answering reddit question Jimmy from love on the spectrum
Thanks for sharing this video Jimmy! I loved your story on the tv show with your wife. I think there are so many great things about people on the spectrum that many don't realize at first, and sometimes people are hesitant to open up and be vulnerable.. so you sharing your story is very kind. I am sure you have helped many people via youtube. I subscribed and will watch your other vids! Cheers!
You are amazing and thank you for helping us
Cool
Hey you guys! I loved you on the show and want to crongratulate you on getting married!❤️ I don't know if this helps at all, but Jimmy I thought you came across very charming and sweet and I thought your comments / behaviours were actually very realatable. So don't worry yourself about coming across rude at all! Putting yourself out there like this is hard and very commandable. Greetings all the way from Switzerland!
We loved watching you on the show 🎉
You two are a beautiful couple. ❤❤
My husband was diagnosed at the age of 42. It’s difficult because he really struggled in high school and never knew why. Now it makes a lot more sense, but it’s still hard that it took so long.
Love you guys together. Thanks so much for sharing ❤
1:50 “BUT-“ *pffft* 😂😂😂
I really relate to where you mentioned having an agreement between each other to correct Sharnae and help her improve. My husband and I have similar agreements that people assume are on the basis of sexism, gender roles, or control and it’s really frustrating because that’s not the case. He helps me be the best version of myself and I help him. Lots of love from TX, USA!!
As far as I know, I’m not on the spectrum. But I’ve learned a great deal about this show and it’s people after making friends that were diagnosed. Seeing their truths and how open they are about it, and realizing how beautiful 🤩 their relationship is. Soul mates. Such a phenomenal concept but a reality when watching these too. They are just best friends and in love. 😍 Just so beautiful to see 🥲 Thank you for being you!!! Love you guys!!!! ☺️😊
I loved your wedding . I cried because my beautiful son is on the spectrum too . I hope the same to him .
Oh God I just watched your wedding today! It's the BEST think on TV!
Love you guys ❤❤🎉
I love dancing. I want to go to the Celtic festival and dancing like I’m a woodland fairy
Sharnae, you don’t love Star Wars, that is very confusing to me.
Different
Overhearing conversations, mobiles beeping, things breaking, children screaming, dogs barking. I wear noise cancelling air pods but people want to talk to me because they can see them there. So I’ll the over ear comfort ones - can I put Minnie ears on the top? I love the peaceful sounds of nature, the breeze rustling the leaves, lizards moving along the corner, water cascading over rocks, the sound a campfire makes, any sound my dog makes
I need your help please, I don’t know how to contact you. Jimmy, I’m 51 years old and I’m scared.
Try Instagram I will see what I can

I really hope to see more of you and really hope you both are able to keep helping others

I love you and your wife as a couple. you can tell its true love❤
I'm watching the show now and just finished the navy socks scene and teared up a little. She's so understanding and caring, etc etc. 🥲
Did accidentally get a spoiler about a wedding from the TH-cam auto complete so not happy to have it spoiled but so happy for you guys! Can't wait to see it on the show.
10:43 Really?
You guys are Amazing Grace!
I just LOVE you two!
You two are the best 🤩 Do you know about MBTI? I think Sharnae is an ENTP and Jimmy an INTJ. Hello from Boston! Wishing you two the best in all your endeavors 🐕
I absolutely love y’all as a couple
What is your pool skill level? You look very good at it!
I was never diagnosed as being on the spectrum, but I definitely understand the torture of sensory overload. Just think how different you feel when sitting on a hilltop out in nature listening to gentle breezes & rustling of trees, as opposed to driving in Times Square with massive noise & advertising everywhere. I actually take labels off my pantry items because too many words give me anxiety. I don't know how I ever survived all the years I worked as a dealer in a Vegas casino. Every night I'd go home & soak underwater in the bathtub (using a straw to breathe) for hours - to reset my nerves. It's great that you have this channel to help folks understand such things.
What a beautiful thing to share. "You can't just go around looking for a carbon copy of yourself because then there's no room to grow." I love how open and genuine you are. Thank you both for this message.
My partner has had a similar experience. Diagnosed at 30. He's 32 now so still trying to figure out everything. America has pretty terrible resources and support systems for autistic people, and especially autistic adults, and a lot of our healthcare professionals still don't know what autism is. Before his diagnosis he received schizophrenia and bi polar diagnoses and even been put on medications to treat those which caused him to go into a psychosis that took months to recover from. Thank you for sharing more of your story! I've shared this video with my partner as well.
oh my word 🎉thank you so much for sharing with us. Everyone wanted to see an update of your lives. so awesome. thank you
I love this video in particular. I struggle with sensory because I have anxiety disorder. My son has a hygiene problem because of sensory (and being a boy I think), so this video is a big help to me
oh my word I'm such a big fan from South Africa 🎉. You have such a beautiful story. thank you so much for sharing with us
Would totally love to see y'all live stream again!
Well done!
Hey Jimmy, I'm sorry that happened to you in a public setting. I'm sure that caused a lot of anxiety. One thing that my partner found vastly improved his ability to keep up with hygiene was changing products to sensitive versions and versions without or very little smells. Most hygiene products are overkill on the chemicals included, like SLS and toothpaste. SLS is a great kitchen cleaner but causes severe irritation in sensitive individuals, and only serves to create foam, which is unnecessary in toothpaste. Sensodyne in the US has great versions without this ingredient and does not foam. Another thing to try could be very soft bristle toothbrushes, which are better for cleaning and your gums anyway. For deodorant, try to find something that doesn't contain the word "fragrance" in the ingredient list and instead lists out actual things like, rosemary oil, orange oil/extract, etc. These will not contain phthalates (make scents stick and are very bad for your body/skin) or overpowering scents. Arm & Hammer in the US makes one version like this and it's the only one either of us can use. Overall, it goes along the lines of what you mentioned in your video regarding sensory issues. Try to find things that are less irritating and make doing the thing easier on you. That will make you more likely to do it consistently in helping to establish a routine.
You may try Sensodyne ProNamel toothpaste. It doesn't contain ingredients that make it super foamy and it won't cause gum irritation. My boyfriend is autistic and it's the only toothpaste he can use without constantly having to spit it out.
