9 to 5 With Original Cast

The song, 9 to 5 sung by the cast of 9 to 5: The musical. This is not authentic. I just got clips together and put them where they sound right.

Evolution of "The Wizard and I" (Wicked)
2:45 I wonder if this is where they got the idea to build that massive straw statue for No One Mourns The Wicked.
The second version should have bookend all of it with wizard and i at the other end
What a phenomenal song writer he is! Thank you for the gift of Wicked. This musical has accompanied me for much of my adult life. I have learned every song, sometimes worked on them for months to perfect. There are so many brilliant songs with such clever lyrics and stunning orchestration and the story is the story of us all deep down. Beautiful!
God bless the keyboardists/pianists who plays his score every night on Broadway!
I remember watching this clip (I think on this channel!) more than 10 years ago and it's STILL so good! I tell this story all the time... that The Wizard and I is a "wait for it" song 🤩
I love this man's singing and speaking voice with all my heart. It's gentle, soulful and..............real. He's one of the greatest composers out there and is simply a musical genius.
Sooooooo talented! 💚
I love every moment of this.
Simultaneously playing with audience expectations, taking into account the strengths of his performers, and keeping to the theme of making good without overdoing it. While creating a truly bittersweet song indulging in the joy Elphie is experiencing that we also know to be tragic because it just won’t happen that way
❤❤❤❤❤❤
He's a genius. I love hearing the back stories. I'm a new fan!
No greater gift than to hear the composer do the song. All the material is there. Then give it to the performer. But we need this.
everyone thank this man 🙏
here again
He actually has an outstanding voice this is crazy
I will forever love this brilliant man
He's truly brilliant! 💚🩷
I wish that Winnie put as much thought into her book as Stephen put into his music. He's so thoughtful about the compositions and lyrics, but her book is so lazy.
Damn. This man can tell a story.
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
He is a genius.
Its good to know even the best have to work at it.
How I wish I was in that room x
Musical genius responsible for so many classics ❤❤❤
I feel like even though The Wizard an I came from this, this version sounds more like one short day!
There is so much John Denver in this song, the chords and lyrics - and this optimism has been maligned but I still long for it and enjoy songs that are driven by it. You can here it in Defyin Gravity too...just more of a protest song
you know hes a successful broadway guy by the way he prioritizes the acting of the song over pretty singing. Its my favorite thing about theatre
Musically, I prefer “Making Good” for sure. But there's many great choices in the final song.
The “I could….melt” line is so damn clever
I don’t mean this as shade, but it’s so fascinating how someone can be so talented composing music to perfectly suit someone else’s voice while not exactly having the voice to sing it themselves. Steven can inherently hear Idina killing this song in his mind, and he was right. That honestly sounds more difficult to me than if the composer were also able to sing it
I love these ‘evolution of song’ videos. So fascinating to see how composers work. Brilliant
pai
I really like the original making good song. Anyone else?
I do! But I agree it doesn't fit as much as "The Wizard and I"
Cynthia Erivo did such an amazing job on this song, especially because her tone switches up a lot from her sweet and kinda soft lower register to her clear ringing belt. One of my favourite songs from the musical
Yes! It makes me feels so many things.. joy, excitement, pride, hopefulness, interjected with some ironic foreshadowing
She sounded completely lifeless and dull.
@@aidandavis5550 it's a shame that your health insurance doesn't cover hearing aids
It feels so much more younger and naive but bright because of it. I was truly impressed
The beauty of the song is that it shows a childish, naive side of Elphaba which is very different from her usual confident and self reliant personality. It humanizes the character and really creates a lot of empathy for her story
To me, the song about hope and makes the audience understand how Elphaba really feels about her unusual skin color and unique abilities. The song is an absolute masterpiece and I just love it.
Here after watching wicked in the cinema having never had the chance to see it on stage CANNOT wait for part 2
Thank you! It is so magical to watch
I went to a phenomenal tribute concert this week where so many phenomenal performers sang great song after great song. Halfway through, Stephen himself comes out and performs this one and I have been thinking about it for almost three solid days.
That was beyond brilliant and gave me some insight into the workings of this musical genius' mind.
Bravo!!!
Pippin was magical for me when I saw it as a kid. Now I appreciate this man behind the music! Awesome writer and musician.
You are brilliant.
Now I really wish to hear full versions of the previous two songs!💚🎹🎼🎵🎶
I appreciate how he wasn’t focusing on his singing abilities but more on the heart of the song. Very impactful
Yeah, and his voice is incredibly unique - it's gentle and soulful in a way you don't usually hear.
This is a fantastic song.
Love this. Thank you for posting.
Stephen is a genius
The cry when he sings "Help me meet the Wizard" 😍😍
Didn't know Rick Moranis could sing.
No one is talking about the guts and confidence it takes to publicly show pieces of your work that were not very good and basically failures and use them to explain how a creative process works. Maybe it’s just me, but I think it’s incredibly brave.
I can understand this on a creative level, I don’t write songs but I like to write fiction. And I cringe myself out looking at old pieces of writing or parts that didn’t quite “make it” into the final product. I’d be so embarrassed to share that with the public 😂 so I agree it’s incredibly humbling and brave of him to do so!
So true! Stephen Schwartz is such an generous, brave and awesome person!
