These kinds of scratches are called “Swirl Marks” yes buffing incorrectly can cause swirl marks but that isnt the only cause. Swirl marks are thousands of tiny scratches that accumulate over time in every which direction. They can be caused by any type of abrasion to the paint surface. If you go to a car wash that has those pads or brushes that touch your car they are 100% causing these tiny swirl marks to appear. All those types of car washes do is smear the dirt around on the surface of the paint. The only way to avoid swirl marks is by touch-less washing with foamy soap and washing that dirt away before ever touching the paint with any towel or wash shammy.

Sponges should should be cleaned from all contaminants. The problem with regular car washes they ain't cleaned at all. And the way the rags slap against the paint at an ungodly speed with other cars road grimes. If you go to a site where people are using sponges and drying towels you will have the same problem. You now to get a clay bar kit go over every panel and then DA polish the rest.

Mainly buffing. Car washes give more straight scratches not circular paterns

​​@@th3s3rv37Car washes use neoprene closed cell foam and are constantly sprayed with high pressure water to keep grime off. Hand washing can be even more dangerous when washing with a stud bucket which gets dirtier as you progress. When using a wash mitt, the dirt is picked up but then rubbed against the clear coat creating scratches. Even when towel drying a car.

@@akalchickering8165 none of what you wrote is any different to what I said. And regardless of of what the car washes are made of they are still bad and still scratch paintwork. It's almost like you are trying to correct me and educate me by telling me what I just said 😅

@MobileDetailing Lol, nope. He owned 4 dealerships and ended up losing 3 of them. He also got caught selling peoples vehicles that he didn't even own. He still has the dealership in the town he lives in and keeps just 1 car out front listed as "for sale," just so he can drive with tax-exempt dealer plates. He's a real piece of crap, i don't know how he hasn't been nailed by the feds yet.
