With the start of the long awaited AFF Suzuki Cup, many local Singaporean football fans wonder if Team Singapore is able to catch up with the competition.
Local players and teams have always been the underdog, even when it comes to local football fans; but is there good reason for this? Or have local football fans actually been focusing on the wrong things all this while?
This video was filmed in 2019 before the Covid-19 pandemic, with the help of Football Association of Singapore in lieu of the World Cup Qualifiers.

What happens when your baby is deemed "incompatible with life"?
มุมมอง 31K3 ปีที่แล้ว
Most expectant parents in today's modern world, would opt to terminate a pregnancy if their child was diagnosed with a condition such as Trisomy 18; a condition that traditionally, is deemed as "incompatible with life." Trisomy 18 occurs in 1 in every 5,000 live births; with a relatively low survival statistic, so it is completely understandable why most parents would not want to birth a child ...

    Selfishly being the child to birth says the woman in the introduction. How dare she. Many parents choose this option because they don’t want to kill their own baby. Who gets to decide whether a child’s life is worth living even for a short while? Killing the child in utero is never ever right.

    My son is 27today, but at the time he was born we didn't know if he would Service to this age. I was blessed by being born in a town fourth miles from the Mayo clinic in Rochester, MN. If I hadn't been there is no guarantee that Joshua and I would even be alive now. I had gotten a form of eclampsia called Help syndrome. So I was induced at 29 1/2 weeks pregnant. Josh was only 2lbs 9oz at birth. He had tubes everywhere the first time I got to hold him. But what a privilege to have the chance to do so. I have never been so happy as I was the day we got to bring him home at seven weeks old. He has had his own set of problems, but no one should have the right to say that a person should live or die. They don't know what the future holds. My name is Cynthia Raaum, may God bless and keep you.

    Sorry it's so sick that disabled people are treated as if they shouldn't get love or be in this world because of how they look or if they'll only be on earth for a day or 2. If a baby is able to make to full term then that are compatible with life. Yeah I'll just abort the life growing inside me because they arent a typical baby. I cant tell other women what to do with their bodies but it's just something I could never do.

    EVERY child is compatible with life!!! I’m so tired of horrible people that judge loving, caring parents for allowing their child to LIVE! None of us know how long we will be on this earth!!!! God bless EVERY parent that chose to care and love their baby… and not cause it extreme pain by killing it in the womb! It takes a special beautiful person to love a child so much, knowing you will probably not have it very long…. But those precious hours with that blessing are so special 🙏🏻

    Compatible with Love and Joy! Yes! That is exactly right for my son with Trisomy 21, who lives with non-correctable heart defects, has survived 7 heart surgeries, and is 36 yrs old now. Being the parent of a child with special needs has it's challenges, no question. And, I can honestly say I am a better person because of my son, who is one of the best people I know! Having lost a young adult son to drowning, my heart knows loss also, and sends a hug to yours. The Love remains.

    When I got pregnant with my third child I was 36, and was 38 with out fourth and became pregnant again at 40 and delivered at 41. My doctor starting asking us with our third if we wanted to amniocentesis and we chose not to because we knew that whatever God chose for us we would deal with it. Would it have been difficult, absolutely especially having other children but we never once said that if the baby had issues that we would just abort/kill it. Not my place to decide who lives and who does not.

  • @Summonearth
    @Summonearth 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

    In the end it should be up to the parents to decide if they want to bring a child that could had a condition that could mean a short life span or a life full of disabilities/pain. People might say that child deserve to live even if it is brief but what about the parents and child themselves? The emotional trauma of watching their child die within a few dies or knowing that they would live maybe two decades at best or they may never live fully independent can take its toll on everyone. A child will suffer in agony for who knows how long, And if there are other children involved, well we seen plenty of stories of more "healthier" children being neglected or ignored even if unintentionally by parents who have to focus so much on their attention on the special needs children that leaves the "healthier" children feel neglected and can leave built up resentment. And don't get me started on the financial cost of taking care of such special needs children. And while people will say "give up the child for adoption if you don't want it so badly," that also has it own special mental and emotional toll and unfortunately a lot people these days prefer healthier children more than children who needs more special needs plus that is going to open another can of worms. In the end parents should decide if they want to deal with the sacrifices and the toll to bring such children to the world and if they decide they can't than that should be their choice.

    Im not sure. I would obviously want to have my child, and fight for it, but at the same time I feel that it would be selfish to force my child to suffer, just to satisfy my longing for him or her. No one can ever say that a life of permanent medical intervention is a good one. My ( adult) best friend opted for no recussitation and palliative care only when her body was no longer able to survive without medical intervention. She was able to make those wishes known, my father too when he was ill.( and later died) I can understand their choices, even though I didnt want to lose them, but a newborn cannot tell you what it wants, it just suffers, as a way of life. I couldnt do that to a child of mine, but I understand that other people feel differently, and i respect their choices too. My condolences for your loss,.

    My heart hurts for the parents, the brothers and the extended family. This is a sad and fraught decision for many. Personally, I would not subject a child to a short time in a NICU, when I knew that an accident of nature had created an infant who could not survive without extensive and expensive medical care. In my view this is keeping a doomed infant alive because we can. I write these words with a heavy heart. In the 1950s my mother miscarried 3 times before the last of us was born. She didn’t talk about these babies until near the end of her life 45+ years later. But she loved them dearly, missed the might have been, and carried that burden silently because that’s what was done. Intellectually, I understand the whole gift of god point of view argument but I don’t accept it. I want to be respectful of people’s beliefs (well, not all beliefs.) I came of age when abortion wasn’t legal and knew 3 classmates who died from illegal abortions. When the pill became available it was so empowering for females of my generation. And Roe followed soon after; it never occurred to many of us that people would take that choice away from us because of their religious notions. It’s really very complicated and very very difficult and sad. I know these parents did what seemed best. I’m very sorry they lost their sweet daughter but I’m more sorry that the daughter was put through the inevitable.

      It's interesting that people speak as if you can just press the undo button on an unborn baby as if their life never happened. They will have to die to not be here anyway. They will suffer from being killed by abortion. Babies can feel pain from at least 8 weeks old. At least if they're born they can receive pain relief when/if they're dying surrounded by those who love them. Abortion is a cruel way of dying. Read how it is performed! I wish people knew this. I personally would not do it. I would not want to be trapped like that. I don't think it's fair to trap kids in a life of pain and suffering. I wouldn't do it to mine. Edited to add: This woman's experience is just one example of why I wouldn't do this. None of the very few who live will ever have a quality of life that's worth living. They start out with no chance of living independently or being healthy and I think that's mean. It's hard enough to make it when you start out fine. Life is hard... You talk about love. Love them enough to let them go. You take the hit so they don't have too.

      Unfortunately we are increasingly in a world that takes away options from parents. These parents chose to take the risk and I applaud them for loving the child they had and doing their very best to get them the care they needed. Not every family would see this as the best choice, but in the US that choice has been taken away from many parents. If we're going to force every pregnant person to carry to term we have to support them and the children afterwards. As a society we don't seem willing to do that and we will be poorer for it.
