Looks like you're in Florida from all the plants in the background. Where I live I see maybe one rabbit or a turtle every few weeks. None of them bother me, more concerned about rats or mice but everything else just kind of comes for a visit and takes off somewhere else
I dont trap rabbits yet. I raise rabbits and i build a "burrow" for therm out of 1x10. They casn get inside it to fee l safe. Its like your trap but open on both ends. I figure that i could easily make a box trap out of them. The fact that they smell like rabbit is probably a good thing. What do you think?
You've got your do gooders and your do badder's. The do gooders will let your critters go or smash your trap. The do badder's will steal your trap. I've learned to hide my traps.
How do you set the for on the trap, or hook the trigger on the trap to hold the door open? Do you cut a notch in the PVC for the rabbit to push against to spring the trap? I have made rabbit traps as a young boy and fought rabbits but I'm 68 years old now. I have even made rabbit traps using a stove pipe and can amigan one could use PVC pipe now because PVC wasn't around when I was a young boy. Using stove pipe or PVC you would dig a slanted hole in the ground and bury the stove pipe in the slanted hole and put a peice apple or a carrot in the bottom of the pipe, the rabbit would go down in the pipe to get the Apple or carrot and couldn't back out because the pipe was too slick and it couldn't turn around to climb or lump out. It worked because I've caught many of rabbits that way. Thank you for your video I really enjoyed it, it brought back a lot of memories.
This guy litteraly took the easiest trap design there is and made it WAY over complicated just so he could claim it's his design... I wouldn't buy anything this clown makes
Clearly you don't get the point of the video he's not trying to sell you anything. Go and buy a store bought trap if you don't like it. It's literally that simple. Some would rather build their own
never build one trap, you will starve 😏. I have 30, and a full freezer of critter meat. I love you design, I will make my replacements this way, most likely 2 or 3 a year. the sides, top and floor of mine are saw mill slabs with the bark pulled off
I use 2 screws on each side of the door. I put one at 3.5 inches from the bottom and the other at 4 inches from the bottom. Same thing on both sides of the door.
Could put a small window and cover it with wire. I dont think a rabbit will beat its head and nose on it like wire on the end traps and you could see whats in it.
Best bait for rabbits is no bait if u can put a tame rabbit in your trap for a couple nights or spray rabbit cover scent no opossums this works great guaranteed
That's funny. When I was a young boy, we made these traps for rabbits. Didn't have hardware cloth, so couldn't see inside. One day I went to check my traps and one of them smelled like skunk. Left that trap never to return to it.
How do you dispatch your rabbits once caught?

How do you train your dog. I got me some pup and need some help with getting them started.
Great job! Thank you a ton. I’m looking forward building some and putting them in rabbit runs
Thanks Rickey! Now be wery qwiet. I'm hunting wabbit. 😁
You are a genius 👏

Thank you for the thorough explanation

Thanks for the clear description and sizes on materials 👍
I caught rabbits, maybe a cat, and possums as a kid 60 years ago. Never a skunk...it was really fun as a child...
I stay in Anderson SC

Great job love your work thanks for sharing
What a load of total crap. You're suffering from delusions of adequacy... No self respecting rabbit would go near that pile of scrap wood...
Very nice design sir! Thank you for sharing it with us.

The best way to keep the dogs water fresh especially when you were not home is make sure the Commodus flushed

Where did you get those saw horses ?
Muinta coverssa não fica legal. E sim umas boas imagem vale mais que mil palavras.
making one today Rainey ,I'll post my catch ,Thanks.
Good video Rickey, Thank you.!!
Do you sell your traps? What type of apples do you use?
I was looking at his Facebook page and it appears that Mr. Ricky has gone home to be with our lord, last July.
What do you do with the box after a possum catch?
Eat the opossum and reset the trap.
How much would you sell em for... Paid shipping to SC
Good deal buddy I love it. Avid rabbit dog hunter myself and that's a good looking gum
good video
Very nice job! I like the swinging door design. It seems more reliable than a sliding door, which is what I built as a kid.
Thank you for this video!
Good job
Thanks
Thanks
You are a great TH-camr I Love your video.
Good video!
I get the 4 inch mark but why the 3 1/2 inch mark

You may very well be right. I have just done better without wire.
Nice video Mr Rickey thumbs up .... like your video and many thanks for the ideas...
Hey can you make a porcupine trap. Thank you!
I wouldn't know where to start.
I have a rabbit I’m trying to train my dogs with and he eats potatoes. Could you put that in a trap
I would buy one from you if you didn’t live so far
It's worth a try. I have just always used apples.
Make a video on catching one
Good idea. Just waiting for cold weather.
Where you from?
Where you from? What do you do with the rabbits you catch
@@codybogue3346 I live near Brunswick Georgia.
@@codybogue3346 I release my rabbits in my 4acre rabbit pen for beagle training.
Man those are pretty cool
It needs to age.. but for how long?
I usually build them in the spring and set them out in the weather until the fall. I start using them in the Fall.
Awesome thank you
Awesome trap. Thanks for the video. Built one and it worked the 1st time baited.
Best bait for rabbits is no bait if u can put a tame rabbit in your trap for a couple nights or spray rabbit cover scent no opossums this works great guaranteed
Bait it a few times till you have the smell from wild rabbits then you don't need bait
Nice design, i'm going to make a few.
That a really nice door system.
Wow thanks for your time to show how to build a trap with all wood. May God bless you always.
I like how u are making the traps for the same reason we are and I will be making one soon
What if you catch a skunk and cannot tell what is inside?
