ELLIOT SANDER is a Moorhead MN based Pianist and organist previously serving as organist-in-residence and handbell choir director at First Lutheran Church in Tacoma, Washington. He is an active member of the Red River Chapter American Guild of Organists. He also belongs to the Red River Theater Organ Society.
A recipient of many prestigious honors, including playing in the Washington Music Educators Association All State Jazz Band, he has also played for many special recitals and events including events for the Yakima Valley Music Educators Association, and Silent Movie Night for the Red River Theatre Organ Society in Fargo, ND.
A native of Ellensburg, Washington, he grew up playing organ and piano at a number of churches including Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Tacoma WA (Music Director) First Christian Church of Ellensburg, WA, Zion-Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Odessa, WA, and St. Timothy Lutheran Church in Edmonds, WA, Good Hope Lutheran Church in Ellensburg, WA.

My dad was raised in the Church Of God, Anderson, and these are some hymns I remember singing as a kid. The audio was recorded from a Zoom handheld microphone placed in the nave of the church.

I remember when I heard this at my grandparent's Lutheran church growing up.... there was a set of Mass Rowe chimes connected to a little keyboard by the organ, and the organist would play the "amen" at the end of the service. This is played on an Allen ADC organ

Excellent and inspirational. This organ has beautiful sound.
I'm on higher ground by listening to good organ music. It puts me on a higher plane. These were also sung in Baptist churches. My grandparents were charter members of the Baptist church (1947) in our small village 20 miles south of Washington DC. Unfortunately they divorced and grandfather affiliated with a Church of God some distance away, while grandmother stayed with the Baptist church. She took me regularly, as my mother worked so much. That church had an electronic organ played by the pastor's wife. I fell in love with the sound of the organ and listened to my grandmother sing these and other hymns, standing on her right side. We lived on a small farm, inherited by grandfather and his sisters. As grandparents children married, each was given land upon which to build a house and grandfather built himself a new house all located across the field on a dirt road. Thirteen grandchildren enjoyed the open fields and woods as well as the clear stream flowing through the middle of the property. The old farm house on the road frontage no longer stands. On that site was built a Church of God, the land donated to them by grandfather and they are still active, with a second church beside the COG for a Spanish COG. The organ you played has good sound. However, the recording was over modulated (record volume set too high). It lacked a little clarity compared to other recordings you have done. Thanks for the higher ground lift.
