Improving Electric Motor Power Density - Transense Technologies
Transense Technologies plc has worked with the experts at Drive System Design to create a new technology that enables higher power-density electric motor drive systems.
Using Drive System Design’s unique simulation and development expertise, and Transense’s novel torque sensor technology (SAWsense), the key has been discovered to improve the results of Direct Torque Control (DTC), by overcoming the issues of torque ripple error and the interdependency of the observers by replacing them with an actual measured torque.
This video explains how this new technology works and shows the results you can expect when implementing it within your projects.

    Bro could please tell me one new researche with using SAW technology.

    • @transense
      @transense ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the question, I’m not sure a completely understand though, sorry? SAW technology allows torque, force and temperature on rotating or moving components to be measured not possible with other sensing technologies. Usually this is due one or more: > Small packaging volume needed to fit SAW on the moving part > Ability to measure stiffer components > Increased resistance to operating temperatures and harsh environments Plus some other factors. SAW, in some applications, gives better sensing performance than conventional sensors: > No torsion shaft needed so reduced system mechanical hysterisis, reduced torsional instability and improved sensor response > Higher-speed measurement Does that answer your question?

    Great overview! How would the wireless torque sensor of Forcebit fit in?

    • @transense
      @transense ปีที่แล้ว

      There is not a huge amount of information on the Forcebit website, but it appears that their torque sensor is using 2 accelerometer sensors mounted on a shaft, this will rely on relative differential torsional acceleration between the 2 elements and then locally powered telemetry inside the sensor unit, similar principle to the displacement sensors in the video. Whilst this will be useful in test and measurement applications it is very different from the Transense SAW measurement principle which directly measures the surface strain of the shaft using only passive components on the shaft i.e. no battery power is needed, meaning this is well suited to integration into production systems as it is a “fit and forget” solution. The Transense technology can also measure a static torque so it does not require the shaft to be rotating. The downside of the Transense technology in comparison is that it requires the shaft to be designed specifically and adapted to be installed with the AQP sensing elements and control the strain field. In summary, the Transense solution is very accurate, durable, and reliable so it is more suited to a permanent application but has a relatively high cost to apply. The Forcebit system looks like a quick solution that will get a measurement quickly but wouldn’t be something you could design into a production system due to the need for on-shaft electronics.

    Hi, I think your technology is great and the video is too! But how does it differ from other manufacturers? I see there are a multitude of SAW Device patent holders and SAW Device producers. Can you pinpoint where your technology is superior to those of other manufacturers?

    • @transense
      @transense ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi thanks for the question, Transense has patents relating to the design of SAW devices themselves particularly the AQP which is a robust SAW sensing element, the interrogation electronics and application patents in their use particularly in the measurement of forces and torque. Other manufacturers have SAW sensors to measure temperature, but our sensing elements are more industrialised, the design of the AQP makes it relatively easy to build the sensing element into a part compared to a simple SAW resonator that has no protection. We also have a dedicated ASIC to read the signals from the AQP's making the design and setup of a SAW based sensing system much easier than previously possible. We are glad you enjoyed the video!

      transverse saw technology has zero NM setting issues due to values drifting g , you need to give enough time before each operation

    • @transense
      @transense 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@khani-marwat8835 Thank you for your comment; Transense does not use Transverse SAW technology, transverse SAW has displacements in the plane normal to the propagation direction and often just in the surface plane (shear-horizontal waves). We use the Rayleigh type of SAW that mostly has normal to the surface and longitudinal displacement components. In terms of zero drift the design of our SAW sensing elements and the adhesives used for bonding allow us to keep the creep which would result in zero drift to a very low level, in a correctly designed system this would not usually cause any issues with high-speed transient torque measurement.
