Top 10 Underrated Classic Movies Of 1943!
Hey everyone! Welcome to Classic Cinema! This channel is for classic movie buffs, and for movie lovers who are looking for something more engaging than the current flicks.
Hollywood came of age during World War 2, with moviegoing becoming a unifying ritual for millions of Americans ay home or overseas. I believe that it was the movie industry's finest hour at not only uniting our country during this trying time, but also showing all the folks at home what our boys were going through all around the world.
Some of the best movies that year were "Shadow Of A Doubt", "The Ox-Bow Incident", "For Whom The Bell Tolls", and "The Song Of Bernadette". All great films of course, but we are going to look at what I think are the 10 most underrated films from 1943.
(0:10) Introduction
(1:54) 10. Journey Into Fear

(6:30) 8. The Fallen Sparrow
(9:08) 7. Northern Pursuit

The Importance Of Eyes In Blade Runner Ridley Scott's 1982 film "Blade Runner" is one of the most influential science fiction movies of the 20th century. He created a complex, dystopian world that was both beautiful and frightening. Scott places an emphasis on eyes and perception, making the viewer realize "seeing is believing" doesn't always apply here. Previous videos: 1946: th-cam.com/video/...

My favorite movie from 1939 is "Stanley and Livingstone." Although highly fictionalized, it conveys the impact that one man can have on the life of another. Spencer Tracy gives one is his best performances as Stanley.

It's not a western, this movie is a god damned opera. And it's absolutely brilliant. "They call them millions" also might be one of the greatest lines in history. "You brought two too many." definitely is

The original title in italian is: C'era una volta il west. The american title Once upon a time in the west is not a good translation, the real meaning is : once upon a time there was the west. I think is an important distinction because, as you said, the film main theme is the end of the wild west.

As a Western fan since my early 50s childhood (Shane and High Noon ere benchmarks), I found the approach to this particular "oater" too operatic for my taste. Every shot seemed just that big too long/contrived - a style that the Italians film makers appear to favour for effect. But at least the casting of Henry Fonda was a bit of inspiration as the bad guy - playing against a long established film stardom as a hero.

More like an Italian Opera than a true depiction of the American west. the gunfights were ridiculous given how inaccurate revolvers actually were. Bronson took down 3 men with 3 shots in 2 seconds while shooting from the hip !

Many reviewers consider it to be the #1 Western movie. No matter who is judging it is a great movie. You never forget it.

I've read some where that Sergio Leone said that Once Upon a Time in the West was his favorite spaghetti western and it has one of the best opening scenes. It also has a great musical score done again by Ennio Morricone and many covers of the music can be found on YT searches. I've never seen the movie broadcasted on American TV and I wonder if Paramount, who owned the American broadcast rights, did not like how the movie's villain, played surprisingly by Henry Fonda, had his character Frank approve the shooting of the family including a young child. Paramount and/or Hollywood may have also felt the movie tarnished Fonda's reputation as one of the great good-guy American actors.

I used to think the Clint Eastwood ‘the good, the bad and the ugly’ or ‘for a few dollars more’ were probably the best. But the ‘once upon a time in the west’ has overtaken them. I felt it captured the American spirit better as it portrayed the towns better, while also covering the revenge, bandit and cowboy stuff. The incredible song he used for this film evokes profound feelings in me while following the story - a true masterpiece

"The Stranger" was not the first film to deal with a Holocaust theme. In 1944, Columbia released a B film called "None Shall Escape" which starred Alexander Knox who played a Nazi officer who supervised the murder of Polish Jews as he was herding them into a boxcar. The film is on TH-cam.
