Top 10 Underrated Classic Movies Of 1943!
Hey everyone! Welcome to Classic Cinema! This channel is for classic movie buffs, and for movie lovers who are looking for something more engaging than the current flicks.
Hollywood came of age during World War 2, with moviegoing becoming a unifying ritual for millions of Americans ay home or overseas. I believe that it was the movie industry's finest hour at not only uniting our country during this trying time, but also showing all the folks at home what our boys were going through all around the world.
Some of the best movies that year were "Shadow Of A Doubt", "The Ox-Bow Incident", "For Whom The Bell Tolls", and "The Song Of Bernadette". All great films of course, but we are going to look at what I think are the 10 most underrated films from 1943.
(0:10) Introduction
(1:54) 10. Journey Into Fear
(4:10) 9. Above Suspicion
(6:30) 8. The Fallen Sparrow
(9:08) 7. Northern Pursuit

(14:26) 5. Edge Of Darkness
(16:39) 4. The Constant Nymph

The Importance Of Eyes In Blade Runner Ridley Scott's 1982 film "Blade Runner" is one of the most influential science fiction movies of the 20th century. He created a complex, dystopian world that was both beautiful and frightening. Scott places an emphasis on eyes and perception, making the viewer realize "seeing is believing" doesn't always apply here. Previous videos: 1946: th-cam.com/video/...

Ruined! I was completely ruined by this movie. Ever since watching it as a kid I've had way too high of expectations for actors. Writers that have wayyyyy too much dialog are met with disgust by me now. The opening of this movie is the best I've ever seen.

Being a Sergio Leone film. his collaboration with the great musical composer, Ennio Morricone, has lifted a good western, into a classic. Take away the sublime music, and ONce Upon A Time becomes a drawn out western, possibly on the long side as well, but the music score for the film is truly outstanding. When you the film comes into mind, its the direction and music that makes it a classic.

The beauty of both of Leone's Once Upon a Time movies is the convergence of seemingly disjointed tales converging to amazing finales. Morricone's music ties all the story together in both films. Amazing masterpieces.

Harmonica sums it all up. He too is a man of the past, a noname driven only by his thirst for revenge... but he arrives by train and eliminates the three bandits waiting at the station (depicted as prehistoric savages, one even breaks the telegraph machine). He is ambiguity personified, as he is both an ancient savage and a builder (we even see him starting to build the station). The end is dramatic as he realizes there's no place for him in the modern world, he did his part by improving it a bit, and then he disappears. What we realize at the end is that we dream of the old heroic times, but they are only legends. What we must choose is between living in fantasy, or in the real world with its good and bad sides (and Morton also personifies that ambiguity of the modern world, where we can all pursue our dreams, but what happens when we forget the impact this has on others ?)

"Underrated Classic"? If it's a classic, it's already held in high esteem. NONE of these are "hidden" gems, you didn't somehow discover forgotten films. Your entire premise is flawed and your narration sounds like a first draft. I am sorry to be so blunt, but it appears you just phoned this one in.

Canyon Passage (1946) is one of my favourite Western movies of all time. I absolutely enjoyed this film, I’ve watched this film like a 100 times in my whole life wow just never ever gets boring. If you like beautiful towns or mountain then this film is for you. The Cast All the Actors and Actress are wonderful especially Hoagy Carmichael, Dana Andrews, Susan Hayward, Brian Donlevy, Ward Bond, and Andy Devine are Awesome. This film NEVER EVER gets old I can watch this film every weekend, One thing I LOVED about this film is the soundtrack, Hoagy Carmichael was a wonderful singer I love the Ole Mutter Sky and Silver Saddle song what a fantastic film I’m giving this film 10/10 credit.

In fairness to "The Man in the Iron Mask," have you read the book? It is not what you expect. The Man in the Iron Mask is barely in the book. They try to break him out, they do break him out, and he's recaptured and put back quickly. It's a very small section of the book. I love Dumas. I do not like that book. The rest of the book is pretty much just about how the Three Musketeers die. It's long and drawn out. I can only remember how Porthos dies. Again, Dumas was such a talented writer. That book just sucks. It's mostly Hollywood's fault for spoiling me as a child/teen with their fantasies about how the book should be, focusing a lot on the Man in the Iron Mask. BTW, one of my favorite 1939 movies is "Bachelor Mother." David Niven and Ginger Rogers did an amazing job in that movie.

I was fortunate-enough to see all the Leone films first run in the theaters. GBU was the first, in 1968, and still is the best use of music score in a film. Obviously, GBU and Once Upon a Time in the West had the music scored first, so scenes could be matched to it, just genius. By the way, at least in Phoenix AZ in 1969 (where I was), Once Upon a Time in the West did not play at big theaters at all, and essentially no advertising. Anyway, I've been to the site of the arch in Monument Valley, the dolly tracks of concrete are still there, as are the sides of the arch; yes - I played the music loud while there.

Harmonica could only be played by Charles Bronson. Does anyone remember when the cut version was played, it made no sense at all with one third of the plot cut out. Even with the "restored" version out now, there are scenes missing. The Sheriff ( Keenan Wynn ) suspected Harmonica of the McBain killings, and used enforced interrogation techniques to get a confession out of him. This is why in some scenes Harmonica has a mark on his face, and in other scenes, he doesn't.

I just saw this movie for the first time a few days ago, and wow. I have to agree, its probably the best Western film of all time. Every character was great, even the ones with only one or two scenes. For a long time I thought maybe Shane, the Good the Bad and the Ugly, or even The Outlaw Josey Wales were the greatest, but the mixture of perfect soundtrack, perfect villain, and bittersweet ending sold it to me.
