You are playing with fire. Real shotguns are proofed with a big overload to make sure they are safe. Just because you can do something, doesn't mean you should.

In my different home trials i have found the extractors to work better and more consistant when the claw is designed/positioned to contact the rim of the shell in its farthest rearward position, aka the point where it fires. This makes it so that you eliminate the chance of it not catching as it slides past, instead the extractor claw engages when the barrel is not in motion, giving much better success rate than one that engages "on the fly". I have also made a design where the barrel has a sliding pivot point that locks into a socket at the front lower edge of the reciever and allows the barrel to pivot forward much like you would see in a break action shotgun. I also employ a simple safety mechanism consisting of a hole thru both walls of the reciever about 1" before the firing pin into which fits a cotter pin, which prevents the loaded barrel from travelling rearward enough to contact the firing pin. Much like activating a hand grenade you simply grab the ring pull the pin out and you are ready to rock and roll. Lets you keep the weapon loaded as you are travelling or in storage and be ready to go in a flash but also protected from stupid accidents like dropping or bumping it against something, both of which can very easily cause a negligent discharge otherwise. Keep it up and keep improving your builds and trying as many new things as possible, thats the only way to discover what works and what doesnt and its how you continually improve on your previous iterations.
