I do love this OVA, but I think it makes the Feds a bit TOO MUCH cannon fodder. Gato can seemingly do no wrong, whereas portrayals of other aces such as Char were a lot more nuanced.

It’s kinda wild we never see anything like this again in the UC. You’d think a weapon this powerful would be put into some limited production. In Char’s Counterattack, the Federation uses slow moving conventional missiles in an attempt to stop Axis, and we see how well that works. And while there are of course ethical reasons not to . The Various Neo-Zeon factions don’t really seem to give a damn about ethics.

This is what I miss from modern Gundam, things like this and 08th MS Team, that treat the Gundams like machines. Mechanical design is a dying art in anime, sadly. Has been for the longest time, its seems. Even with the tools to reduce the load, it is still committed entirely, in favour of the visual equivalent of jangling brightly coloured keys every so often.

The real power of the ZGMF-X10A Freedom was making Kira the main protagonist again and turning Shinn and crew into the bad guys XD
