We are a husband and wife team that enjoys the art and creativity of wood crafts. We enjoy everything from the smell of the wood to the satisfaction of a completed project - the sawdust and glitter and everything in between. On this channel, we will explore wood craft projects, tools, and skills. We are hobbyists, not experts. We will share with you what we have learned and will learn as we enjoy the world of wood crafting. We hope that you will join us to explore your creativity, enjoy the satisfaction of making something for your home, make a gift, sell your own handiwork, or spend time on a project with loved ones.

$10 Dremel scroll saw recondition and demo
I want to share I how I reconditioned this Dremel scroll saw (model 1680) my son found for me for $10 at a thrift store. Can you believe it? I review its features and do a short demonstration. Sometimes you can find a good deal!

Your video is the best thank you so much
Wow. Great video and demonstration.
Thank you! I am glad you liked it.
Thanks so much! Going to change the blade now. 😄
Good luck!
Great find for 10 dollars
Agreed! Every once in a while, you can stumbled across a really good deal.
Not bad for $10
Yes, indeed. It seems to be working good!
Great deal looking good Keep building
Thanks, Larry.
Thanks bro . ✌️
You are welcome!
This is a brilliant video. So enlightening, thanku. Assuming the type of wood makes a difference too. What’s the wood you’re using here? It looks like a softwood, is that right?
Good eye! I was using pine.
@@HomestyleWoodCrafts ah, thanks for the heads up.
THANK YOU! Trapped my pinin blade in acrylic. Needed to release it.
I am glad it was helpful!
My Dewalt 12" miter saw does not cut completely to the back of the fence. The saw always leaves a tiny piece of wood that does not get contact from the cutting blade. How do I correct this? 👍🏽🤠 06/28/24
Is there a way to move the fence forward a little?
How do you find the saw after three years any issues is the contractor model is a saw that it's a lifetime
Still LOVING it! I am a hobbyist, so not a heavy user, but no problems so far.
@HomestyleWoodCrafts thank you I just bought it today 👌
@@anthonypalazzolo6181 awesome! Have fun with it!
In case it is helpful, I did a video on assembling the sawstop contractor saw called "How to Assemble Your SawStop Contractor Table Saw: 8 tips". It's one of my earlier videos. Good luck!
Well you were lucky that they throw in the mobile base in aus you have to pay for it
Just to clarify when I said I included the mobile base in the purchase of my saw what I meant was that I paid for it as an added item on my order.
Do you have the measurements
The long side pieces are 12 inches long. One of them is 4 and 3/4 inches wide. The other is 5 and 3/8 inches wide. The ends are a little trickier. I now assemble the two long pieces and use them to make measure the wood for the ends. They are around 5 1/2 inches but note the notches to match the sides. The legs are 8 and 1/2 inches long by 1 and 1/8 inches wide. Hope that helps!
@@HomestyleWoodCrafts thank you
Great gifts
Agreed!
😅
Great tutorial. Thanks.
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching.
In case you didn't catch it, THE BLADE BOLT IS REVERSE THREAD. Loosen clockwise, tighten counterclockwise.
Thank you!
I think you had some good ideas. There are a couple of things I saw that may explain why some things didn't sell as well as you thought would. I think when people want to buy wood that is what they want to see. covering the wood with paper may not be what people expect. A little hand painting may be preferred. Your ornaments are very cute I think they would be even cuter if they had some color or sparkle. I was told that not everyone has the same tastes so you may need to expand the styles so you enlarge your inventory and attract other kind of customer. I've learned a lot from other crafters and I'm thankful for their suggestions. I am talking to you in a business setting I am not putting you down I hope this just gives you more ideas and choices.
Thank you for the feedback. Taken in the spirit it was given. :-)
Thanks mate. Have a similar model, slightly different but same idea. Lost the manual years ago. Worked it out thanks to your help.
Thank you, I am glad it was hepful!
Uma pergunta James. Você usa muito a Bosch RA 1181? Acha realmente útil, para trabalhos pequenos de artesanato? Tenho uma, estou pensando em vender e comprar uma menor, o que você acha?
No, I can't say I have used it a lot. I think the size is reasonable for the kinds of projects I have done and want to do. A smaller table would mean less support for some sizes of projects, but hey do what works for you! :-)
I hope the tips are helpful. Thanks for watching!
Thank you
You're welcome!
If you plan on cutting circles with this unit , FORGET IT!
Sounds like you have had a bad experience?
my saw is off on angle and the fence is bowed. Harbor freight.....
That stinks!
😊awsome video...thank you just bought one for $65😊watching from california
Thank you! Happy sawing!
Miter saw approach is clutch. Mine are always uneven. Exactly what I was looking for
Thank you! Glad it was helpful.
Thank you!!!! I did it! It may have taken all of my strength to get the old blade loosened but, I did it!!
Congratulations!
We have the 8 inch saw. I recently changed the blade from your other video and now we’re noticing when we use it. The blade will not stop it. Just keep spinning for a minute or so. Any ideas?
Afraid not. I have not had that experience. Let us know if you find a solution. Good luck!
Great video now I understand how it work
Great, I am glad it was helpful!
I wouldn't buy one of these in any condition for any price. Mine refuses to track straight and wastes belts like no tomorrow and right now I have mine apart to get bit of a belt that got balled up and jammed in the drive roller. Get a better one and go through less money by not ruining so many belts.
I haven't had the same experience but thanks for sharing your perspective.
Is it light enough to carry around?
Yes. Wouldnt want to carry it far, but its doable. It even has a built in handle.
Thanks so much for posting this! I have the exact same saw I haven’t used for a few years and forgot how to get the plastic blade guard out of the way. Thanks to your video I was able to find which screw to remove.
I am glad the video was helpful!
How much would you pay for this second hand?
Well, I may not be the one to ask. When I look at used tools, I look for really, really good deals. However, my table saw in this video in good working condition with the stand, accessories, intact safety features etc I would think somewhere in the $200 to $300 range would be fair. But that will depend on the local market and the person so take my guesstimate for what it's worth.
The crocodile made me giggle, thanks for an easy hide to sort out my saw
Glad you enjoyed the shop 🐊! Thanks for watching!
Thanks so much! Went into Rona today and they are charging $10 dollars for 10. I need 50. …$50. These are great methods and will save me some bucks. And the geometry is fascinating! Cheers
Glad it was helpful. And the math, right?
Thank you for the good ideas. I think the new neighbors are vampires.🧛 and I need to make some yard signs.
Don't forget the garlic!
I’ve still got mine, perfect 90 degree blade
Cool!
So what are you hiding be find the blue tarp?
Behind the blue tarp is shelving with a bunch of stuff on it...proects....tools etc. I worry that it's visually distracting and so I put the tarp up to simplify the visuals in the video.
1:03 If you REALLY were a "safety first" kind of a guy, you would lock the door to the workshop and never go back in. What actually comes first is, "accomplishing your task", otherwise you have no reason to be there.
Haha! Good point! I guess what I mean then is I intend to be as safe as I can while working in the shop. Thanks for watching!
NEVER EVER run the saw with the door open
Always appreciate the safety reminders!
Are you serious. I sat through 5 minutes of bla just for you to jump cut to it being assembled. Cool. So I'll just read the manual, was hoping to watch someone put it together but that isn't this.
So to answer your first question, sometimes I am serious and sometimes I like to joke around. So a little bit of both, I would say. The first few minutes you refer to as "bla" are the unboxing which I think is a valuable kind of content. It lets folks who are considering purchasing the router table know they will get if they order it. I am sorry that the video didn't meet your expectations. There is another channel - Northwest Craftsman - who did video the assembly with some voice over. Maybe that will be helpful. Here is the link: th-cam.com/video/clwb5igR6Jw/w-d-xo.htmlsi=qhTs0KvILYaj9dRz. Good luck.
Get yourself a couple small squeeze clamps to hold the blade on the wheel while you line up the blade on the other wheel. There's a TH-cam video on it. Really helpful. And I throw my new blades in the grass to uncoil it.
Great tip. Thanks for sharing!
Nice.
Thanks for watching!
My 3921 is either missing the socket screws, or it has wingnuts. No matter-we have a hardware store for that. Thanks for the easy-to-figure out video!
Good luck!
How I wish I'd found this video a couple of weeks ago! I had the same task, and encountered all the same issues - and then some. But I got there. The old machine I inherited is an INCA 342 from France. The innards were choked with accumulated wood dust in every crevice and corner. Every bearing , guide and adjustment screw was caked, needing removal and scraping clean. I'd never before seen the insides of a bandsaw, so this was a 'voyage of discovery'. The tension adjustment was and remains seized solid from decades of neglect. I had to use the Tracking Control knob to get enough slack to mount the new blade, and then accept the resultant tension when the tracking was right. The upper/lower blade guides used several 'carbon' blocks which were positioned/secured by means of tiny hex setscrews. Their keyways were blocked by caked dust. All that sorted/adjusted, I had a trial 'spin-up' which seemed fine, so I tried cutting some 50mm teak. Problem! Cutting was extremely slow - far slower than that the previous old blade achieved. And there was a 'clacking' sound. I switched off, opened up and inspected the blade. I noted a tiny incipient crack on the inside of the weld area.... so that blade was NBG, and went back to Amazon. I then sought advice - from Tuff Blades in South Wales, who were exceptionally patient with an ignorant noobie, providing much guidance and two new blades. They also quietly pointed out something I'd never heard of - not even after wading through more than a dozen TH-cam videos. My machine is what is known in the trade as 'LEFTHANDED'. No, me neither! The newly-fitted blade is 'sweet as a nut'. 50mm teak is a 'walk in the park'. No undue noises, no squeals of protest. Just simply effective.... Proves once again the merit in asking for advice from a responsive pro. No more 'fools rush in'....
So much of woodworking is problem solving!
The blade guide should not be all the up when cutting 1/2 material. It should be just above the material. Did you read the manual?
Yes, I did read the manual and typically when I operate the saw I lower the guide. It was an oversight in this case. Good reminder. Thanks!
You don't unfold the blade by opening it yourself. You just throw it to the ground. Not kidding.
Great tip! Thanks!
Don’t throw the blade on the ground , you could damage a tooth ! If your that worried about getting cut use a pair of leather gloves, but no don’t chuck it on the ground that is a horrible tip ….
@@07roadking43 Any bigger blade when folded has enough potential energy to cut your nose clean off before you even realize what is happening. It is impossible to control. No matter what kind of gloves you have. DO NOT ATTEMPT! And yes you risk damaging the tooth. Using soft ground is better, but even then losing a tooth is a lot of better than losing body parts.
