I loved UK skins because unlike the US they weren’t all supermodels. They weren’t all 30 years old in reality. And they weren’t afraid to really delve deep and go there. Euphoria, while beautiful and filled with beautiful people and shots, is nothing like teen hood to me and feels very much about adults playing a sexy teen fantasy.

(Disclaimer coming from an American fan so my teen experiences are likely different). Even though the show was a little over the top and over dramatized, it still felt so relatable even more so than Euphoria. It was such a fun show, but it wasn't afraid to get dark at times to really draw you into the show. Not sure if its a realistic depiction or not, but as a 33 year old American raver, I still want to experience a UK rave, especially because of Skins 😆

S4 is a bit exagerated in terms of pain and narrative choices It has good moments but definetly preferred generation 1 due to this season

Watching it now for the first time. I love the soundtrack, filming in NYC is special and looks awesome, the fashion feels trendy for the time, and lake bell is awesome in this show. I’ve heard it billed as an economically challenged East coast entourage. And I think that is fair in a lot of ways. While I won’t call it complex it doesn’t always give the happy ending for the characters which is something. But for stretches in the first season I thought it was pretty weak tbh

I watched this season at 14 in 2010 when i was off sick from school and it truly altered my brain chemistry.

I lived in NYC during these times and shared the same sentiment as many of these characters so it forever has a place in my heart. It was broken when HBO cancelled it, but it is absolutely never too late to run it back. Salute on a fine job King!! Thank you.

I absolutely hate Pandora in S4 she cheated on Thomas like 10+ times and she gets mad he does it once and confesses? Thomas had to find out her cheating on his own too her character was completely ruined for me that season.

What did anyone think of second generation Skins novel. Set between 3 and 4. Season 4 makes abit more sense. The reason for Katie and Effy being much better with one another in season 4 is answered in it for example.

This was my favorite show. I was hurt when they cancelled it. A reboot would be dope. I hope they bring it back in either a movie or another show in the future.

One of the things this series portrays particularly well (even in a “silly”, over the top comic format) is the dynamic you get in small family run businesses where people who are totally unqualified and temperamentally unsuited to do the job continue to be employed for years, purely because they are family members. This is something so commonplace people don’t even comment on it but it helps explain a lot of the professional incompetence you routinely see in the business world. I think it is particularly apparent in small, struggling firms run by relatively recent immigrants who casually employ their sons and/or daughters in the family business because it’s cheap and convenient, even in cases where the sons/daughters actually hate working there and would much rather be doing something else.

😮Season 4 was two episodes too short, the show being shorter is rushed and terrible. Cook and Katie’s episodes are outstanding but the dragged out unalive girl storyline and the rushed ending leaves a bitter end to an incredible group of characters. I honestly think if they swapped panda with taking the pills and falling off the balcony they could have saved it. Panda gone would have had a huge impact on effy leading to her mental problems, cook dealing with the guilt and gave Thomas more of a reason to have his identity questioned. They could have went a different way with Naomi and Emily. Panda done next to nothing in series 4 so it wouldn’t of been a loss

3:54 - While Skins UK holds up as a gritty teen drama, Skins US was a complete disaster. The issue at hand is the major difference in laws regarding consent. In the UK consent for sex is 16 vs 18 in the US. Alcohol consumption is not legal in the US until 21 vs 17 in the UK. So when Skins US debuts, people lost their minds over seeing high school age kids engaging in casual alcoholism. Much of what is depicted would be legal or at least more socially accepted in the UK. Another example is Chris' affair with his teacher. In the UK this was inappropriate, in the US that was considered statutory rape...

Extremely talented casts in every season. Its always fun when I watch Hollywood films and recognize the characters from Skins...
