ABBA - When I Kissed The Teacher - Bass Cover
The opening number of ABBA's 1976 album "Arrival", Janne Schaffer's acoustic guitar introduces this song. The bass is played by Rutger Gunnarsson. As the key of this song is E-flat major, I played with a half-step down tuning in this video to be able to play on a four-string bass. Thanks @danielorduna1259 for your request for this song.

ABBA - Eagle (Live at Wembley Arena) - Bass Cover

Lasse Wellander was the guitarist who made significant contributions to ABBA. Tragically, we lost this legendary musician on 7th April 2023. In this song "Eagle" from "Live at Wembley Arena", Lasse's 32 bar guitar solo shines brilliantly. Depth is added by Rutger Gunnarsson's improvised bass line. Let's celebrate Lasse's musical legacy and honour his unforgettable contributions to the ABBA sound.

As Good As New is the first track from ABBA's Voulez-Vous album. Rutger Gunnarsson played bass on this song. The intro and the verse seem to be played with slap & pop. Or it may be two-finger & pop. In this video, I played the intro and the verse with slap & pop.

My Mama Said from the "Waterloo" album released in 1974. This song may not be one of ABBA's most famous songs but it's very cool. Rutger Gunnarsson's basslines are great and Janne Schaffer's guitar solo is also cool.

ABBA - Gonna Sing You My Lovesong - Bass Cover
I've been on it for four hours and can play about a minute of it. The part between 0:52 and 0:56 minutes was particularly difficult for me because I had to play it quite quickly. WOW, I'm learning this just because it sounds wonderful, it's worth learning to play, thank you very much for the fantastic transcription!! Rutgar Gunnarsson was one of the best bass players of his time and unfortunately one of the most unknown.
I was already playing bass back when all these songs were written. But back then there was no material about it, especially no fantastic transcriptions like this! It's crazy that it's over 45 years later that I'm discovering what a force Rudger Gunnarson was! This transcription is addictive, I learned to play it with great joy. Bravo, SonicBlueBass, your work is incredibly good! Thank you so much! I started playing bass in 1977, the same year this song was written.😍
good job man, and thank you for this lesson.. you play it so smoothly, and I kid you not, it helped me understand why I was having a hard time playing this song: I was approaching it too awkwardly. Best regards from BR, stay strong dude.
Gunnarson is a monster, the swedish groovemaster
ABBA rocks and SO DO YOU!!
muy bien ..mister..excelente muy talentoso ..el bajo de abba es un ajoya
Thanks so much for this video! I’ve loved this track since I was little… the album is one of my favourites 😊 Any chance you might have plans to do ‘So Long’ sometime? I can’t find tabs for it anywhere!
Thank you so much for watching. So Long is a nice suggestion! I will check it.
I really enjoy your videos. It gives me an even bigger appreciation for the bass lines in ABBA songs. I have 2 requests, The Name of the Game and I'm a Marionette, both of these the studio version. I've always been amazed by the base line on these songs. Thanks.
Thank you so much for watching and glad that you enjoy my videos. The Name of the Game is in my plan. I'm a Marionette is also a fantastic suggestion but the super fast intro section will be tricky to play! I’ll look into it. Thank you.
Greetings from Lebanon! Merry Christmas! I always practice bass to your tabs. Thank you very much. I would like to have Waterloo and Super Trooper, please. I see a couple of fans ask for Chiquitita.
Thank you for your wonderful message. I’m honored to be part of your musical journey. Let me add these songs to my list. Wishing you joy, peace, and creativity in 2025!

I'm pausing to read the tab,but that gets covered up :( there any version where the tab is at the top?
Do a screen record then screenshot
Thanks for posting such quality basslines as always. I love the effort that you put into making it sound as similar as possible to the original!
Thank you so much!
Hey where can we find your bass tabs for download?
Amazing player thanks
Really great version! Would you be willing to provide a pdf version of the tab please?
Thank you for your comment. I don't provide PDF transcriptions at the moment. But I'm considering ways of sharing my work in the future while respecting the copyright of the original tracks.
🔥🔥🔥
The most accurate transcription I've found so far! Good work.
How good is this
where can i download the tab? do you have patreon?
Thanks for watching. I have not shared tabs. If there is a way to share them while respecting copyright, I might be able to do it but I haven't got there so far.
I’ve loved this song but I’ve never imagined that it’s such a difficult bass line. The bass line changes subtly even during repetition!
Yeah, Rutger Gunnarsson never played the same phrase twice.
S.O.S. 의 베이스 듣고, 실제로 Bass 구매해서 연습 중입니다. 너무 좋아요 ! FIFTYFIFTY
Congratualtions on your new bass!
I think I might manage On and on and on… if I practice really hard! Great job!
Thanks a lot for watching!
Thank you very much for this tutorial
Thank you for watching
After 3 weeks I finally learned this
Briliant!!
Finally started learning this one, and omg, what an amazing bassline!!!
Great to hear @bussy6884, that you are practicing this!
Шедевра !! и АББА и исполнение !! ))
great!
Real shit
Thanks! Merci! Спасибо , что поделились нотами! Будем играть!🤝
Do you have any idea what kind of effects they were using for this one? It almost sounds like its played with a pick but i dont know for sure
I assume you're asking about the sound in the intro, and that's done by a synth overdubbed onto the electric bass. This technique is also used in other songs like Take a Chance on Me, Gimme! Gimme!, etc.
OMG. You have made my day. I long for the time that I can play this. At this stage I can barely keep up by simply watching what you are doing. Well played my friend.
Thanks a lot @patpalumbo4561. So glad you enjoyed it. Keep it up at your own pace, cheers.
Apart from that one respite thats a relentless bass line….. superbly played.
Thanks for watching, @BassPlayerAvailable. Yes, it's tough to keep up the pace!
🙏🏻 Thx I loved 🥰 You’re awesome 👏
Thank you very much @takozgmd596!

Yes @lucpraslan I love the Spanish version too!
i've been loving seeing all the bass covers for abba here. it really helps to parse from the rest of the song, and shows just how dang groovy the bass is for their music :D
Thank you @knoginator for watching
thx for posting this. one of my favorite songs from abba because of the bass
Thank you @niveKOnBass for watching
Loooove the part at 2:44 🪩💃🕺🪩🕺💃🪩🕺💃This song is amazing, your playing is amazing, ABBA is amazing 🤩
Thank you @bussy6884!
Espetacular!
Would really like to hear you cover "The Name of the Game" by ABBA :D The bassline is reaaal nice :D
Nice suggestion @bussy6884! Let me add it to my list.
Great cover 👍
Simply amazing.
This is a superb workout for sight reading on the bass. Abba had some of the best bass lines. Such a pleasure to be able to actually play along with the written score. It's like being in the pit playing with the band.
Imagine this but slap tho......
Smashed it. :D
