it’s been so slow. Hope you have had some relief as well with your nerve pain.
@@felishapowell3847hello, it's been 14 months for me now. My top gums still do not have feel back. Brush my teeth, talking and eating all feel strange. A part of my nose also doesn't have feeling back yet. Hopefully at the 2 year mark? Lol. Next up is my next jaw surgery 😳
Hey anish , does it make your face assymitry cal or it just same
I feel like it remains the same to me, but I’m sure it depends on how your jaw is aligned, how severe your alignment is prior to surgery etc
What about changes in breathing or quality of life like sleep, anxiety, stress etc
Definitely snoring stopped, and I never thought I could breathe through my nose while exercising, until I had the expansion done - airways opened up so much!
I need SARPE surgery and i'm a bit scared i'm worried about making this decision. My mother advises me not to but I want to correct my bite as it is causing me health problems. Although recovery is difficult, I think I'm ready to do it. Congratulations on your results.
Thank you so much! The start of it is always the hardest, if you believe you need it then go for it, my parents never felt the need for us (hence why I did it in my late 20s) but once I could make the decision on my own I did what was best for me ❤️
Did your nose get wider bro. Or did stay the same
My nose stayed the same from what I can see, in fact I think it might look a touch nicer for some reason 😂
You're a king
No you’re a king!!!
In about 6 months I'll be having the surgery, got the braces on now. Nervous but determined. Scare about the pain tho, but I did got my wisdom tooth removed and I survived, so I think I got this 👍👍 Thank you for encouring me and all that have or will be going under the surgery 🙌
If you can survive wisdom teeth removal, you’ve got this!!
OH WOWOW I came here after having seen just the post-operation video and WOWOWOW your teeth are amazing! Congratulations. A M A Z I N G !!!
Thank you so much!!
You are a legend man. Great video, you are helping a lot of people. I just decided to do this surgery after waiting for months for Insurance approval (which my insurance company denied so I'm going to have pay for it myself). Gonna be turning 25 soon, your video gave me all the confidence I needed!
You’ve made my day!! I’m so glad Vineeth! It sucks that your insurance isn’t helping but it’s going to be worth every cent
