We as a fan are so lucky
Once again they are remembered!
Wonderful!
One of the best true songs of all time. Goosebumps
Niles, Heather and Vicki, you have no idea how much I love this clip!
I'm Canadian, and loved Gordon Lightfoot's version. Billy does it justice and more.
Wow! Just stumbled on this, and amazed they covered this song with fiddle and banjo! We had same idea, and released vid, thinking Punch Brothers were only ones that chose this style of arrangement! Billy and his group, what an amazing job well done! I'm a fan!
Nice cover! Billy's voice is a good fit, but for me, the tempo is a bit too fast. The band is excellent (as usual) but I miss the percussion that comes in mid song on the original. I've heard a number of covers of this amazing sea ballad, and Billy Strings' version is right up there, but for my ears, none have quite the power of Gordon Lightfoot's original vocal and arrangement,
That girl screaming is absurd lol
@@kamranzafar6937 Honest to goodness. The entire second set
I just love to listen to Billy sing. He does not need fancy guitar playing to steal my heart ❤️
i hope he plays this in michigan in october. i will cry like a little baby.
Peace to those who died and those they left behind. Miss you in TC Billy❤
Magical...
Awesome, and very underrated blues man. 🇺🇸😎🙏🙏🙏
My dad showed me this song and I’ll never forget that moment
Wow very interesting!
👍
So darn cool!
I think Gordie would love this.
It may be noted that only one crew member was actually from Michigan. Most of the dead were from Ohio (14) and Wisconsin (8). And the ship sunk in Candadian waters.
Prob first song he knew by heart🤙
Minnesota local here. Thank you for representing for the Edmund F Billy!! My grandpa worked in the iron mines so a lot of Minnesotans have a lot of pride for the Edmund fitz and the iron trade and boating part of our town in Lake Superior. Billy has the best covers man I love this.
The Fitz normally stopped at a mill in Silver Bay, Minn., but on this particular day, picked up its load at the Burlington Northern Railroad Dock No. 1 in Superior, Wisconsin, so use of the word "mill" in the song is probably erroneous. Also, while most of the lost crew were from Ohio (14) and Wisconsin (8), two were from Minnesota.
respect from the UK well done Billy and co
😎. That’s so good!
Epic. RIP Gord.
Man Billy nailed it Great job
I love this song. Gordon Lightfoot was awesome!! RIP
fantastic
Every Nov. here in Mich. this song is played as if on a non-stop reel. Surprised Billy can even stand hearing the song. Now that he moved out of Mich maybe he’s homesick.
Have they done this since
Beautiful voice
The Lake, it is said never gives up her dead
Thanks for capturing these moments!
Dont forget the Arthur Anderson, who went back out to help her. He still sails the great lakes
Never forget
Dose any man know where the love of Gods goes when wind and the waves get higher ,, chilling!
As usual, lighting crew has no idea who else to highlight during any of the solos.
Very nice ❤
Gordon is smiling , great job 👍👍😊
He did a great job!
Respectful, thoughtful, and better than the average cover……by anyone!
They always do 10 minute jams on the wrong songs! Cmon, no fiddle !
Awesome, ladies! That was cool.
This song is one of those when you start playing it you gotta finish the whole song! Amazing!
Almost as good as Brian Burns
This was done very well, but i always enjoyed the powerful drums from the original!
As a Yooper, I would like to thank Billy for honoring the crew of Edmund Fitzgerald
Every time I watch this, I'm impressed with Billy's voice. I know he's a master guitar picker, but I think he sings this well too. I'm sure it's not an easy song to sing.
And he sings it with Lightfoot's Ontario accent too. Listen to how he pronounces "Detroit" in this song - he says it in three syllables: "De-TROY-it" exactly like Ontario Canadians do. Only someone who's listened carefully to this song would pick that phrasing up. Also, I think Billy's voice is changing. And for the better. His tone is getting deeper, stretching back into the bass-baritone range. It's a solid and expressive voice. It's fun to hear him grow into his talent over time. He is a remarkably talented artist.
And masterfully, he makes it sound inevitable.
Think that Mr Lightfoot would highly approve Simply excellent!!!
Beautiful rendition! I have loved this sad song since I was a little girl, and I still have my parents' old 45 record.
