He was so sick and yet he sang like this for his fans. We lost him not long after this. 😢 He had Glaucoma and at this point he could either barely see or was blind.Glaucoma is a serious and painful eye disease.

Elvis has been accused of lip-syncing this song. For one, that's ridiculous because Elvis NEVER did that in a live show. People say this because, if you pay close attention, there's a couple parts where his mouth doesn't quite match the vocals. This is because this show was filmed 6 weeks before he died for a TV special that aired 2 months after he died. The show had been post-produced, and instruments and overdubs were added to the song for TV. Why, I'm not sure. The original version is only Elvis on piano and very little else other than some background singing and drum cymbals being played and the regular piano player finishing the song. If you search this song but add "without overdubs," you can see the performance as it was done that night. You can also tell where things were added. ALSO, the very last high note was not Elvis. It was his background singer, Sherrill Nielsen, coming in to finish the last words "to me". You can tell this because Elvis pulls away from the mic before the note is finished, but it keeps going after. Just some fun Elvis facts. 😊

Bro, you've gotta check out the Live Aid Concert from 1985, specifically Freddie Mercury's (the lead singer's) crowd captivating performance of "Radio Gaga," part of a 20 minute set Queen did as their contribution to the cause. Wembley Stadium plus the pitch was elbow-to-elbow (normal capacity is 72,000, so maybe 100,000 people), and Freddie had them in the palm of his hand. Many consider this stage performance the greatest in history. And "Radio Gaga"? Lady Gaga named herself after this song, possibly simply as a tribute to this once-in-a-millennia performance. If you haven't seen it, wait until just after Freddie finishes "Radio Gaga." Incredible icing on the cake.

This was Elvis’s last public show. He was so sick and overweight and passed away a month later at his home, Graceland in Memphis Tennessee. Next to the White House; Graceland is the 2nd most visited house in America. He is called the King of Rock; but he said Jesus is the King. He grew up extremely poor. Lived in the black community housing projects. His love for gospel music the most. He loved the R&B he heard on Beal Street, where BB King had a club. He could not read music; no piano lessons or guitar lessons. He was self taught. He went to Sam Philips recording studio to make his mother a record. He sang it live at the Louisiana Hayride. The girls went crazy over him because he couldn’t sing without moving around. His song was sent to a few radio stations and within 3 days the stations got hundreds of calls to play it. RCA paid Sam Phillips the largest amount of money they ever paid an artist. From there he skyrocketed to the best Entertainer in the world. His manager even got a show in Hawaii to stream it live by satellite where a billion and half people watched in their homes all over the world! I truly want you to go down the Elvis rabbit hole and see your reactions. Believe me you will love it! Other pod cast people who never heard him, but did because they got requests to play Elvis.
