There are so many truly great speeches in Buffy over the course of the series.

Women praise this and talk bs about 'empowering girls', when all i see is giving one girl an unfair advantage, (slayer strength) which she uses to compete against other less fortunate girls who she is going to crush. How is this empowering? I'm so sick and tired of whenever you have a female strong character, women have to talk about 'empowering women'. as if giving one women/girl the opportunity to be strong that this is giving all girls the power to be strong. I'm also pissed that they had to make this whole 'girl being chosen because a bunch of men were sexisr' crap when no one asked for this. It unnecessarily creates hate and division between the sexes. Women creating a victim mentality and whining about these sexist men and blaming all men for this, making boys suffer who had nothing to do with it. I'm a man and I have never had a show that specifically taught me I can be whatever I want merely because I'm a male. You have far more shows that actually empwer girls more than boys but women think it's the other way around. it makes me angry.

Imagine what would happen if so many women instantly became so much stronger than men. I honestly don't know if we would make it out alive after everything we've done to them over the millennia.

And she's always complaining about not having a steady relationship...(and no I'm NOT talking about Angel, or Riley) I'm referring 2 Spike Who she blamed 4 Everything. Now here ' s a thought. Did you Ever think maybe it's you? Me and Kai had a very rocky start where we hated each other so much that we had to stop seeing each other.... But I didn't blame him for Everything, not taking the blame 4 anything because I'm gonna go right out and say it, Alot of it Was me! And I think that's pretty grown up to say that instead of how they handled it on the show! An this Always pissed me off, when they 1st slept together Spike said... And you can act as high and mighty as you like.... Ya know why that pissed me off? Because the writers took that Way 2 literally to the point where after 7 years of that crap hoping the show would get better (spoilers It didn't) Buffy became one of my least favorite characters! And I already know this is gonna upset people, but don't come crying 2 me about it, cause I have Never been a sympathetic person in my life and I Don't care about your lil show, I just wanted to make my point

I just a few months ago finished a rewatch of the entire series. Man, that ish holds UP. The best show from the 90s/2000s era, imo.

I so loved the whole of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. This is one of the reasons why.

When Buffy says, "I know a lot of you wish I hadn't been either," talking about being there. It was kinda satisfying to see Rona and Kennedy squirm just a little. They were angry because of what went down in the vineyard, and of course, they had every right to be, but they were probably against Buffy the most. Even faith leading the charge was dangerous. In the end it showed that no matter who was charge could still possibly have the same outcome. Heck, even before Faith took the girls to find the weapons, she made Giles, Dawn, Xander, Willow, and Anya go look for Buffy. She wouldn't let them help.

So...what happens if dudes get the actual slayer power? I mean, the fact that women get it is more of a fluke than anything, but also because men figured a man with that power would be uncontrollable. They picked a woman because they believed they could control a woman even with that power. But honestly, what matters most of all in any fight, is speed, reach, and mass. How hard you hit has comparatively little to do with your physical strength (augmented or not). Your physical strength doesn't matter at all except for how quickly you can accelerate a mass (such as your arm, leg, or a weapon) to a given velocity. F=MA, after all. So, the faster you can throw a punch, the harder the punch hits. But mass is also an issue. So, someone who weights 120lbs, who throws a punch at 90mph, hits nowhere near as hard as someone who weighs closer to 300 lbs but throws a punch at only 45 mph. If you've got enough mass, then even moving at less than 1mph can be devastating. Then there's reach. If your arm is 2ft long, and their arm is 2.5ft long...they're going to beat the shit out of you, and you'll barely ever touch them. Yeah, with training and a lot of practice, you can develop skills that can compensate to a limited degree, and might even be overwhelming against a completely untrained opponent. But that's a really dicey gamble to be betting your life on. There's also the fact that strength doesn't work at all like most think it does. Take Superman, for example. Sure, he's strong enough to lift a train car and swing it like a club. But the train car itself...is not strong enough to endure being handled that way. He'd have to grip it so hard, that it would instantly crush in his hands. And swinging it with that much force anyway would just fold the fucking thing in half...let alone after he's just crushed it merely by picking it up. Let's say that somehow Buffy is durable and strong enough to lift a car. She still can't STOP a car from running her over. She still only weighs maybe 150 tops...if she's all muscle and toned af. No matter how she plants her feet, the car will just bowl her over, or roll her over the top of it. Now, if she's braced against a wall that can resist being hit by a car...or if a car is dropped onto her from above, that's different. But just standing on open ground? Nope, she won't even slow the thing down, no matter how strong she is. Then there's the misrepresentation of just how useful firearms are. It's one of the reasons I've always preferred Butcher's "Dresden Files". Even exceptionally powerful supernatural beings still have to give way to physics. Energy is energy, regardless of whether it comes from nature or magic. It's why the supernatural world fears humans so much, and chooses to remain in hiding. With the kinds of weapons we've developed, our destructive power easily rivals their own. Sure, a gun won't "kill" a vampire, but it'll goddamned slow them down if it's got enough oomph. You dump a whole mag of high-caliber hollow-points into a vamp from a full-auto weapon...and they'll go down, and you can stake or decapitate them pretty much at your leisure. The Slayers are just not that impressive. They're not unimpressive, and it's not at all ok what's been done to all of them over the millennia, but they're not at all as terrific as they're made out to be. There are far better alternatives.

They had to end the show after doing this. The slayer was no longer unique and it opened the door for a bunch of psychotic slayers who appear in things like S5 of Angel and the Buffy comics. Those old men made that rule for a reason and this was Wheaton just throwing out the rule book because he'd written himself into a corner and didn't know how else to get out.

How old were y'all when you realized that "Conversation with a dead person" the title, foreshadows Jonathan's death. Because everyone alive had a conversation with someone who was dead or was going to die. Also this applies with the girl who was flirting with Spike, as he is dead too. But by the end she dies.

Activating all the potential Slayers may have helped defeat the First but what were the consequences. How many potential Slayers were in conditions even worse than what Faith went through that now have power? How long will it be, without a Watcher's Council, before some of those newly activated Slayers start pulling a Khan Noonien Singh and try to take over the world.

I remember watching this as a teen and being completely flabbergasted at what an idiot Buffy was. How did this suddenly become a thing about men deciding the slayers can't all use the power at once? And if this rule were created, wouldn't there probably be a logical reason as to why?
