Very fine and tru. As a Dane I want to add, that we also nearly never use the sirname of a person. Often we only know the first name of a person, when we speak about peoples, we just meat somewhere or the name of a cleark etc. etc. AND in DK, the driver have the whole responsibility for accidents involving "soft trafficers", as we mention walkers and bikers. They can behave very wrong and incorrectly, BUT the cardriver will get the responsibility for the accident!!!

I am not Danish but am trying to learn the language and a bit of culture of Denmark for fun. I seem to recall , and I could be wrong, but the age at which you can buy low percentage alcohol (beer ?wine?) and full strength alcohol (Spirits) is different. So since every man and his dog is allowed to drink beer that why beer is not guarded by a clerk behind a desk.

We have a lot of bakeries here. But unfortunately authentic French Baguettes are hard to find, even in Copenhagen. I am Danish, but would do almost anything, to get a real French Baguette ! Apart from that. I think we offer a decent amount of really good bread ! Each Bakery offers there own version of different types of bread and pastries😀.

There are almost no tourists who come to Denmark to cycle and bother learn our cycling rules. They are a danger to everyone, including themselves. Secondly, they are a huge annoyance to us locals 😌 ! If you don´t how to bicycle or basic rules. Denmark is not the place to learn !

There are subtle etiquette things we use formal language for. I don't mean frøken (miss) and frue (mrs). Those are out unless you are talking to the queen or something like that. Even if you by chance run into the prime minister in the store, you'd not use those honorifics. But you do sometimes use De, though it's quite rare. Like I live in a affluent neighbourhood in Copenhagen, and sometimes, just sometimes, you do come into contact with some "fin dame", a comtesse or baroness or some relic from a bygone era. But if you are speaking to a somewhat normal elderly person, they'd find it odd to be addressed with "De". It might also sometimes be used as an ironic gesture. But it is really very out of vogue and I doubt the younger generations even know how to speak formally, properly.

I understand that you were shocked about babies left alone outside , and when i became a mom myself to my wonderful son , people always told me that it was good for their immune system to sleep outside in the daytime , but i was scared to let him sleep outside , so i walked around whit him in his stroller when he should has his naps in the daytime , sometimes 6 hours , because he couldn't fall sleep inside at the daytime , but we were living in a flat with an area that belongs to the building , and we had a big balcony , so one day i started to let him sleep right down in front of our balcony , even at the winter , but he had plenty of winter clothing on and a duvet , and so on , and ALL the time i sat at the balcony and looked at him , CONSTANTLY , and as soon he started to move , i was running down to check if he was about to wake up , and i also went down and checked on him , despite that i could see him all the time from the balcony , but leaving him outside a shop , or a restaurant or other places , no, no , i would never do that . Yes we have a word for please ( unskyld eller unskyld mig - excuse me ) vild du være sød / venlig ( would you be kind ) , Tak ( thank you ) and so on . I have wright it before : No we don't say things straightforward , not us that are raised properly , and the most Danish are polite , so no ,i think that you have met some very angry types or people that were very stressed , or some of the people that were not raised properly . Thank you and have a wonderful day yourself and your love ones .

I agree with you about that doctors and hospitals takes to lightly on heath issues . Before we had some of the best doctors and hospitals in the world , in Denmark , and it is not only my opinion , it is a fact , but the government is using the money that should go to healthcare , in other places , that makes no cense , and it is getting more and more worse , and the doctors are very strict now , when you need medicine , even penicillin , because they say that the body can get to used to it , so some day it doesn't work anymore ( and that is actually true , but also when you are very sick and really need it it is hard to get), but also medicine for anxiety , it is almost impossible to get , even if you have got it from your doctor in many years , and still need it . The thing about that the doctors don't come to your home anymore is , that the doctors that came home to you before , was the same doctors that had worked all day at their practice or hospital , and they were so stressed and tired , so they made a lot of fatal mistakes , and some people died because of that , and they always rushed to the next sick person , to earn more money . But i remember when i was at the hospital , to get an operation , when i was 19 years old ( i am 59 now ) and it was real luxury to be at the hospital , and the doctors were excellent , the food were really good , and you got big portions , and they came and asked if you needed something , often , now i am scared to go to the hospital .But when that is said , i always have very good experiences with paramedics ( i have been driven to the hospital many times ,mostly because of very severe pneumonia ) , they are so well trained ( educated ) , extremely kind , take the time to find out what the problems is , they are extremely concentrated , and effective ( real life savers ), they makes you relax and they have a great humor ( often a bit dark , but i love dark humor ), and are very sympathetic .👍👍👍👍About the climate here in Denmark , i can only say i hate it . You may think that when you are born here , you would get use to all the cold , rainy , stormy , dark months , but , i cant take it . If we are lucky , we get 2,5 to 3 months with a nice temperature and not to much rain , and that is not much out of 12 months , where you struggle to get through them . What you say about the unpredictable weather , i immediately think of when my son was a little boy , and he was in kindergarten and the first 3-4 years in the school , i packed one very big backpack ( for adults )that i carried , and big sports bags ,and plastic bags , and it was all packed with clothes to every kind of weather , and different kind of shoes , boots , jackets , snowsuits , rain clothes , and rainboots ,( warm rain clothes , summer rain clothes , rainboots with thick teddy lining , and summer rain boots - and so on , and i brought it from our home to the kindergarten and later school , and back every day , on my cycle , with my son in a baby seat on the back of my cycle ( when he was in kindergarten ) and carried to the bus to his school and back again when he was still a little boy -every day , but my son should not be cold , or wearing wet clothes or wet shoes or feel to hot , i was super prepared , but i can see now that it was far to much .😂😂

Before we had a lot of Danish bakeries ( very good bakeries , with a large selection of danish , cakes and bread and dairy products ) , but they are almost gone , and instead there are many Arabic , Turkish and so on , bakeries , but i miss the Danish bakeries .I must say that you very well informed about the things you are talking about . I have seen a lot of other videos made of people from other countries , who lives in Denmark , and they are almost wrong about all they say about Denmark , The things you mention about strong alcohol , i can explain : Some supermarkets has , as you say ,strong alcohol behind glass , because then they can check if you are old enough to buy it , but in other places were there are self scanning , the machine is made so if you are buying strong alcohol , you have to get a employee to give you permission to buy the alcohol ,because they have to check if you are to young to buy it , and if you don't call or give sign for help from the employee , the machine are made so you cant buy it , and some supermarkets like Føtex , have both things : alcohol behind glass , the same place were you buy cigarettes , and the self scanning machines were you have to call or give sign to the employee , so he or she can see how old you are and if you are old enough he or she enter a code on the machine , that give you permission to buy it .You are right about bragging in Denmark , it is a big NO , and on that point and also on other points we are much like British people , and if you brag , people find you unsympathetic , not raised properly , uncivilized , self-absorbed , and it also a big no to talk loud in public placed , and again we are like British people . But i think you are wrong about that we are very directly : We are only directly if something is important to say to a person we know very well , and if it is for there own good - to help them . Actually we find it rude too be to directly , and again like our opinions of bragging , it is a big no . And a whole other thing about Denmark , and that is a very sad truth , and that is that people from other countries think that Danish people are the happiest people in the world , but NO , every fourth adult person in Denmark has been on a psychiatric ward or has been to a psychologist or psychiatrist , mostly for depression or anxiety , and every third adult are getting medicine for that , also people that haven't been to a psychiatric or a psychologist , or in a psychiatric ward , and that is very sad .

About your opinion on on how many things to choose from in Danish supermakets vs. French ditto, I think you have a point. I can of course be difficult to know why that is, but one thing, I believe, is, that the French are much more serious about and know more about food than Danes do (in general). Also (I don't remember the exact numbers) French people use a bigger percentage of their salary on foot than Danes do and then it's quite understandable to demand both better quality and more "things" to chose from 😊

Danish law put restrictions on how big grocery stores can be. The bigger they are, the stronger the limitations on when they can open and close, and what days they are enforced on closing days. Also the bigger they are the more they are taxed, as they are taxed per square meter. To be able to keep open as much as possible, they narrow down the size, which affects the selection options, as smaller stores don’t have room for large selection. The smaller stores also have a smaller staff, so keeping the more expensive alcohol behind bars prevents theft.

😊 Reading this 3 years after you wrote this and, all of it still very accurate and relevant. One éxample is your number 6 about not 'bragging' which I take the liberty of changing to simply just doing/working on things most Danes don't....Danes hate this as, it makes them feel insecure! The Danes even export this behaviour. Resently I was on a holiday in a wonderful African nation and, I constantly heard Danish tourists talking (almost chanting) about the country and people they visited, claiming, these African people now have to learn to do - what the Danes called "the rest of us" do !!!? The specific country in question, happen to be a top developed country in Africa, the population is young, strong, hard working and no, certainly shouldn't change anything at all! I suggest Danish people from Denmark simply stay home and, try to learn that not all people on this planet, have any desire (or requirement) to be like "the rest of us" from Denmark.. In "", simply because this behaviour comes from a very sad Scandinavian "law" called the Jantelaw.... A 'law"which has nothing in common with any judicial law anywhere on our planet but seems to have become the Danish "constitution"... 😮

@TonnyBredsgaard 😊 the very sad staff within the office of the Danish state attorney, ordered me to prove my birth right some years ago..??? Some hundred years family background, my birth certificate, my fluency in the Danish language and my passport wasn't enough according to this little psychopath...maybe this has to do with the theft from and, abuse of my Danish identy, - who knows or, it could have to do with the 27 people (100% innocent) the Danes have either completely destroyed or "just" killed by now, because they wanted to work with me on a wonderful project about our "fine" Danish "History" (the complete lies) 😰. Unfortunately it's not human possible to see immediately in a person, if he/she is good or evil hence my full contempt of the Danes... I was born in a place called Jylland as the daughter of the sad families, responsible for the Holocaust and, I live in Ireland, work for the government here hence, I'm vetted 100% Have a good Sunday and please check out the subjects "administering" and "preaching" in the place in which you live. Many of them ARE exactly as described by the lovely Cape Verdians I visited back in January: Completely insane😰! !

We don't small talk like other countries, but you can still do it to a dane. And if you do you will se the person open up and many times actually likes it. And about number 6, that's just a myth. Of course you can talk about your success to danish people. Of course you can be proud of yourself if you have done something good. I don't think we are much different there than in other countries. I don't think french people like when you bragging to much either.

40 degrees that's an ambulance, your life can be in danger and you will be partly unconscious. 39,5 and rising, I would call an ambulance. The winter:live with it, don't fight it. Be active in the winter too. Eat kale, lookup "grønkål", its a superfood. Unfortunately, the Danes have more or less forgotten our winter food. The Germans have not, they still eat sauerkraut, it gets them through the winter. In the winter, eat kale once or twice a week. Grønkål suppe, stuvede hvidkål, brunkål and others. Find an old recipe book, don't use modern recipes on the net. When "food-science" shall explain Grønkål, they say that without it, there would be no Scandinavia. It made sure that people were healthy in the old days. It is very interesting food. Latin: Brassica oleracea var. sabellica

More options, doesn't make your shopping easier.
