When are you going get a windshield replaced ?😊
@@chriskidwell7518 I’m gonna try and make one out of polycarbonate here soon
So glad to see another Studebaker restored to driving condition. This one has a lot of potential. Looking forward to more great video as you overcome challenges ahead. Happy New Year!
Got a new sub! Dig the car and vibe of the channel. Can’t agree more about the frame swap nonsense. Drive them like they were designed, almost a trip back in time in my mind.
Good on you for getting the old girl back up and going. I've always thought those cars were ugly but that's just my opinion. Ugly or not they deserve to be saved. Their design was incredibly unique and cutting edge for the time. That old flat head sure sounds good btw. Hope to see you bring it back fully to it's former glory. I'll be watching.
Have an old ‘50 bullet nose stude 4 door we pulled outta the weeds years ago. Haven’t tried starting it yet, but have been keeping the engine free With marvel and rotating it every once in a while. I’ll get to it once I get my 67 coronet back on the road
Boy, if you could get that manifold hooked up that little engine would sound great.
Thats just amazing. Great job. Cant wait to see it go down the road
Yea it sounds great on your old stud I've got one myself it's a plymouth it's a40
where did you get the gaskets also have one
@@RichardPratt-q7e got it off EBay
where did you get the carb adaptor and what carb are you running?
@@mitchacker both from eBay cars is off a 80s model dodge slant six $80 carb off eBay
Anthony, Studebaker International is a good source for new parts for your car. Contact them on line or by phone and they will send you a free parts catalogue. Also, there are salvage yards across the country that specialize in nothing but good usable Studebaker parts.
I'm really loving your videos. I especially like how you explain what you're doing so that dummies like myself can follow along. how I wish that I was younger and had the ability to do this. That will never be, so I'll just watch you instead. Thank you.
Man triumphs over machine once again!
Sweet! Have you thought about what frame will fit under it?
That little flathead sounds very sweet, not a miss or anything in it.
Merry Christmas! You did a good job getting this Studebaker running again. Looking forward to seeing what is in store for this car. Glad the trans and clutch are in good condition. Will there be a front windshield available? Good luck.
Nice work! You obviously enjoy what you do and you’re good at it. What are your plans for the windshield?
Good job
Great job!! Sounds excellent!
Studebaker quality enough said
I'm excited about that one I would love to see that one restored but I don't know where you would ever get window glass?
There are Studebaker specialty shops and suppliers around the country where you can get pretty much anything you need for these old Studes. I've restored a 51 Champion myself and had no trouble finding parts. Studebaker International is a good place to start.
Awesome!!!
Sounds awesome!
Nice! Real real nice. Happy Holidays.
Merry Christmas
Needs actual gas, to be poured into the carb, I'd suggest getting a fuel treated cup, and pour gas as its trying to get started....like a siphoning system on its own from the fuel cup
Back in younger years we used a 8 volt battery
I'm really enjoying your videos. You sound like a regular guy trying to fix an old car. It reminds me of my dad trying to repair one of his old clunkers with baling wire and tape, without the swear words. I like that you don't feel a need to put on a performance, but instead just act normal as though you were talking to an old pal. keep up the good work.
👍👍
That brake drum might have asbestos in it. The old school brake shoes had asbestos pads. Be careful
New subscriber here.
That mason jar is definitely the windshield washer fluid. You are also lucky that all of the glass except the back glasses, that is broken is flat laminated glass and can be easily remade by any qualified glass fabricator. Especially if the center bar for windshield is still there.
When you are pulling out old spark plugs or bolts and nuts and they are stiff like that once you get it to start to turn, run it back in and then out, in, out, etc as you try to get it out do it in stages so you don't break them off and create more work for yourself.
I have always liked the looks of the Studebaker Starlight Coupes but prefer the bullet nose of the 50-51 over the 48-49.
Cool Ride...Subbed!

Hmmmm. Working outside. Car on the ground. Good luck with that, you’ve got a lotta work to do!
you paid money for that?
I'm seeing it painted flat black with some baby moon hub caps.
Apparently you don't like gloves
@@RickeyToney-s5n yeah not a glove guy I’m not scared to get my hands dirty and cut up
He don't need no stinkin' gloves :)
Thanks for sharing the journey. I sure as hell hope your tetanus shots are current and you can score a Sawzall to carve out all the rust before adding in new metal. Press on, brother!!
She’s awesome put a v8 in it please.
Looks like the frame-rail are eaten away near the spring-hangers. Good luck with that.

I still haven't figured out the tail lights. Those typically were on the Commanders. The Champions didn't have the vertical bars. Search "Rock River Valley Chapter of the Studebaker Drivers Club" for a list of options for these cars. You'll see some of these things listed on your car. Tail lights were not an option listed. It could be someone swapped these out sometime in the past. I'm enjoying this series. Makes me want to get on my 48.
You have your work cut out for you on this project. Thanks for saving an old Studebaker from the crusher. So much metal is gone it will be a challenge but you seem up to the task. Good luck!
thats a big job!
Agree.
@2:30 those wires look loose the the connectors. Did you put any gas in it? Seems to me you are using too much starting fluid.
We all need to subscribe to help these guys get this automotive TH-cam channel going.
