As noted in the video, you cannot screen record and screen cast at the same time. I confirmed with DJI that this was a limit of processing power resources and cannot be fixed. So just keep that in mind so you don't accidentally lose any important data during a job. About $300 invested...I’m happy overall with the brightness(I used it mostly at night) and the latency(minimal). And stability(stay...

Using a mavic 3 t. Is it possible to do a programmed switch on or off a mounted JZ T30 spotlight in a waypoint mission ? Same procedure like video on off?
Hey...I think I responded to your post on the facebook group. In a waypoint mission, this isn't an option. I haven't tried the live recording method though. I suspect you'd need a specially developed mission planning software(which you can do through the DJI developer suite) that would allow you to hardcode the spotlight control.

@@STRThermal, thx a lot for your answer. I think you are right that there is no way to do so 👍
I have a question there is no PIN in the remote how can i find it?
You need to first export the pin KML file. Unfortunately, you can only export ALL pins at once. But you can edit the raw kml files to delete pins you don't want in the event your uploading this kml into a different mapping software. Here is a video showing how to export the kml file. th-cam.com/video/gzDTPY6mkKM/w-d-xo.html
Thanks. Great tips.
No problem!
Been thinking about getting into this business and am looking at the d3 package on covert drone’s website is this a good drone to get and worth the money ? It’s a lot to invest but just making sure this is a worth While purchase
It is a lot of investment, but if it’s legal in your state and you’re willing to do the work and market yourself well, it can pay for itself. You will not get rich and I don’t anyone in Alabama doing this(deer recovery only) as a living or full time job. But many of us here in Alabama have at least paid off our M3T setups in a season or season and a half.
@ that’s what I was wondering Ik it’s not gonna make me an insane amount of money but was wondering if it would at least be a sustainable job
I think you could make a living out of a drone related business, but not deer recovery alone. It’s a side hustle but could grow if you have enough business.
@ thank you
Are rocks also a problem in the morning or just in the afternoon?
Rocks, stumps, logs/trunks usually are only an issue on a warm day when the sun is actively warming those objects and as they hold and give off heat energy into the evening. Mornings and overcast days are usually much better search conditions.
@@STRThermalthanks! And do you know how well the thermal camera performs through those mexican oaks?
Seeing through thick canopies(spring, summer) can be very difficult. Winter when the leaves are thinning and dropping off makes it easy.
Is it easier to find animals with it when its cold outside? Like at night
Yes, winter is always easier but a bright sunny day can still pose a problem. Cloudy days, morning and late evenings are best...and of course at night.
Honestly thinking about getting into this for recovery in Arkansas is this drone worth it and is there anything I need to know before I buy jt
We have organized about 25 deer recovery pilots in Alabama and have had a pretty busy last two deer seasons. Only 4 of those pilots use the M30T, the rest use the M3T and either the JZ T30 or CZI GL10 spotlights. What is your business model and will you be only doing deer recovery? Also, what is your weather like during deer season. If the weather is continuous wet, rainy, and/or snowy or if you will be heavily involved in human or even pet search and rescue year round, might wanna consider the M30T. For me, m3T is lower price and ,for our Alabama weather, works with the lack of IP(weather/ingress) rating. Check out this video comparing the two from my perspective… th-cam.com/video/e1siLzzIgoc/w-d-xo.htmlsi=QymfTyByvE_whmk2
@ I’m thinking about getting into deer recovery and maybe and maybe heard analysis as well
@ also I’m in Arkansas close by u and the weather doesn’t get too bad around here
@ sorry to bug you with a bunch of questions but would you happen to know the average flight time of a mt3 with the jz t30 spotlight on I’m seeing that the flight times say it’s about 36 minutes on average per battery but wondering what it atchualy is in a real world application
M3t
Looks like that deer has an injured pedicle or something!
Is that spotlight you using at end already installed on drone or something you added? Did I see IR?
The spotlight is an add-on accessory and, Yes!, this is the DJI Mavic 3T(Thermal) drone.
Do these have their own battery and if so how long would it last please?
The spotlight runs on the Mavic 3T battery. Normally I get about 30 minutes out of a Mavic 3T battery. With the light mounted you will lose about 2 minutes of flight time due to the mass alone, and about 7-8 minutes less minutes if you leave the light on continuously.
@@STRThermal thanks for that. Is your assessment based on 10% or 100% continuously?
@@STRThermal thanks for the info... would your continuous light be based on 10% or 100%?
I always have mine set to 100% light output but only run it continuously ON when I have found the wounded or dead deer. So in reality it only costs you a few minutes of battery life.
Hi, interesting video, thank you for sharing. Doesn't the DJI RC Pro also output video from the usb-c port like can be done with the DJI RC 2? You need to use an usb-c IF certified cable.
Yes it does. I was doing the wireless thing to avoid damaging the RC Pro ports. I’ve seen people damage them plugging and unplugging a monitor. Wireless works great, just can’t screen record at the same time.
@@STRThermal An issue for wireless casting is latency. There is little latency with a direct connection.
@@ssb73q Actually the latency on my setup is negligible. I love it.
DJI messed up by not making save to SD card the default
I put in a request to DJI around the timing of this video. They took note of the issue but they must have determined there was some other limitation. Could be a processing power limitation of the RC Pro...I know this is one concern as that was the answer I got when I reported the not being able to do wireless casting AND screen recording at the same time. Personally, only time I remove a card is to insert a new one. I usually just offload what I need for my videos to my PC via USB-C.
Touche!!! Cheers from Knoxville
Price of the M30T dropped significantly since you made that video.
I covered the Sept. 2023 price ($13,999->$9600) change at 18:30. Has it come down further since then? Thanks.
I own and fly the M30T primarily for SAR aswell as game recovery. I cannot stress enough how important the IP55 rating and the wind resistance is. I had friends that own the M3T talking trash about how unnessecary the M30T is. For them the added features are not worth the extra $. But when they had to recover game in bad weather they quickly changed their mind and had to land. Then they called me for the M30T.
Still depends where you’re at and the weather in that region. If you’ve got wet winters or do a lot of year round pet recovery, or SAR where lives depend on it, the M30T makes sense. In Alabama where we’re at, we’ve got plenty of successful M3T deer recovery pilots, and a few that have the M30T. Some of us also assist with local manhunts with the M3T.
It's really frustrating to listen to you, how frustrated you sound to be
Ummm. Sorry. I was frustrated.
@STRThermal I understand you, hehe.. I feel it that way often to, specially when I search for missing people.
@@STRThermal I don't think the guy was meaning it in a rude or insulting way. I think he's one of those people that easily get affected by other peoples moods sometimes. I used to be that way too. If someone is stressed then I'd get stressed out. lol
Oh yeah, I don’t really think he was either. But I did sound frustrated and was. You always want to find what you’re searching for, especially a family pet. The thick canopy summer searches can be especially tough.
Great vid, currently researching this drone. Question, what is the very noticeable object at appx 12 o’clock at 00:59?
Good eye. That is a corn feeder on the edge of the field.
Where is the KML File located on the controller?
Local storage/DJI/Pin
Awesome footage mate, loved the Albino
Thanks man!
Why block out agl altidtude? I'm always curious on how far above deer you can fly and they don't care at all.
That indication is height above the takeoff point, not true AGL altitude. FAA requires the pilot to maintain 400AGL or lower using visual frame of reference, not this indicator. In rugged terrain like this property where the ground is higher by 200ft uphill and drops 250ft downhill, using that indicator can get you crashed into trees or the mountain or inadvertently flying at well above 400AGL. Depends on the deer, I can generally fly pretty close. Some deer are more skittish, some become accustomed to the sound and will barely acknowledge the drone. I attached a video below...these deer have seen the drone before...this is a private land spot where I've watched them and made multiple videos...I was within 50ft of them in many moments...the zoom makes it looks like 10ft. th-cam.com/video/_w3QNYpKGBM/w-d-xo.html
@@STRThermal Yeah, I always wondered about how you guys deal with big elevation changes down there when doing a search in big elevation changes. Makes sense. i got my 3t a week ago and still learning about it. Thanks for posting your videos. I learned a lot from them.

How do you switch from normal to thermal mode, which button?
Whatever your camera change button is…you can set a custom button. I have a video for that. You should also see, on the left side of the screen, buttons that indicate the wide, zoom, or IR(thermal) for switching cameras.
Custom controls…I have my camera change using the 5D button(wide to zoom) and the c2 trigger for visual to thermal. JZ T30 Spotlight - Custom RC Pro Controls - DJI Mavic 3T 3E Enterprise Thermal th-cam.com/video/6pQ0AWp_fbc/w-d-xo.html
I really like your videos, I have been wanting a Mavic 3T for a little while now. Do you happen to have a used model for sale or any suggestions? More for wildlife viewing and casual things, not for business.
Hi Sean, I’m not a dealer but I recommend one if you decide to buy new. I am also an admin over on the “DJI Mavic 3 Enterprise Thermal” Facebook group and sometimes there are people upgrading to the M30T. Come over and join us, just be careful buying used.
@@STRThermal Just requested to join, thanks!
lol after all that all it took was some chicken fingers 😂
Right?!?! 🤦♂️
There are some blue dots from time to time What is it for
Those are related to pinpoints. They show on the edge of the screen and may be for pins set in completely different location. They're unrelated to this search and you can hide them from the AR(augmented reality) view.
Why turn off Isotherms? Surely that's pretty much made for this job isn't it? Finally just got one of these drones :)
You're gonna love your new M3T!! I have done a lot of testing to understand the function of the isotherms and the normal auto scaling that happens when isotherms aren't on and active. My results are that there is more risk of missing things(humans and animals) if isotherms are set wrong(even by just a degree or two) than headaches associated with false positives(logs, rocks, etc) if isotherms are turned off. I also have come to trust the system enough to know that when an human or animal is in the frame, the other warm appearing objects(like when all the tree tops are pink in tint pallette) will suddenly appear colder. Isotherms, in my opinion, can come in handy when you want to look at very hot things on a very cold background, or very cold things on a hot background. Think hot boiler, generator, etc on a cool, ambient background. In both these instances where the system would make the extreme temperatures only cover a small range of your color scale, isotherms will let you focus the full color scale on the small range of temperatures you're interested in.
@STRThermal thanks for the awesome and detailed answer mate, that's great 🙂👍
Very helpful - thanks for taking the time to create this. Question in regard to S&R in a case where you need to share the pin location with a ground-based vehicle for a rescue (so they can import it into their own GPS system and execute the ground-based rescue): With DJI Fly 2 (and M3E/M3T) are we limited to having to manually provide the Lat/Lon of the pin and the rescue team manually enter the Lat/Lon coordinates into their GPS? Or, is there a more-efficient/faster/easier way to export the Lat/Lon of a Pin. Thanks!
There are a few potential options.....1) On the pin detail, there is a share icon. Click that and you'll see a QR code that will take you to google maps. If you don't have good service in your location, the google maps link won't load...in that case, they can take a picture of the QR code on your controller screen, and then use the recognition capability in the photo viewer in their device to pull the link and pull the coordinates from the link. 2) Similarly, you can take a picture of the pin coordinates and pull the individual lat and long(via OCR recognition) from the image. 3) A third option would be for you the pilot to pull the coordinates by one of the above methods, and generate a point in something like CalTopo, Hunstand, Onx in a shared map that the ground searchers could access. I have done a few other similar videos I will link below. @@STRThermal Thanks so much for the excellent info here. Very useful. As we all know, sometimes just a few seconds can make the ultimate difference in S&R.
With 450 million guns in domestic ownership in the U.S., not to mention bows, crossbows, catapults, traps, explosives etc., its amazing there are any wild creatures left still to kill in the wilds. I wonder how many wounded animals limp away to die in agony, never recovered by the 'hunters'. Presumably the advent of drones makes it even more difficult for animals to hide or escape extinction at the hands of men with the power buzz they get from gun ownership.
You really have no idea what you're talking about. No US state(I can't speak for outside the US) allows drone use for the actual hunting(harvesting) process, and many states don't allow it for the after-harvest carcass location. We only use drones to view wildlife(completely separate from the hunting process as most of us are nature lovers and conservationist), to evaluate a piece of private land(size and health of a deer herd for instance), or to recover a harvested animal(a wounded deer can run 400-600 yards wounded). What we do to recover a deer is no different, and far less intrusive, than using tracking dogs. Personally, since I've had this drone, I haven't even been hunting and have spent my time helping other hunters make sure less harvested deer go to waste.
Man I wish I had $5k to blow on this
Hey there love your videos, just curious if you zoom in to the full 56x does it make it hard to see the object? Also what height are you flying at usually?
We can find deer at 400ft agl no problem. But I’ll usually drop to 150-250ft to get a nice clean image….and at night you have to get that low so you have enough light from the spotlight. Ideal zoom levels are 7x to about 20x, too high definitely gets blurry.
Man I just got my license, I would love to get into this.
That thermal is not very good at all..
That thermal sensor is garbage.
What’s a better thermal drone under 7k?
I didn’t say there was one…I said the sensor sucks cock balls…and if you paid even close to $7k for that, you need your head examined.
it's insane for them to even charge anywhere close to that much for a damn drone wtf! @@glossjunkies6026
Is there a spotlight for mini 4 pro?
You could probably add some small lights. But nothing to the level of the spotlights for the M3E or M30 series.
Great video, I have to come back and watch it every once in a while. Your the man!
@@allamericanadventures Appreciate you my friend!
Thank you very much for all the "how to" you share.
How do you retrieve your video from the controller?
I connect the controller(or drone) to my pc using a usb-c cable. You technically can move files on the controller to the card(card cannot be used as default, thanks DJI) and then pull the card as well.

Very clever, I really like DIY stuff.
In the lower left hand corner of your screen where it shows your track in the small box, mine shows like a mapquest map where yours shows aerial view. How can I change to the aerial view like you have? Also, is there a way to adjust the brightness of this light? Yours seems 10x brighter than mine over all. I have to be down around 100' to even tell it's on.
@@weekender38 on the right side of the map view, there’s a “layer” button and you can switch to the satellite image view.
I just bought a 3T and can't get my IR camera to zoom in. Can you tell me what I need to do to get it to zoom in? The regular camera zoom in NP.
In the top right of your screen by the “three bars” menu button is a button that looks like two chain links. That’s the “Link Zoom” button and will sync your zoom camera and thermal camera zoom levels.
Thank you for the information.
Is this a plug and play accessory?? Meaning, not new firmware to update or anything. Can I take it out the box, plug it in to my M30 T and its working??
@@DigitalRaider1 Works directly with the M3T(and M3E, M3M). I think the newer version may need to be “activated” but I’ve never heard of any issues. There are other spotlight options too….CZI GL10 and Tundra has a new one coming out too.
What kind of price range would something like your set up be in
About $8000 total, for the drone kit, extra(7 total) batteries, and the spotlight.
Great video! Thanks so much. I understand you are perfectly happy with the Mavic 3T. But question: if you were starting all over from scratch... with the new pricing mentioned, and with you rating both as a 62 on your DA... would you still lean toward the Mavic 3T?
Good question, honestly, I’d probably have to revisit the DA first and see if the scores were all the same with additional experience under my belt. It’s still a much larger investment and way less portable/hideable in my transportation. And for me, most m30t users I know will use their m3t unless they absolutely need the m30t. So for me, I’d still likely start with the M3T.
@@STRThermal THANKS!!!
@@STRThermal First off I want to thank you for your channel and let you know how helpful your evaluations have been! I've been an Inspire/Mavic/AIR pilot for nearly years and have added the M3T last week for thermal SAR capabilities. The Inspire 2 is also something I pull out only when I absolutely need to, similar to the M30T scenario you mentioned above. However in longer flight scenarios where I'm filming all day, the ability to swap batteries in the controller is crucial. What do you use to charge your M3T controller while you're flying?
I use the same battery bank that I power my monitor with. It’s rare I’ve gone over 3 hrs and needed it. But if I have multiple jobs in a night or a human SAR scenario, it’s good to have a charging method outside of charging in the car.
@@STRThermal Thanks for the fast response. I just discovered that the Mavic AIR 2s batteries will also charge the M3T controller via the dual USB A attatchment that comes with the FlyMore Combo. Plus they fit in my pockets and keep my hands warm ;-)
Great instructional video, lots of easy to understand info. Thanks!
Glad you enjoyed it!
У него лазерный дальномер?
The M3T does not have the laser rangefinder like the M30T. I hardly miss it.
Great setup! I’m looking into building something similar. Question though, do you have to have wifi nearby to use the cast function or will it work without wifi somewhere like in the middle of the woods?
No, no wifi necessary. Works in the boonies, that was the intent as I’m always where there’s minimal/zero signal.
