I just picked up a Zoom Q8 and I wanted to test it out. I'm really impressed with the built-in mics, and how much you can control levels. I've been a huge fan of Spiritbox since they first released music, so I thought it would be fun to record one of their songs. Hope you like it! Please excuse the awkward drum faces. One of my all time favorite drummers, so sick you posted this thank you! Dude your creativeness with fills and transitions is masterful. The technicality that you play with is next level. As a drummer myself I latched onto this band because of the drum chops and killer vocals, he really used his voice as an instrument. When they came out I remember listening to them on effect radio thinking holy smokes these guys are incredible! Ahead of their time, the world needs more S&W! 🤘

Really appreciate your contribution to early Spiritbox, The Mara Effect 1,2,3 studio performance video was a must replay during some rough times. Always felt you filled space appropriately, when given that creative freedom. Hope you’re doing well; I’ll be checking out your other playthroughs and definitely post any new projects as they come!
Thanks so much! I appreciate the kind sentiments. It was a lot of fun to play with everyone in SB and that live studio project was a bucket list item for sure. I just tried to serve the songs as best as I could while adding in my own personality.

Thanks so much! For this I was using a 20" Sabian HHX Complex Crash and a 21" Sabian HHX Groove Ride for crashes. 20" HHX China on the right side!
HECK YES! SAW got a lot of play in Columbus Ohio (RadioU) ages ago along with Shreddy, so its awesome to listen to this track again, but from a totally different time and perspective. Keep up the great work!

Thank you Ben! This was one of the videos I recorded for my “tryout” originally and it was a lot of fun to learn. Always a bit weird transcribing programmed drums but hey, all part of the challenge!

This is his band. So it's his original drum track. You can tell it's his signature fills with 2000s punk rock tempo and blending of all his previous work
Thank you so much! The songs in ITA certainly have they challenging moments, but you're right - not at complex as some of the other projects I've worked on. It's super fun to settle into the song and play a supporting role. Even though it's not as technical, it's satisfying to work on getting everything as tight and clean as possible.

Wow, thanks Benjamin! It’s crazy to think it’s been 15 years since that demo was out. We’re slowly trying to get back to it. And yes, it is absolutely a Hyrulian snare haha. I remember asking Jeremy at Q Drum Co. to make it “look like a buried treasure or relic”. They weren’t really doing custom stuff like that, but he was gracious enough to make that one for me. It is hands down the most used, recorded, borrowed, rented snare I own.

As a drummer I really appreciate your chops brother and you don't get anywhere near the credit you should for your creativity and your taste. There are some great transitions / phrasing and really clever licks that make me smile every time I hear them and just shake my head in laughter. I appreciate the work you've put in and just wanted you to know that I still listen to you regularly down here in Southern California. ;) Keep rockin man.

I’ve been thinking about doing some more playthroughs when I have some more time. And yes, I played with SB for a year and a half, but had to step down since their touring requirements started to pick up and I have a little boy and a wife I need to be around for.
