On the GSM 850 band, PCS1900 can still interfere but is much weaker (reasons not clear), and therefore almost inaudible.

⚠ Perform these operations at your own risk! You no longer have to buy old cellphones batteries and pray they work. Refurbish/recell/restore them while saving money & materials! I have done it successfully with over 30-40 batteries of Samsung, Nokia, Motorola, LG, Sanyo, and more. Note: Please recycle the old battery cell appropriately. Using T-Mobile US' 2G GSM Network in 2024: My Experience
Very neat Mobile Phones & Tech Casio cell phone also T-Mobile told me that the 2G is still used right now for GPS signals.
i have been wondering about this. Do you just set the PLMN to whatever the tracfone wants and wait for it to register? also, I'm surprised the firmware doesn't stop everything from working because you have zero service days left. Does it let you make calls? what about when minutes run out because the phone is keeping track internally? is it enforced on the phone itself? i had thought about doing this and then trying to reverse engineer the USSD to add service days and minutes, but maybe that's not even necessary for it to work
Hi, thank you for leaving such an insightful comment, it's a rare sight. The prepaid minutes are added with some sort of encoded SMS to an internal shortcode. If one were to decrypt/reverse what the phone expects, it might be possible to increase the minutes. You can call fine, but it depends on the phones - S125G will use 1 unit/min I believe, while the LG 440G never loses minutes. A phone without minutes will not be able to pick up the call (see 1600b video).
First!!!!
What am I looking at?
Visualization of the radio spectrum in the 1900mhz band. From 1930MHz to 1945MHz
Wait a second, the AX4270 same as display like calling VX6100 and VX4650! but that’s cool that AMPS network
SGH E490
wow, i've never seen a AMPS network working this year (i hope you can show us the tutorial)
I have Fujitsu F01-a in my collection. With the same problem with second display. Unfortunately, it’s doesn’t work with European SIM cards, but has unlocked status. Any service or repairs of these devices almost impossible
These cannot be unlocked to my knowledge, if it said "Invalid UIM" or similar it means it's locked. Beautiful device nevertheless.
what kind of configuration are you using with your openbts network?
It was with an Ettus USRP1 clone, I have since moved to Osmocom.
were you operating your network on the 850 MHz band? i've got some old tri-band GSM phones (850/1800/1900) that i would like to use, but my main concern is the legality of transmitting on licensed frequencies.
I operate in the GSM 1900 band for the best compatibility with my old phones, and to avoid interference. GSM 900 band would be best if you can pick an ARFCN which overlaps with the ISM band range. What are the phones?
@@mobilephonesandtechi've got a Samsung SGH-x427m, an SGH-A127, an SGH-A197, a Pantech C300, and a Motorola Razr V3 and these phones are all locked to Cingular/AT&T
WOW ITZ ULTRA LENGEDARY?!?!? 😱
How do I ADB on a Mac?

I miss cdma too 😢
I started to think that small businesses can use old cellphones as extensions like normal IP phones if they don't do long phonecalls so it's less e-waste.
That's essentially how the system is set up, using a PBX (asterisk) designed primarily for IP softphones!
@@mobilephonesandtech that's incredible, and it's less cables creating a mess in the workspace because it's wireless like a normal network.
Can you please make a video how to build your own network with osmocom
It is far too complex to show in a step-by-step video, a written guide would be much more suitable.
Atleast what version of Linux are you using to run Osmocom like Ubuntu, kali Linux, dragonOS Ect…
@@giuseppegamer4090 I'm using stock Ubuntu 22.04, but DragonOS should work the same. I used the guide from Philtel as a basis for setup.
@@mobilephonesandtechoh alr thanks
Is there a method like this for a galaxy s5?
No.
This is incredible, I wish I could get someone that knows exactly how to set this up at home (of course I need to purchase the equipment)
It works so great, too bad there is no easy/viable method for SMS to the real network. Voice & data is good enough for DIY :)
I have the black 8Gb one!
What kind of hardware do you use to create that base station? Does it support GPRS/EDGE data?
Used the SDR USRP B210, and yes. You can see the EGPRS attach icon (EDGE), and it works.
This will erase photos?
Only if you use `*2767*3855#`.
@@mobilephonesandtechit may be a dumb question, I’m not all that savy with tech stuff but by chance would this code work for the sgh c417 or sgh a737
Do you know if those themes are pre-installed or downloaded online? Some look cool and very 2000s like
Both, the phones often have a few themes preinstalled already.
easy & straight forward. Thank you!
what can i do if it is only charging and i don't know how to fix it?
Find a cable with data transfer.
Is it possible to use 1g phones with real network?
That is not possible.
That’s a pretty good idea to Reuse my X480 battery but does an hair dryer work well as an heat gun?
It won't work as efficiently as a heat gun with variable temp.
I have a Motorola V60 from Cingular. Would I still be able to use it with any mobile network in the U.S. today?
If the V60 is the GSM version (with SIM slot, not the V60t) and is network unlocked, there is a small chance. But you have to get around the network issues shown.
@ I just want to use it as a dumb phone. Just for calls only
i have old af speakers, and when someone calls me i can hear that sound lol
That’s so old
so is this one of the few gsm cellphones that t-mobile still allows you to use? if so, im buying one. i have a t-mobile sim, but it only seems to work in modern cellphones. 2g DOES work on the smartphone, but when i put my sim in an older gsm cellphone, nothing. it wont even recognize the sim card in most older gsm cellphones.
No, as you can see, the phones are kicked off very quickly. I used a MVNO SIM card because T-Mobile main SIMs have been modified to be rejected by these old phones, just one of the many steps they implemented to block 2G usage.
ah geez,, i see. i had mint mobile for a while, and that worked on 2g with old gsm cellphones just fine. im back on t-mobile now, but i think im going to try out red pocket mobile so i can use older 2g cellphones again. t-mobile is too expensive anyhow,, especially since im also paying at&t $75 a month to have a copper landline at home.
Hello. Thank you for the great video. Everything was pretty straight forward and worked right up to the point of installing the apk. Unfortunately, the latest Google Messages apk requires SDK 25, and my Kyocera Dura XV only has SDK 24. To get around this I found a legacy version of the APK on the web, and was able to install it successfully on my flip phone. So far, so good, but this is where it falls apart. @ 1:28 you point to a "custom" menu that my flip phone simply doesn't have. Ergo, I'm not able to "add" the app or an icon. Ergo, I can't open the Google Messages app to configure it. Is there something I'm doing wrong that I don't see the "Custom" option at the bottom of my screen? Thanx for any help you can give. Subscribed and thumbed up....<;^)
There might be a "tools" menu or similar where all other applications show up (eg. Kyocera DuraXV Extreme does this), did you try looking around? You may also be able to add a shortcut on the home screen. What phone is it?
Melody 7- Minuet in G Melody 4- Humoresque Melody 12- Euro House Melody 13- Die Forelle Melody 15- Habanera
Cameron Diaz in the commercial
I’ve been trying to install the APK pure app but it keeps saying that the file doesn’t exist or no directory
1:13 same folder as Minimal ADB and Fastboot, and the filename depends on whatever you have.
Love it!! Literally the same ringtone I used on my LG PM225 incoming call with ID video 😊
really cool, by the way is this a Nokia 6016 or 6019?
Nokia 6016i.
I remember my aunt from the us coming back home with one of these and i would play around with it, it obviously had no service as it's a sprint cdma phone in a gsm-only country
blud has 1G 💀💀💀💀💀💀
it is like that tho you could get a gsm station or something
Scary in dark and Cool in Light. But 100% A Nice Phone. My friend and i need it!!!!
My kyocera 701kc is not connecting to my pc, any help? T_T
Try another cable, some are charge only.
@mobilephonesandtech solved, thank you!
OMG, is this the way to also enable CDMA phones 😮???
In a way, yes, any tri-mode phone supporting AMPS can be usable! Shame that AMPS does not support network date & time or SMS... it also drains the battery of these phones very quickly.
@@mobilephonesandtech I see, that’s so cool
I still have mine
omg, thats really cool! but is that a nokia 3560 or 3595?
You're right! It's a Nokia 3595 with field test display.
Seeing a Verizon CDMA phone connected to T-Mobile GSM just feels so weird to me even though i know it also has a dedicated GSM modem for roaming
Indeed, it's one of the few GSM 1900 capable feature phones from the Verizon CDMA era. Works great still, one of my favorites :)
@@mobilephonesandtech in my opinion someone in UK has the same phone but it was connecting to GSM 900/1800, gotta love this phone :)
