Gas Fireplace Remote Doesn't Work? Try This FIRST! #gasfireplace
Many gas fireplaces have remote controls. Most people are aware of the batteries in the remote control handset, but often we have customers that were not aware they also had a receiver that has batteries. Remote receivers typically have batteries and they can usually be found either next to your gas logs, or if you have a sealed fireplace, they can be found in the service compartment under the firebox.

One of the most common questions we get asked is, "How do I light my pilot?" If you have a Standing Pilot (or Millivolt System), the steps are usually pretty simple: 1) Turn the pilot knob to "Pilot" and press it in all the way 2) Press your ignitor button until the pilot lights (sometimes this can take several presses) 3) Continue holding the pilot knob in for about 15-30 seconds and slowly re...

Smell Gas? How To SAFELY Check For A SMALL Gas Leak #gas #gassafety

Think you smell gas? SAFETY FIRST! Natural Gas (NG) and Propane (LPG) have a special additive in them with a very distinctive smell (sulfur/"rotten egg"). This lets people know when there's a gas leak. If the odor is strong or you believe it may be dangerous, LEAVE THE STRUCTURE and DO NOT turn on any lights or touch any electronics on your way out. Leave the door open, but don't spend any extr...

Gas logs should be serviced on a regular basis, usually about once a year. One of the most common calls we get from homeowners about their gas logs is that they're covered in soot. Soot accumulation is normal on vented gas logs but it can be easily cleaned off with special fireplace chemical sprays. Always read the labels, follow the instructions, and make sure it's for fireplaces! Disclaimer -...

    Thanks! The one you have seems similar to the one i have. However, I couldn’t find the shutoff valve in this little space. I did a lot of research and it seems like it can be next to the fireplace or in the basement(correct me if I understand it wrong). So I went down find the pipe and a valve that seems right. The weird thing is that the valve in the basement is on the whole time, but I still can’t turn on the fireplace. I can see the spark when I try to turn on the pilot, but it doesn’t stay on, which I assume is the gas is not flowing in. Should I take off the whole screen on the fireplace to check if there is any other valve is hiding? Or the valve in the basement is not the right one? Or there might be another issue. Looking forward to your reply, it would be sooo helpful!! If you could take a video to show more about the valve part that could be very cool too. Thank you so much.

      Hard to check a lot of fittings that way and it almost never finds microleaks.

  • @Romuls753
    @Romuls753 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Shut off the gas, undo the fitting, add some pipe tape and maybe some pipe dope, reinstall, turn on the gas, check again with soapy water. That's the proper procedure for a gas or water leak

      @AcmeStove 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If tightening it doesn't stop the leak, then yes, you'd need to uninstall and reinstall the fitting properly. If it's not leaking anymore, then it's not leaking anymore.

      It stays plenty cool enough in the service compartment. Lots of testing done on these fireplaces. It's not an issue at all.
