INFP Depression
While others love to go out and party, you love to go inwards. My name is Erik Thor and I've been a dreamer all my life. In this channel, we talk about the inner world of dreams, journalling, self-discovery, and creativity. So release your inner Amelie from Montmarte and let's sit down and introspect together.
Maybe you've been feeling it. The call to minimalism, to size down, to live a more easy, and comfortable life, away from the busy noise of the bustling city, away from the high demands and stress of ambition and work. Perhaps you're looking for something deeper and more meaningful.
Being a dreamer isn't always easy. It can often feel like you're pressured by the world to be somebody else than who you are. To be more practical, to be more successful, to work harder, and to be more ambitious. But that's not for you. You'd love to dedicate the rest of your life to your creative pursuits. If you need help with that, I'm here.

Some comments here are 100% accurate about my whole life and how i feel, wtf. As a male infp i also always felt abnormal etc. When I was young i remember a girl, that had a crush in me, saying that im different and special compared to all the other boys. I took it almost as an insult back then, because at that time i just wanted to be a normal cool guy. Im 28 now and had 6 relationsships already, none of these lasted longer than half a year. A lot of girls find me attractive, interesting or mysterious and are intrigued in the beginning but after a while they always lose interested, say that we better are friends or say that they just dont understand me. Being a male INFP feels a bit like being an Alien to be honest :P

I am an INFP-t I have had depression most of my life, I am 58. The only thing that has helped me is 'Mindfulness meditation'. It gets me out of my head for a little and makes all the difference as far as depression is concerned. I also have anxiety which for almost ten years has prevented me from getting in a car, getting on a bus or a train. In the last month I have got on a bus twice and got in a car for a 30 min journey because of mindfulness meditation, I would recommend it if you are like me and have chronic depression.

oh yes.. I just turned 31 and finally decided to live my life constantly reminding myself these words - radical responsibility, courage, openness, trust in the flow of the universe 🙏 also that failing equals learning not the end of the world. I think the combination of idealism, perfectionalism with oneself, fear of conflict and not wanting to be forcefully tied down in something is very tricky but also what an INFP really has to address in themselves in order to feel fulfilled

Welcome back Eric! Every year I take one week for myself to move to a hut in the mountains/forest and just be alone while hiking and thinking - the rest of the year I'm there for my family (we still do holidays together, separate to this one week)! It may sound selfish to some non-INFPs - but this keeps me going in the busy society... BTW, the movie "Into the Wild" is a great study of the INFP getting out of the sociaty and moving to the bus in the middle of nowhere... Love this movie!

As an INFP who has a child with an ENFJ I can say it’s not good romantically, but as friends it’s great. We have the best conversations. It’s usually him complaining about his job (same complaints for years now btw) and me telling him to stop staying in the same cycle. People say INFP’s don’t listen. I’d challenge that after having known my ENFJ for 30 years. It’s funny too because the solution seems so obvious to me that I can’t understand why someone like him hasn’t already figured it out and taken action on it. Weird.

  • @taketheredpill1452

I'm surprised anyone would be confused on this. N\S is the biggest distinction there is. Ns are big picture thinkers. They like ideas and want to talk about things that are abstract and don't exist in the real world. They see patterns that make others uncomfortable or laugh (in their willful ignorance). They are NOT accepted by the majority and don't like most people, if they're honest with themselves. We live in a broken world, largely aided by the morbidly blind sensates that surround us. If you're an Intuitive, you understand this and despise most people and prefer to be alone, because of this...

(Big text bacause I'm enthusiastic about this and bad writing cause it's not my first language ) For me as an Infp i always know how things feels like, how danger and pain feels like and as a human i need to take care of myself but i also have this desire that when I'm feeling healthy enough so i can help others who need it (when they recognize they need it of course) I don't like the idea of: I'll let people do whatever they think is right, because that way insensitive humans would have that permission to cause harm to other people and destroy God's creation for fun just like evil acts like because we have to remember that humans have this sinful nature while Jesus doesn't come back for second time. Also, that thing to put yourself to serve others is definitely ok as a moral principle, but it shouldn't be everything and only. Jesus didn't feel our imperfect feelings because he was and is still perfect without any sinful nature, so he couldn't be that example of taking care of his own feelings or needing other people's help to deal with his internal problems, instead we can read about Jesus praying always to his Father whenever he had something internally important to communicate and ask for. As sinful nature humans, we need to solve personal problems, including spiritual ones just like the other people we want to offer help and life quality as much as we can. We're in this suffering cycle much more than Jesus because sin is inside of us. I don't think infjs are perfect. Of course not. Only the fact they can't use the 4 functions left already means they lack a lot, just like all personalities do. Jesus as a perfect God probably uses all the cognitive functions possible. But he knows the right time and occasion to use them. You're right, if Jesus were INFP the focus of salvation wouldn't be focused ( even though if it's included ) on service, but self recognition, which would probably lead everyone to understand themselves so they could understand so much more accurately others and then truly solving each other problems through service and honest connection to God, which would lead everyone to understand so much deeper about core values and the truth about what and why sin is definitely a bad thing and love is the best thing ever, so we could be truly and purely connected to the meaning of everything having always with no exception the motivation to move on believing and trusting on our God's cause for EVER. Unfortunatly we infps have this understanding of how deep our FI is, but most people don't, God only planned to give to everyone what he knew everybody could understand the best way and also what perfectly represents Him. I'm sure the perfect Jesus infp version we'll be able to meet in heaven where he will be able to show us everything he is, not only what we know about who he was here on earth
