All the things that Barney told Gomer the car was going to need, would cost more today than it would to buy a brand new car then. Kennedy was President when this episode first aired.
His biggest purchase since buying his parents a septic tank for their anniversary. "They're really hard to buy for"
The post-mortem at 3:25 is one for the ages!
Didn't know Grandma Walton had it in her to be a crook
Whatever it was it fell off and can't hurt you anymore.😂
❤😂🎉
$300 even back then, that's pretty bad
GREAT EPISODE!!!!!!!!!!!
Well that’s what you get when you buy a car that doesn’t even have a dash board.
This was one of the best shows! I about die laughing every time I see it
I love the music 🎶 that plays when we see Mrs. Lesh. I have this episode on dvd. I admit watching it over & over! 😂
they keep saying "Barneys first car" thats wrong, first or second episode, he owned a 1950 or 51 Ford Sedan
Is the lady that played Ma Barker?
Thelma Lou’s reaction to the steering wheel was priceless🤣🤣🤣🤣
Poor Barney, I think we all have a little Barney in us.
Better days they were!
We talk about how bad the economy is now but I find it odd during the prosperous early 1960's that a man in his 30's hasn't yet bought a car.
1:05
oldie and goodie love em all
YOU'RE ON " POINT " 😂
not barneys first car.....he had a car in the first or second episode. he drove miss roesmary to church in it
I smell gas, I smell gas to.... lol They left that out.
Did someone fart?
3:37 "I've been f&%$ed!"
So her maiden name was Lesh before it became Walton.
They did not call him " Big Barn " for his height or weight. 😂 Thelma Lou knows.
Beautiful
“The machine “ an archaic term for car mostly forgotten so cute 😅
ian happ I will miss you
Not his 1st car - Briefly showed his other car in front of the court house
Bearings. I'm out.
Female escaped convicts my favorite
Car for barney. Barney is naughty little boy by fars.
I love Andy's show..
❤ they work so well together Barney is so funny God bless his soul he was wonderful
@Hello there, how are you doing this blessed day?
$300 in the bank. Lot of money back then !
I remember that episode as Barney really got suckered when he thought he had a good car. It turned out to be a lemon! Lol😂
Thanks a lot Don Knott's!! You've made North Carolinians look like a bunch of inbred dumb ass hicks!! We're just a little smarter than you!! Wish you were never on Andy Griffith!! Tim Conway carried you anyway.
So many classic episodes mostly in the Barney years between seasons 2-5. Season 1 the show was still a bit primitive and they were trying to establish the tone and characters. Its hard for me to watch the colorized post Barney Fife episodes it just isn't the same. This was one of those shows where its hard to even put a top 20 or 25 best episodes list together because of how many greats there are.
Driving along and the steering column begins to get closer and closer to your face 🤣
My mom and dad had a Mercury and it was a solid as could be. The only reason my dad sold it was my mom was so tired of trying to steer it and park it. They bought a Rambler!
Grandma Walton on the Andy Griffith show. Well how about that? I've already seen this episode by the way.
How. Bout. That. 🎭
Enjoy watching every episode, even repeats.
@Hello there, how are you doing this blessed day?
I would also be concerned, That the car didn't have a dashboard,,lol,
I learned these things and today used tire dealers and car sales dealerships still use the old black paint and brake fluid to make old damaged tries look new. Beware
I watch these episodes over and over. Buying a car then was a major decision. Nowadays, you can have one delivered.
Boy I had to learn my car buying lessons the hard way. Live and learn!!!!
1:10 Barney reads "1954 Ford sedan" in the ad. My parents once owned a 1954 Ford sedan, according to a legal filing I found in a family file. Hmmm.
❤😂
Andy and Barn shouldn't be using a taxpayer paid vehicle as their own personal car. 😂
One of my favorite episodes, Mrs. Lesh !
