GEC at a fair price?!? Grohmann Knives Canada, Slimline 2-Blade Jack in Rosewood.
มุมมอง 1.2K2 ปีที่แล้ว
Yes. I said it. This is practically a GEC at a 45-50 CAD. The value is unbelievable. Sure, it has some very slight flaws, but I've seen GECs with those very same issues. A shoutout to a fellow Canadian channel! @kniceslice780 Go give him some love. Fun fact: Grohmann's seconds are available for fixed-blade knives, too! In fact, I have one!

Ah, the things you can find at Antique Shows! I snagged this at a little show and boy, I'm impressed. I still prefer my #68 White Owl. But hey, this is, after all, a more budget-y knife!
An outstanding knife from Japan! Moki Blakiston's Fish Owl. (Shimafukuro)

Another winner from Kent Of Inglewood! The Moki Fish Owl is a small, pocket-friendly, carry knife. The quality is amazing and the style is beautifully simple. This video was a HOOT to make! Channel(s) mentioned in the video: @NickShabazz
The Helle Viking Knife, a piece of history.
มุมมอง 14K2 ปีที่แล้ว
Based on a traditional Norwegian design, the Helle Viking is a beautifully functional replica of a real Viking knife! Feauturing Triple-Laminated carbon steel and a Scandi grind, this gorgeous piece is perfect for any hunting trip, fishing outing, or just a forest hike. The Masur Birch wood elevates the value even more! This knife would make a great collector's piece, for those who don't use th...

The Buck 112 Ranger. And why you need one.
มุมมอง 41K2 ปีที่แล้ว
An all American classic! You can't beat a Buck knife! This has to be one of the sturdiest knives I've ever held! Disclaimer: At around 12:50 - 14:20 I mentioned a story about the 112 being used by the US Marines. This was incorrect, I had meant to say US Navy. I just wanted to clarify for those who were confused. #buckknives #knives #edc

Hello Again! It's been a while since my last video. I meant to do this sooner, but being out for the summer cuts into free time. So the video has been delayed. You can expect to see it today or tomorrow. This was just a quick lil' teaser. Sorry if I sounded raspy, allergies are back! 😁

What's your favourite blade shape? An Open Tag. (READ DESCRIPTION).
มุมมอง 5552 ปีที่แล้ว
Hi everyone! So the video went a *bit* longer than expected, so for those who don't want to listen to me rambling for almost an hour, here are the details of the Open Tag. This Open Tag asks the question "what's your favourite blade shape?" You can choose 1-3 of your favourite blade shapes. (No more than 3!) This Open Tag refers mainly to traditional pocket knives, although modern folders are a...
A Gorgeous Pocket Whittler! Case Seahorse Whittler In Blue Denim Jigged Bone.
มุมมอง 2.4K2 ปีที่แล้ว
Thanks for watching! Apologies for the rant, I'm just very passionate about knives. 😄 This Seahorse Whittler makes a great pocket knife! But is it a good whittler? I'm no expert on whittling so I would love to hear your thoughts on this knife's performance as a carver. Even if it isn't a good whittler, it's still beautiful! The Blue Denim Peach Seed Jig Bone makes it look and feel so wonderfull...

Are these better than Opinel? MAM knives Portugal pocket knife
I have a Buck 500 Duke. Greetings from Austria/EU. Bought it in the early 90s in New York City.
Thank you for sharing your excellent review of the Buck 112 Ranger. My first Buck knife was the model 110. A while later I picked up the Buck 110. These are extremely well handling, comfortable knives for personal use. I also have an older Schrade 10T lock blade knife. Here's the Buck story as it relates to the USS Ranger fight between sailors: A first generation Buck 112 Ranger hunting knife The story tells of an altercation between two sailors on the USS Ranger which became very serious. One of the sailors was inflicted with a deep stab wound, supposedly from a Buck 110. Due to the severity of the wound, the USS Ranger commander banned all knives with a blade exceeding 3” from use on the ship. This also disqualified the 110 from being sold in the ship’s store.
i love opinel,i have opinel 12 saw and knife and opinel 8 pruning knife
Wow, you're from canada?,me too and was typing in in otter messer ,and found you. Looking for the little doctor from otter messer. Can you help?
Helle got it's start in 1932, this knife was designed in 1977, and it is a smaller take on the tollekniv if i'm not mistaken, . and the designe on the sheath is called a selbu rose. that is what i got from their website
How would you sharpen this knife since the blade is one sided?
10:03 spyderco shaman enters chat
does the bestman 2 blade fit in the sheath? good vid lovely blade
The twin blade model fits in the sheath, albeit quite tightly. I reckon the single blade version would pair significantly better. Thanks for watching and cheers!
@@TheStreamingEnderman thanks man. i am just about to pull the trigger :)
Definitely better than Opinel and old bear . I have them all ,, the MAM is the best in my opinion.
there is a way of mounting the belt loop around the belt which gives you a steady result. it's the way you attach that makes it very stable and not swinging. sorry for my poor English.
thank you! bought 112 auto! loved your review!
My dad bought one before I was born. It's a 2 dot so it was made in 1975 - 1980, back then their year indicator had a range instead of a new one each year. I was born in 81 and my dad had it forever and gave it to me a few years ago. I love it! I bought a 110 auto too, but I want a 112 auto and a sport pro and a custom one with stag. My favorite Buck knife is the 112.
Nice review. After watching your video i purchased this knife with black g10. I already had the barlow with green micarta but I'm not a fan of the half stop
I’ve just bought one of these and it’s absolutely fantastic. It feels far more robust than my Hippekniep and the blade is as thick as on my large Mercator. I love it.
Sad they couldn't make a new handle with a smaller blade slot come on opinel 😮😊
I love this knive, mine wasn't so hard to flip, I could actually do it pretty easily one handed, maybe the screw were tightened differently?
Sometimes I carry my 110 and sometimes my 112. It's hard to choose sometimes. Good video.
Tough decision, eh? Cheers!
I love the no. 6, I know that the no. 8 is the standard but I find the no. 6 to be a bit more pocket friendly, especially if you carry your knife in your watch pocket like I do
Here in France the Opinel 6 is 10 Euros from the official site (maybe cheaper elsewhere.) that is $10.89 or £8.33. Amazing value.
I've had a carbon 7 and 9 since the 1980's , still going strong. Recently bought a 6 , with my small hands it's perfect. Now bought a walnut 6; engraved with my name from Opinels own site. ( Google). I have a large number of pocket knives in my 80 plus years , Puma , Benchmade , Sheffield , Cat etc. but Opinel is definitely favourite by miles.
the wood is the weak point on an opinel 😂
Blade should be little longer 👍
The 3.5mm thick blade can chop too
where i can buy the blade assist opener/push adapter?
You know if they do them in inox? Thx for review.
Was about to order victorinox florist knife and saw this one. Do they make same model but smaller? Hows handle and weight? Thx for review
Thx for review! Just come across this brand. Looks like a good work knife. Looking at Taylors Hardwood 6cm Spear Point Pocket Knife in same line. Whats the weight?
It's gentlmans knife... 😊
Just found this video,, 🤔,, Just fyi, (I'm sure by now you've found out anyway 😊) Helle is pronounced HELLAHH,, all the best my friend from the future, 😅,,
Just got one love it. What oil should I use
Otter must have a great reproduction ability. My spring end is cut badly just the same. My pull from the weak half stop to the open position is even stroger then yours. Even closing it from fully open position takes a lot of force. I'm not surprised you hit the tripod when opening the knife. My spring is totally silent. My blade to spring transition is as bad, the tang end is cut at an 30 degree angle, not parallel to the spring end. My blade is straight. Lucky me. The wood is wonderful.
Cool blade, and package, quality product of Norway
Good video review of the Buck 112 Ranger, an excellent working EDC knife and a work of art. I have the 110 also. The 112 is notably smaller but still requires the carry sheath for practicality. Liked and subscribed.
I’ve always been a fan of the Buck 110 but today I ordered my first Buck 112 from the Buck website. I ordered mine with the nickel steel bolsters and drop point blade. Can’t wait until it arrives. I will be buying an open top holster to edc carry it in just as I carry my 110s ( unless I am hunting or fishing which is when I use the factory Buck snap sheath). The rugged elegance of the standard 110 and 112 knives gives them a beauty that not many other knives can come close to.

I tracked one of these down. From a brilliant guy who has a phenomenal collection. I'm deciding to pull the trigger or not. I remember this video well as it was your first. Thought I'd give it another watch. Missing you're videos mate. Hope you are well? 🤝
I have the exact same knife. The handles are laminated rosewood, not solid rosewood. I think it matches the stainless blade well, to make this knife wholly corrosion resistant. Mine's pull is the worst I have ever experienced 12/10 - I cant open it with my nail, I need another tool to pry it open...
Buck only started using the date code system in 1986.
Nice. I have that same model. I acquired it quite a while when GEC’s weren’t that expensive, especially that model. Mine has the glow in the dark scales. And O-1 tool steel for the blade. I also have a Farm and Field Bullnose in O-1 tool steel also. Unfortunately, they are not many traditional pocket knives in O-1, that’s why I chose it over 1095, even though there are similarities.
💚
I used this 30+ years ago as a boy scout for everything. Rope, wood, gutting fish. It's great. Love it. Also, its wood all around since metal and winter is not good at all.
No.7
Hi I have a couple old Joseph rodgers and sons knifes would you be able to teach me more about what they are exactly ? I can send photos
Unfortunately illegal to carrying in UK because the blade can be locked.
For me the #6 is too small .I prefer Victorinox as a pocket knife but like the way the #9 fits my hand.
I love my Opinel #8 Inox. I'm looking around for another at a good price.
We can carry any knife in Britain we just need a reason. But if you live in a rural area cops tend not to care as long as it's not ridiculously large and you're not being an idiot with it.
My first 06 will be the carbone one and the second one would be the walnut I think 😄
Oh interesting what you point out about the different color beach wood between the carbone and stainless steel blades. I've been confused by seeing the knives on photos with the different handles where oak looked lighter then the beach wood handles but your video clearly shows otherwise! I just bought my first Opinel, a stainless n 8. Will use that while camping mainly for cutting food. But now I want a 6 as my EDC. Keen to try one with a carbone blade, unfortunately then don't give carbone different handle options.. Nice video! :D EDIT: my only complaint would be that mine is a little stiff to open and lock. Is there any way to improve that? I don't want to just start spraying around with WD40 around the wood.
