Welcome to Hapatoni, Marquesas
Working as a guide on an expedition cruise ship in April, 2023, here is a video of the amazing welcome we were given as we drove our guests in zodiacs to land at the village of Hapatoni, on the island of Tahuata, part of the Marquesas group of Polynesian Islands.

Leaving Puerto Williams
มุมมอง 135ปีที่แล้ว
I am back in what I feel is my second home, southern Patagonia. This is just a very short video to share with you my flight out of my favourite place down here, Puerto Williams, on Navarino Island, on the southern shores of the Beagle Channel. You can see how friendly the place is by the pilots of Aérovías DAP - and the amazing views we get on this flight, with Tierra del Fuego (Argentina) on t...
Getting motivated... again

Just a quick little video/vlog of where I'm at... only six months after my big solo 47 km expedition run, I am unmotivated and getting increasingly out of shape again! Time to set some goals! Check out my www.keepitmovingproject.com for some inspiration!

Curious Pine Marten, Vancouver Island, British Columbia
มุมมอง 8513 ปีที่แล้ว
Dave and I were doing a big hike/run up to Della Falls and Love Lake - central Vancouver Island. I wasn't intending to photograph wildlife, and only had my GoPros with me (which are wide-angle, not good for close-ups). We came across this pine marten - a species you very rarely see in the wild! - and I was wishing I had brought my big Nikon. But no worries, the curious little pine marten came r...
#BCCoastalCleanup - MDRI Helicopter lifting
มุมมอง 723 ปีที่แล้ว
This past September, I was very fortunate to Expedition 2 of the Marine Debris Removal Initiative (MDRI). We spent three weeks removing marine debris from the beautiful and wild shorelines of British Columbia's north-central coast. I worked with Maple Leaf Adventures, based on their beautiful catamaran "Cascadia" (normally used for eco-tourism in non-COVID times). For the first two weeks, we go...

I was a part of the Marine Debris Removal Initiative - a six-week, two-phase expedition to clean up the shorelines of British Columbia's north-central coast - which took place in August and September 2020. This drone footage, shot by Jeff Reynolds (Insta: @jkr_photo) shows a bit of what we were doing - that's me in the turquoise! The project was the initiative of BC's small-ship tourism operato...

How to Clean Quinoa
มุมมอง 1573 ปีที่แล้ว
Many people think that quinoa is a tropical plant - but it is actually native to the high Andes, and is easy to grow in gardens in temperate climates. Here is a short video showing how I clean the quinoa I grow in my backyard garden. For more information on how to grow quinoa, check out the accompanying blog post at: the-food-garden.com/2020/10/17/how-to-grow-quinoa-in-your-garden/

Growing Ginger Turmeric and Lemon Grass in pots
มุมมอง 804 ปีที่แล้ว
Herbs and spices that are imported, such as ginger, turmeric, lemon grass, and more, are becoming harder to find in stores, as COVID19 disrupts some of our food supply chains. I am growing these - as well as many others Indian spices - in containers at home. Here is a quick view of my ginger, turmeric and lemon grass, in pots in late summer (Canada) - soon to be taken inside to overwinter. More...
Great blue heron predation by bald eagle (warning, it's not pretty)
มุมมอง 300K4 ปีที่แล้ว
The fannini subspecies of great blue heron lives in coastal British Columbia and is blue-listed (of "special concern") in this province. Two of their main threats are human activities, which disturb or destroy both their nesting habitat and their feeding areas, and predation by bald eagles. This video clip documents a bald eagle attacking a great blue heron nest and killing one of the two chick...

It is an adult eagle. Not considered adults till they have the well known eagle white head & tails. Juveniles are all brown with blackish beaks. After 5 years they are considered adults. FYI. Lol
