Hayabusa Road Trip! 2,100 Miles Across Europe.
มุมมอง 1.3K2 ปีที่แล้ว
I covered 2100 miles on my gen 3 #suzuki #hayabusa in 6 days touring across Europe. I'd not been on a #busa in a few years and wanted to see whether I could tour on the new model. I was recently off a #BMW #s1000xr, which was an incredible machine, but totally different when it comes to longer distance riding. So was it possible to make the transition back to a more sports touring style bike or...

So in 2022 I completed the hattrick! I bought the third gen Hayabusa after having owned and loved both the Gen 1 and Gen 2 bikes. BUT, a question lurked deep in my mind, what was the third generation Hayabusa like handling corners? I took my 2008 Gen 2 across the twisties in France in 2019 and hated it. The bike felt big, heavy and I had no confidence at all. Almost 3 years later (and a little ...

After looking for top box racks for my Gen 3 Hayabusa, I decided to adapt the @HepcoBeckerDACH base plate I bought for @BMW #S1000R. It took some fiddling but I was able to fabricate a new bracket for the base plate. I also attached the latch from a Gen 1 #Hayabusa seat (which is the same as the Gen 3) to secure the baseplate to the bike. It requires a little tidying but overall I'm happy with ...

Givi Monokey V47 led lighting installation part 2
Hi I would be truly happy if you had more videos like this to share. I’m a big fan of the Hayabusa and love watching videos where it glides along alpine roads with the sound of the engine in the background. Thank you very much
Thanks for the nice ridealong.
Is that the Givi M3 monokey Plate? I'm picking up an S1000R and planning to do a similar topbox fitting 😎
Hiya. Yes its the monokey plate. I've got a v47 which I've been using for years and the plate fits perfectly to it. I think they're mainly generic. I've gone back to an S1000r (21rrg) which has a different plate from the 2014-2020 bikes. Hepco do the plate for it, but its another £150
Alright! The Hepco Becker plate comes with the bike, previous owner used it to carry some soft luggage. I'm really looking forward to the test ride on Monday 🤩🤞🏼 Have you had any trouble with vibration and numb fingers? BR Bjarke 😊
@singleplanediscovery3475 sounds perfect. Safe riding my friend.
Was there a follow up video after this? Could't find it. Given your experience with this I'm interested to hear what you think is the best option for cooling upgrade? Is the second fan really the way to go?
Hiya. This issue was resolved with the new motor. But at the same time I also added a second fan on the other side of the rad. I had it all apart so thought I might as well do it instead of relying on the single unit. The second fan was from a 2008 busa and I managed to wire it in to the same circuit. It worked a dream and I had no other issues with the overheating. I've uploaded that video in to TH-cam aswell. Hope that helps.
@@RizwanMustafaTheMullerRider Cool thanks I'll have a look for that video.
Great video, really looking forward to doing the same on the gen 3 this year, can’t wait!
I'm sure you'll enjoy it as much as I did. I bought a Powerbronze double bubble screen for my bike after this trip, the deflector is useless after a certain speed. I also sold my busa now, needed something more forgiving on my back. But I do miss the lady, she's an absolute pleasure!
Yes, good call. The current screen for me does seem to be lacking, OK for average distance, but for a European trip, I think this will show its weakness. I'm sorry to hear the bike has now gone, hopefully the new steed is more forgiving!
@bretthickey9033 she most certainly is, I've gone back to an S1000R, 21 reg. I had a 2014 one too, my first naked which I absolutely loved.
I watched your road trip on the 2014 S1000R, another great video, and in depth review of the bike and its capabilities, a real multi tool of a bike
@@bretthickey9033 I gotta say, that bike really impressed me. I'm hoping the 21 reg will be as good. I've got another trip planned this year across Europe into Austria. Let's see how the new lady fares....
Handles really well, hopeful to get mine there this year all being well, a bit of continental touring, just hope we have a better summer this year!
You should not talk with your mouth full... this is basic.
Food in ones mouth is not a mouth full of food. There is a distinction between the two, a subtle one perhaps for some to make the differentiation based on the quantity of said food. But a distinction nonetheless.
What a great video my brother mashallah
Jzk. Greatly appreciated
"Enjoy," and stay safe.... take care Europe.
What moving trolley is your bike on ?
Hi. Its made by a company called constand. I've not seen many around, unless you buy new. I picked this up off ebay from someone moving home, so i think i got a little lucky with it. Theyre brilliant though, well worth the money even if you buy new.
Bro, why dont you take this to ur solicitor and take some legal actions
It's something to consider. At the moment all my effort and energies are channelled into getting my home back for my family. We're still living in a Building site and I'm doing all the work myself now. So I need to focus on this.

Hello Marc. Thank you for your kind comment. I’m thinking about getting bar risers for mine, do they help much? I’ve started to experience pain in my lower back so need some extra support, it’s either that or move on to something more comfortable which I’d rather not do just yet. Also looking to have some gel inserts put in my seat, it’s not very comfortable at the moment.
For a “fully serviceable” product they should offer a discount on a new pair. Certainly not a free pair after four years but a substantial discount to keep the customer happy.
Great review. Thanks. Did you find a good alternative offering similar function? I'm struggling a bit.
Hiya. I've gone with a company called Mercury custom ear plugs this time. I went for the in ear option and paid about £150 for them at the bike show. I've not had the chance to test them yet but they feel OK when I put them in and sound quality seems good too. Ill know properly when I use on long rides. Mercury's customer service isn't great though. I bought them plugs at the end of November 2022 and was told I'd have them by mid Jan 2023. Roll on February and still nothing and they didn't have anyone I could speak in customer service, it was all via email which they never replied to. I got a bit worried mid Feb but a strongly worded email done the trick and the plugs arrived shortly after. It makes me think that if something goes wrong with them then how will I get them fixed.... I also considered a company called Sonic earplugs based in Birmingham who do custome plugs for the emergency services. But they don't generally do orders for the general public so didn't seem overly interested. I hope that helps, its tough to find a qualith product with good customer service. Happy hunting!
Hello, now the video is a couple of years old I'm wondering what solution did you opt for, I was about to buy a pair until I watched your video, now looking at Custon Fit Guards or Plugzz with the 'Y' lead?
Thanks for the bullet dodge. Won't be buying them then.
I’ve just bought a pair of Mercury Ear plugs. Despite the build quality of the Ultimate Ears, the sound and technology was/is brilliant and it spoils you. So I took the plunge with a different provider. I’ve yet to use them but Mercurys customer service is shockingly poor. Let’s hope I don’t need to contact them.
I know the feeling, I got Plugzz instead as you can replace the cable, mould was cheap but the cable cost little more since the speakers are built in.
Sorry Sir, but this is a band-aid and it's just covering up a issue of overheating, NOT fixing it. I'm a Engineer and Master Tech from 3 motorcycle manufacturers. Have someone diagnose the true problem and fix it. T.S. RACING
Hiya thanks for commenting.. the issue was resolved. Overheating problem fixed and the bike ran a dream, just as it should. So the solution worked.
If it works and keeps the bike from overheating then it's a solution to a problem the engineers should have foreseen
Молодец, Я тоже свой V47 прокачал. th-cam.com/video/A9-oYcAPRCo/w-d-xo.html
What a excellent review on the Busa .....the trip looked amazing ... you did a great job detailing everything I needed to know re touring on my Gen 2 Busa around New Zealand .....really looking forward to getting underway .....thankyou so much for this review top notch 👏👏👌
You're very welcome. The Gen 3 is a revelation, the cruise control & quick shifter make long distance touring so much easier. And you don't compromise on power! I loved my gen2 and missed it after I sold it, every bike thereafter was compared my 2008 busa, until I bought this. Its phenomenal! Have a safe trip, and enjoy the lady!
@@RizwanMustafaTheMullerRider will do thanks 😊
Muller rider, thanks for sharing your experience on this matter. I just picked up the official givi light kit, but I like your idea more. An ability to brighten the light output when brakes are applied. I have an ‘07 Honda ST1300, recently purchased, and I have not done anything with it save for riding it. I do want to add lights to the aftermarket giviV47 mono key topbox/top case like you are doing.
It's the "ummmm" for me. Helpful video for sure just know what you're going to say. Instead of saying "ummm" just pause gather your thoughts and continue.
its right or left side fan from hayabusa gen2
You’ve made this so easy for me. Solving the process was gonna be the most difficult part, all of the work I can do no problem. Thanks again.
Very nice. Exactly what I’m after. Thanks! Lol, I’m cheap af and proud of it.
Pretty good video you have here.. I just picked up a 2006 Hayabusa with the overheating issue but I wanted to know what Denso motor did you use to replace and your primary fan, because I'd rather rebuild my original, than spend 500 bucks on a new one from Suzuki. I'm very mechanically inclined & would have no problem doing this I know it's an old thread here ...although I would look forward to hearing back some info on what Denso motor was used.
Hi. Thanks for yoir comment. I cover this in another video- th-cam.com/video/_ckxbQfwhxM/w-d-xo.html I picked up a dense motor from Honda Civic for £20 off ebay. It was a brand new motor, I had to adjust it a little to make it fit but it worked a treat. I hope that helps.
Mine have lasted 8 years, so you might get what you pay for? They are fine, one wire has frayed, they are offering to fix it at a discounted rate ....
Not sure what you mean by ‘get what you pay for’. I paid the ticket price and bought directly from Ultimate Ear. Perhaps the quality has dipped a little since you bought yours? Great to hear you’ve got 8 years of use out of yours, I won’t be buying another set that’s for sure.
@@RizwanMustafaTheMullerRider Its a saying which normally means that there is value in paying more (for some items). In this case, I believe mine have done well and were the better part of £300 at the time as I also paid for faster manufacturing as we were just about to do a European rideout. But cant comment on the current quality. It's a simple device and simple materials, unless its been changed a lot, it should be the same.
@@Chazaxl I paid just under £200 for mine. A bunch of us did at the time as similar to you we enjoy riding across Europe and like to have comms with one another as well as our devices. I don’t believe there was a more superior option at the time I purchased these, but I may be mistaken. As I’ve said in the video, the concept is great but I certainly felt the build quality was below average. One of my earpieces actually arrived damaged so I had to send it back for repair. Mine are also uncomfortable after a few hours in, despite the lube. Maybe the dimensions of my ears have changed over the years but lots of things to consider when assessing to buy a set. There is another organisation called Sonic who provide earpieces for the police service. They might be an alternative or plugfone also do a budget alternative which I might explore.
@@RizwanMustafaTheMullerRider Understood. I found that I went through a phase of pushing them in too deep, hurt me a lot. I learnt later just to place them inside and let them do the work.
The wrap around your exhaust is ridiculous looking and the exhaust holder/strap covers up the logo on the end cans looks just wrong ruins the bike being better leaving it stock one rought man
I love it 😃😃😃

Thanks for this review as you've just saved me a load of dosh! I was considering these but will not buy them from what is obviously a cowboy outfit. Thank you brother I really appreciate your video I currently own a 2008 Yamaha fz1000 s and I only have 13000 miles on the bike I purchased the bike with 6,000 miles on the bike. But currently I was looking at a 2008 Hayabusa with 20,000 miles. The person that owns it is the original owner he watch the bike as it was being assembled right out of the crate back in 2007 he barley road the bike and now he wants to get rid of it and I saw your video and it's helping me make a better choice. Aside all the good do you have anything bad to say about it. As far as mechanics or common problems? I am from the USA.
You're welcome. Generally the Japanese bikes are bullet proof, as long as it has been serviced regularly and well maintained. That being said, 20k miles means its around the valve clearance service mark. If its had it done by a main dealer then great, if it hasn't then youre probably looking at $1000 bill to get them checked and adjusted l. Iwouldnt trust anyone but a main dealer with the valves, these high performance bikes need specialist attention & warranty. Also be sure to check the fairings clips are all in order. They're thin bits of plastic that can break loose and leave you with gaps in fairing panels (I've got another video on that). Best of luck, they're amazing machine.
How tall are you and how was the comfort with you're hight and distancing
I'm 5'8" and was able to flatfoot both sides. Comfort was ok for the distance we covered but by the end of the day i found that my wrists and shoulders started to ache. You can bet bar risers but I didn't messabout with that, I didn't want to interfere with the aerodynamics of the bike. I've bought an S1000XR now. I would definitely recommend that for long distance sports touring.
I was on my 2015 Z1000 when this same Gen2 cooly cruised passed me... On my way to purchasing it after that mesmerising experience..
