Starfield - Real Fix for FPS Drop After Closing Menus
So I have finally figured out how to fix the massive drop in FPS I been getting in Starfield anytime I open and the menus. The issue is the game does not like Loose Textures. In this video I should you that with 5500+ loose textures, the game will go from 80 FPS down to 10 after opening the menu 1 times after a fresh load. I then disable that mod and use my BA2 with over 6000 textures in it, including the 5500+ from that folder I disabled. With the BA2, all my textures work and no more FPS drop.

      The mod was tested and confirmed to work on Xbox, if you're having an issue, it is likely a mod conflict or something to do with your install. The problem isn't with the mod, it's with Starfield in general. Stop spamming the same comment ion different videos. I cannot help you, you need to debug you game.

      Depends on the variant, MK I & II are Class A, MK III is B, and MKIV/EM/EMOL are Class C from memory. Plus there's also Unity entries requirements (1-6) to see them in the vendor list. You can still spawn the MK I/II using console to skip the Unity requirements. These ships are OP a bit and the requirements are there to make it more lore friendly.

      So, I do still see drops if I Alt-Tab, but I can open/close the menu, usually once or twice , to get the FPS back up. Usually helps to wait for the FPS to raise back up in the menu before closing it. Still 100 times better than before and the game actually looks better as it's loading the hi-LOD textures better/quicker.

      It doesn't, I been using it for months. Saves get broken from adding and removing mods, having too many mods installed at once, the game itself, because the game is bugged. You are the only person complaining this mod alone broke your save.

    I asked about Vlad’s villa before I watched this video. Apparently, the current mod doesn’t have this update, so even though this is a day old, I assume this hasn’t been uploaded yet. Am I correct? I’ve only one book in the lodge.

      I believe Lighthorse updated the mod already, so there should be 4 books. Might need to delete the mod and re-add it.

I know on Nexus he updated it and moved the book in the standalone ship mods and the current L-K Ships ESM I'm using has the books move to the same place he moved them, a shelf instead of the table.

      You mean the furnished version? No, depending on how you installed it, you might need to install the update and install that option again as the option overwrites a few files.

      I tell you, they rather release paid mods and try to milk more money then fix their game. If modders can do what we have done in such short time, then why can't they fix their game. Some of these mods should be part of the base game. Place Doors Yourself should at the very lease, add it as an option so people can choose if they want to do it themselves.

    I’m on xbox and am having the same issue with the vendors. But I was able to get the ship that’s behind vlads house. No issue with it so far. The ship that is by the Apollo landing site was having issues though. When I took off to orbit it had a weird camera glitch and after I somehow fixed that it made it to where it wasn’t letting me fast travel to any location with an icon. For example Atlantis and lodge.

      I did notice, sometimes you have to stand up from the pilot seat after taking off with one of these ships and then re-enter the pilot seat. I am guessing it's a base game issue with placed ships, at least for now.

    On xbox, got the ghost emol from new homestead i think, i just cannot get the starborn builder to work. Some of the modules dont want to connect and the builder errors still get in the way of saving. Love the ghost though

      Thanks, good to know at least it is working. I assume you are talking about that mod that lets you add item modules to the Guardian ships. I am sure there are probably conflicts between the two. I would have to download that mod myself and look at it's ESM. I did just update the ESM to these ships so at least 4 of them will spawn in the world and sent Lighthorse the files. I tested the update and it appears to be working for me. Saw the ship at Vlad's and on the Moon at the Rover location. I did notice he moved the ships around so only certain ships spawn at certain locations, so Cydonia is probably the best place to test since, there's LVL 1 ships there and you only need 1 entry for them.

      So, I do see a conflict for the Scorpius ship and Lighthorse's new ships that would cause problems. He still has the Vanilla Condition that ship builders can't edit the ships if they don't have access to Large Modules. I'm going to try patching it and see if TN's Builder thing will work.

      @@keithvsmith I ended up getting tn's all in one and separated categories, then moved them all up the 2nd 3rd and 4th spots and deleted a gunsling mod before my game would load and most of it seems to be working. Just not able to save custom starborn ships yet, I'm also on ng+ like 10 or more thanks to the oldmansbeard mod and I did those unity jumps after installing the LK no rings Mod but the ghost was purchasable at new homestead along with a few others. May need to do a unity jump for them to show up, the starborn section in tns mod doesn't even show up in the builder until you've made at least 1 unity jump, found that out when I started a new game.

      Moved the the m class and starborn guardian mod down all the way in my load order and I was able to make a starborn ship, the landing bay module is still a little goofy but it worked.

    I followed your steps, exactly. With two different characters. Both have been through the unity twice. One is a level 98, the other a level 140. I even disabled all the other mods in my list. I just cannot get it to work on Xbox, no matter what I do. EDIT: I forgot to say thank you for your help, thus far.

      No problem, and to confirm you tried Cydonia/Hopetown/Neon/NewHomestead? The ships will only show up at those places. Well those the the 4 shipyards. Another NOTE: Try disabling other mods while testing to make sure there's no conflict. Finally, GreaseMonkey663 found out that mods on Xbox are broken and sometimes require special steps to get them working again when loading a save. Steps to test: Go into your Creations > disable all mods > close the game > launch the game > go back into Creations > re-enable your mods > load you save.

      @@thomaslamb8635 Well, Greasemonkey663 got one of the ships to show up, so all I can do is say wait long and come back and try again later. Maybe try buying a random ship or something. Those NPCs must be temperamental about resetting their ship list.

      L-K Ships is not my mod, but that in mind, you need to get their inventory to reset. That means waiting at a minimum of 2 days, maybe more. When I tested it, I just waited a whole week to be safe.

      @@thomaslamb8635 Yeah, took me a while to figure it out, but comment notifications are turned off by default and likely why many TH-camrs never respond, because TH-cam is stupid and sets it off on default.

      @@thomaslamb8635 I'm not sure where you are looking, maybe I am misunderstanding. But they should be in the list of ships for sale, not the actually shipbuilder section. Also, they have requirements depending on the ship based on lvl I believe and number of times you entered the unity.

      What mod? L-K Ships has no upgrades that can be done in the ship builder

      There is no conflict, the Class M and starborn mod let's you customise all starborn ships including the L-K ships, scroll to the bottom of each category and there will be a "Starborn *Reactor/gravdrive/cargo/etc* computer" module that fills all the requirements. Enjoy!

    Kevin, great video! I've been trying to make sense of the item ID crashing problem for months. Kind of surprising they chose hex decimal for unqiue id's in a procedural that's going to generate tons every time you play. Wonder what they did to fix it? Thanks so much!

    This was awesome. Thank you for this, brother. After hours of testing,for my load order the cut of is 139 with certain mods 140. It does not matter what quind of mod it is or how big it is. It can be a hat, a 1gb clothing mod or a perk tweak/ change. After the 139 esm the game as you stated in my case just does not have enough time to load the rest of the load order. Resulting in broken mods terrain not loading or my flicking favorite everything working but when returning to the lodge it is broken where the carachter keeps falling trough the floor. I wonder why this is not discussed in the community more since it is a huge handicap when it comes to big load orders. I come from fallout where that 253 esp count combined with esl files can reach in my case to 500 plus. I had a stable build before the may 15 update that was limited to 137 esm files and I did not update my game until after the ck dropped. I knew that updating will cause me to blow up the load order especially with the nif file change which required many mods to be updated. Combine all of the sfse mods that needed updating and after almost 3 weeks I just got my load order running smoothly with a maximum possible esm count of 139. Today before watching your video after messing and trying to add anything else I came to the conclusion that as you are stating is the Esm count NOT pc, not mods not being compatible or game files. Do you have any clue if bethesda can fix or alleviate this issue. Again THANK YOU for the video it was incredibly helpful. I was loosing my mind reinstalling, verifying,deleting the data and root folders when it was sweet old Tod f...ing with me.

      I submitted a bug report. I found this back in the November Thanksgiving Update and it just seems no one wants to believe me, no matter how many videos and how much evidence I show on it. I wish I could get to 139 BTW, lol. This current load order is stuck at 80ish I believe and I'm tired of constantly merging mods to fix it, because then I can't update them if they have updates. It appears to me it's some sort of timeout issue which shouldn't be hard to fix. It's probably some setting in the game to get loading times down. Think about how long FO4 or Skyrim took to load compared to Starfield. My job is a Tier 3 Support Technician. I work between Technical Support and the DevSeOps team where my jobs is to triage issue and figure out what is user error or a bug and then give repro steps to the dev team to fix the bugs. I mean this is what i do for a living, figure out what's broken.

      I am not at home but this is an example of a LO from a few days ago. With a lot of trial and error, I was able to get it to 139. Buuut even though I tested mostly everything I can think of, it is still possible to find something broken somewhere 20 hous into the playtrough. 😆 🤣 😂 😹 I have 700 plus hours in Starfield 500 are me trying to make it work.

      The Hopetech Engine will show up at any Shipbuilder that sells Hopetech Common Landers parts. MKI at LVL 1, MKII at LVL 20, MKIII at LVL 30, and MKIV at LVL 40. Same goes for the Firefly engine, but looks like all 4 were set to Player LVL 1 instead of being LVL gated.

      @@delindsay The sad thing is the game is crap, but keeps pulling me back. I stopped playing it back in November, because stuff was so broken and recently started playing it again. No I stopped again. I just can't get the game to work right with all of my mods and don't feel like merging them all down to make less ESMs again to get it working. On a side note: saw your feedback thing about buying mods. Personally, I don't agree with giving them money for broken stuff and overpriced quest mods, but that is just my opinion. What other's do, including yourself, is your business. I can't judge. Plus, you are in a unique position with the videos you do. You can't review a mod if you don't own it. Hopefully they fix this game, it has potential even if it's a loading screen simulator, lol.

    Hey, thank you for the awesome mod. If you have a minute, I would like to ask you a question regarding esm and how they start acting all kind of weird after I would say 120 to 130 plugins. This has been happening since Starfield was released. I have an extensive load order, which stands at 380, with many mods being sound,textures, and replacers. Out of those, 141 are esm plugins. I have had full 80 - to 90-hour playtroughs without a hitch but wouldn't be able to add any new plugins on said playtrough past the 140 plugins. Game woulden load, geometries wouldn't render or CTD on save load. Removing the newly added plugin would fix the issue. I had resorted to creating multiple different playtrough profiles, each containing about the same amount of plugins if I wanted to play with different mods. I thought that with the official CK release and mod support, we are, and here is a quote: Full Master - This is what all mods containing ESMs have been using up to now. A full master takes up one of the 253 slots in the plugin load order (excluding the base game and DLCs). The same as it was in Fallout 4, disregarding the medium and small esm counts. What am I missing? Why can't we get past 140-150 plugins if the limit is 253? This was a long wall of text. I apologize, but I can't seem to find any answers. If you can give me some advice, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you.

      Already responded to you other comment. So far, getting rid of these <Error: Could not be resolved> appears to be helping. Found one mod I had to get rid of, because if had like 600 errors like that. Cob's Starship Customs

      As a follow-up, the cleaning up of errors helped a little. I went from crashing when trying to start a new game to it working. My old save is broken though and I tested a mod that I know conflicts with nothing and having it last in the order. The mod was not working. Not to mention multiple mods add E/R/Space options like being able to restrain NPC for rarest and that option was showing on the ladder to enter the ship when it should only should show on NOCs. There is definitely an issue with this game loading mods.

      BTW, as per the official info. I believe we are supposed to be able to use 254 Full ESMs, 256 Medium and 4096 Small. That does include any base game/DLC stuff as the number is based on how many combinations of letters/numbers are in 2 digits from 00 - FE. That being 256, we only get 254 though because FD (use the next 2 digits for their load order, AKA 256) is reserved for the Medium and FE for Small (use the next 3 digits for their, AKA 4096). FF is reserved for unique spawned items such as your ship/weapons/armor/etc and hence they had to do some update for the FF FormID to fix the broken saves that were happening because if you waited too long before entering a NG+, they'd just run of out FF###### FormIDs to create new items. I currently have 200 ESMs in my load order, 165 Full, 4 medium, and 31 Small. Granted I could most of those large ones small, especially the Archive ONLY ones. One main problem though is right now Edit doesn't allow Small ESMs to be masters, which means, in order to create patches, they must all be large. Who knows when he will get an update out for xEdit to fix the stuff that needs updating for Starfield's new way of doing things.

      We should be able to get to 253 in theory. What I am seeing the game just breaks and stops loading them at some point and you may be onto something with the playthrough/saves. This current save, I can't get mods over 80 to load correctly, they will partially load, but not function as intended. Acting like a broken mod. I swear one of my past playthrough's had over 100 ESMs working. I will have to test a new playthrough and see if a new game helps.

      So, I might be on to something. I started checking all of my ESMs for errors in xEdit and I am already finding a bunch of ForrnID in entries that are broken. Some straight from Bethesda to do with quests. Anything with a <Error: Could not be resolved> is a problem. Means the game can't find the data. I am making an educated guess that too many of these ends up with the game just giving up.

      Hum, wonder if it's because the CreationKit wouldn't let me add the skeleton.rig files to the archive. Let me see if i can fix that and get those 2 files added.

      @@keithvsmith not sure, could be my load order maybe? I have an astomech mod that works only when I disable all creations, close the game, open it, re-enable creations and load back in. I'm no modder so idk if that means anything.

      @@GreaseMonkey663 I checked on PC, you are right, for some reason the animations don't like being archived. When I use loose files on PC, they work. If I try to use an Archive, it breaks, trying to figure out a fix. I'm not familiar with archive as with PC, I just use loose file most of the time.

      If you mean the original fan, I don't know. I no longer have the system. There are many videos of various fan that will work with a Dell Alienware, just search for them.

      I believe the R13 and R14 use the same case, the R15/16/17 are "slightly" updated models with top 240 support. Meaning the actual metal cage is very similar in all 5 versions and some Dell Pavilions use the same metal cage as well.

      @@playzboi4784 The R15 240 is top mount, so the hoses might not be long enough. I recommend the NZXT Kraken 240 AIO. That is what I installed in the video, the hose are long enough to reach the front of the case and it uses the same retention collar that the stock 120 AIO uses. So, I took that collar off of the stock AIO's CPU Pump/CPU Block and put it on the Kraken.

    I'm able to import and modify my .mesh file, but upon trying to export, I get an error that reads something like "Auto Smooth" not recognized. I'm using Blender v.4.1. If it helps, I could try to post an image somewhere and provide a link, but I have found that YT deletes any comment I leave with a live link.

      That is likely a question for the moth author who made that import/export tool. I remember I was using an older version of the mod, because an update broke it for me. I have Blender 3.6 BTW.

      This is one of the easiest AIOs to put in the R13. You can re-use the stock AIO's mounting collar. Just make sure to buy a Micro USB to USB cable, because the screen uses USB and it comes with a USB header cable. The Motherboard doesn't have any USB Headers, so you have the run a regular USB out the back of the case into a regular USB Port.

      @@slitheriz The AIO Pump has two wires coming off of it. The Micro USB connector that goes to the USB Header by default as I explained before. You want to buy a regular Micro USB to USB cable though or reuse an old Cell Charging cable if you still have any and run that out the back of the case to a regular USB Port. The other connector has a 4 Pin Pump header and connectors for the fans to plug into. The Pump Header will plug into the same header on the motherboard as the stock AIO. There are many review videos that go over the connections of the AIO.

      You have to remove the bottom plastic piece. On mine, there were 2 screws at the back of the case. Once I removed those, the bottom plastic piece just slid off. From there you have to drill out the rivets that hold the cage to the bottom of the case. Finally, at the back of cage, there's a push tab that you push on and the cage should slide out.
