Land Rover Series 3 Restoration Part 17 - Electricals
Enable captions for comments in the video.
Some wiring and their related electric components gets looked at now.
New modern upgrades is introduced for the old Rover, that should help ease of use, and some for safely precautions.
Not complete wiring guide or anything near it, then the video would be hours long :)
Shoutout to @conrad1468 for providing a helpful wiring diagram, and inspiration for wiring.

Land Rover Series 3 Restoration Part 16 - Custom dashboard ?
มุมมอง 1.6K2 หลายเดือนก่อน
Enable captions for comments in the video. Yes I'm making a custom dashboard. The plan was never to keep it as original as possible, as that is already to late. Blasphemy!? The old dash was rusty, damaged and it would be missing some items I would like, so have been experimenting for some time now, how to make a new. I don't got the whole process covered, but here I do an overhaul on the instru...

This the original v6? Cool license plate find. Do you still use it?
@@shookbrii yes its the original. And yes but not quite as often as i would like. Been busy with other projects but hopefully next year I start doing some more underwater videos.
Excellent ! Many thanks
About 1500 series land rovers built in south africa had the ade 4. 236 engine same with some land cruisers that were built in south africa. My dads got a ade 4.236 in his 110 defender
I bet some serial killer is sweating bullets right now watching the license plate he ditched turn up on some random youtube video LOL
Great👍👍👍
New subscribed from Africa
Awesome job!! Love it!! It is great to see a different take on the items I used. All the wiring looks superb!!! You have a horn and 4 ways you are already way further ahead than me. Ha ha!! The diesel stop solenoid is an excellent idea. Again, great job! Thank you for the shoutout! 😊
Can you add a metal detector to your system ?
How do you know you have the door pillar on straight?
It pretty much lined up with the rest of the bulkhead, from where I took the bad one off (See the curves). I did have some measurement how far from eachother each pillar needed to be.
08:35 - How many flasher units did you break before doing this right ;-)
@@PaulMcGuinness hehe, one died on me. I bought a few spares after that.
@@CMFotoPeak I thought so 😂 I did exactly the same (and have 2 spares ready for when I re-wire the 109 I'm working on!)
@@PaulMcGuinness @cmfotopeak I use a heavy Duty 550 flasher relay with 3 prongs. They are made for 12.8 amps or 2 to 6 bulbs.
@@conrad1468 Bet they still go pop when you connect L and X the wrong way round 😂
@ well…. That’s true. Ha ha!! We’ve all done that. 😀
Good job ! Bravo pour ces améliorations !
At 07:15, is that a junction box on the underside of the vehicle?? Would it not be too susceptible to moisture if so??
Yes its on the underside. Its sealed, but not waterproof. So hopefully not much moisture get in, and Im not planning on crossing any rivers in this :)
Electricals rather than Electronics
@@EstoSeabe-q3s you're right. Thanks :)
I'm working on an army defender as well and I see you sanded down the paint but also used paint stripper. What stripper did you use and how did it perform on the paint and underlying coats?
@@Balasubbarayan it had varies layers of paint. The original paint and primer was tough. I tried sanding, but it took forever. Then I use some cheap paint stripper from local hardware store, brand: Droppen ( danish or swedish brand I think) Was way faster. Smear on thick layer or it won't work, then scrape it off after 5 mins. Repeat til you're all the way down to metal. Sand the rest off. Be carefull with the scraper. It could end of scrapibg into the metal, leaving lines.
so many of these links for these rc subs are broken i wonder what's going on? 🤔
oh darn, thanks for noticing. Looks like it's no longer avaliable as a newer version is out. The V-Evo
I thought I seen a riffle in your video at 4mins 27 seconds into the video???
That would be pretty wild find here. Although I do see what you mean, but I do think it's just a stick. When controlling the drone you're using your phone screen as the monitor, usually with sunlight hitting the screen, so easy to miss stuff :(
Hello good job ! Ou tu as trouvé les lunettes verres et joints ? Merci
Emberton Imperial got a lot of special items such as those. :)
Merci
Hey what’s the plastic you used on the pivot point in the levers on the trans???
Is it around 10:05 you mean ? I believe its part no# RTC7197 but i just made it from a plastic bottle as stated in the captions :)
@@CMFotoPeak Thats the one...hmm I had captions on but I didn't see a caption. Anyway Genius! I will be using that trick for sure! Great videos I enjoy the quiet of them! keep them coming! Its all motivation to keep going on my 61 S2 88"!
Hi, What are the dimensions of the ramp? and the degrees of inclination?
Drones are going to be so helpful in the future, its crazy how far they've come.
Is this video shot with a drone camera? or is it an additional camera attached?
Thats all with the drones camera.
5:09 you missed a heart pendant on the floor near the round thing you were trying to pick up
I usually find a few dead bodies, guns, fishing rods and reels, per trip.
What's with all the flatware I wonder ? I found a spot below a big hotel where they dumped garbage in the river, tons of sterling flatware with the hotel name on them. Guess some got mixed in with the large amounts of garbage (200+ room rich guy hotel from long ago, burned out decades ago) Am thinking of getting one of these and just hitting rich guy boat docks, one Rolex will pay for the drone !

@@medievalpilgrim Thanks. I may make it easier than it looks. Lots of time and frustration happens off camera :D but it will be worth it !
@@CMFotoPeak Im trying do the same :) One big video how i turn it from the scrap to the final look so i know what pain is that. Keep it up i cant wait for part 2 !
Nice vlog👍👍👍
How do you charge ur underwater drone?
There is a charger you can just plug into the same port the tethered cable also plug into.
A quarry is way more horrific than this some are pitch black below 💯
Did you drill out the floor pan to remove as well?
Yes, but was not easy to remove, it's all spot welded, that's why I ended up just cutting most of it away in the end. :)
❤❤❤❤❤
Great vid enjoyed that and the fish looke like ide
What for underwater drone you use?
Its a QYSEA FIFISH V6s
If this was America you would of found 7 murder weapons
What I was expecting lmao
I love the idea just imagine setting this thing with Ai self controlled drone you just sit back have a beer cheers comrades.
Gollum went high tech.

Just found your channel nice work.
I would be on e phone to Shielder chasis for a new bulkhead. This is waaaay beyond my skills, and patience!
Great.. Nice works.. waiting for the next video..👍👍👍 keep it up
Very cool. How deep can you go with it?
I got the 100meter line for it but have never been used fully, as we dont have waters that deep here :)
Would love to get down about 80 to 100 feet in some deep Canadian Lakes.@@CMFotoPeak
can you provide some more info on what gear you use to weld aluminium? That's the only thing I can't fix on my land rover right now
Hi, the welder was something I borrowed that could do aluminum (Sigma Galaxy 400). It did an ok job, but definitely hard to do right on thin sheets. Unfortunately I don't remember what settings was used. I tried welding aluminium with TIC but that was not a success either.
wow man, I would've given up on that bulkhead. Great job!
Those side windows... easy to get out... complete **** to get back in again!
Tell me about it, I test fitted 1 window, which took several sessions over 3 days to get right :')
@@CMFotoPeak I gave up and got a friend to do mine in the end (after marring the side panels a dozen times!) - The small ones at the back are easy... a bit of soapy water does the trick 👍
Good job! 🤣🙏🦘
The broken gearbox pieces may be from the 1st gear synchromesh hub as I had the same broken parts on mine and it is not really visible without dismantling the gearbox. There are three of these sections on the hub altogether and it still seems to operate OK with just the one. It's where the brass synchromesh cone engages with the hub.
you put the rear quarter panel flanges on the outside of the wing?
Hi. Yes at first, and shortly corrected the error. I mentioned this in the commentary track :)
Who is here after seeing mr indian hacker viedo❤😂
