    on t5 of the all-in vigour build you can play whatever the heck you want, but usually it’s vigour, blur (repeated with time), sun/animal minor, past returns again (played with slips) and a second vigour (repeated with slips)

      @@FasulloFederico in those cases you blur to set up Dahan for the following turn, or heal a blight. You can also choose to not play the card and play the delayed skip build.

    6:30 you gained energy after going top top, then switched to bottom bottom but didn't reduce the amount you gained. Then you paid 4 energy for the event while having 1 plant instead of just three. So it turned out just fine, and maybe it was just a conscious decision, but I'm just mentioning it in case someone else finds it weird :D

      By edge case he is referring to the worst-case scenario i.e. the worst random draws, so bad luck. On Board C against Prussia, the two towns are both Mountains, so if Mountains comes up first as an Explore, the Invaders are building two cities without much you can do with most Spirits. You'd usually go Blighted Island soon.

      I think it means essentially the most difficult land to deal with. For example here it'll be 6 damage, and has a higher chance of coming up next turn and could even potentially come up 3 turns in a row because it's coastal.

      I know the other replies are correct in this case. But I always thought edge cases meant situations where something unusual happens in a game, and it isn't clear what to do from a glance in the rulebook. Usually the edge cases are later answered in FAQ's, or before the game is released, if has been playtested well.

      @@alphabet2238 There's multiple contexts. When Red says "edge case" here he's not talking about specific rulings or how to resolve specific interactions, he's referring to edge cases in his gameplan (as in, "it's unfortunate that Mountains came up because it makes Ember-Eyed Behemoth's plan harder to execute, especially if the next Explore is Coastal Lands"). Personally, I think the term is used a little liberally, as half of all the starting Brandenburg-Prussia cards have Mountain on them (and I argue this is the best starting card with Mountain) but it does alter how you approach it which I think is closer to how he uses the term.

    Could the blight healing innate be changed to "pay 1 energy to remove 1 blight"? That would nerf the blight healing without also nerfing the fire innate.

    We found a really good synergy with Shroud and VSOTE's Resilience aspect - Shroud was able to move VSOTE's presence around to solve lands, and VSOTE was able to protect Shroud's presence on ravaging lands where it was holding damaged buildings

    Air Moves is still inferior vs. defend on earth, Just from the RED memes perspective. moving out doesn't = defend with even minimal dahan counter. you would have to add City/Invader move to even come close to yet not equal. I haven't watched all but that Defend 5 for 3 earth seems redonkulous OP. even as a finder/veng/lighty player an almost free D5 seems silly OP

    Great video, and I strong agree with almost everything you've said. My inputs: - Def can't make it 4 blue, but it think range 0 is a huge nerf. What about keep the same, but you have to sac a presence? I think that may be balanced. - I think fire might need an extra fear, but that thematically might lean too close to the sun innate. - Disagree about moving dahan with the moon innate, that makes the animal one redundant. Thematically it's a no, even if i agree the 3 moon level needs a slight buff. - The sun innate is extremely strong, and not just because of the minors. In fact, the bigger problem is the prevalence of insane sun majors. I know you don't play Starlight as a major spirit, but believe me, it's insanely strong at it. I've done stupid things opening any of the broken sun majors on t2 with a card play track build with sun element(s). You can reclaim loop cards like Indom, Vigor, UG, Instruments, Powestorm and even Exaltation and it's far stronger than anything a minor build can achieve. Especially into things like 6/6. - I think your boon nerf is too much. Thematically, I'd like there to be a forget clause, it's out of character without one. Perhaps something like you've proposed, with a forget clause to bump it up to its current form. I like the sound of that. - What about making Gather an exaltation? Give someone else the ability too? That's a big risk, given how good Constancy is. Maybe at 1 cost it could be balanced? Gather is a cool card, but too underpowered as is. Needs a bump for certain. Thanks for the video! Would love more theory stuff on Starlight. Really... Test the major builds! I have a couple of posts on Reddit showing the insane things you can achieve, maybe give them a wee look 😉

    If the Fire part currently is balanced and you reduce the range to 0. How about rewording the fire part by: '1fear, 2 damage in target land or an adjacent land.' You could even buff it by replacing it with 2 damage divided over target land and an adjacent land.

    Is it too much of a nerf to have the defend just affect the dahan (not the land)? I don’t play starlight much, but it feels like it’s not too bad of a nerf, given the built in blight heal.

      @@rmlains starlight has plenty of other tools, so the spirit can function well with this change. However, I believe Earth would likely be too weak compared to other options.

    I think there's a line where you play everything except here there be monsters, do blur in both land 3 and 5 (using a slip), vigor once so you only have 1 land with invaders, do roiling bog then vigor again - terror level 1 victory

    More fractured! woohoo! Pour Time Sideways really has great value when pocketing. If playing with Finder and Breath, you can empty a board and skip the dump lands. Otherwise, yeah pretty crap card. Question: Why is the elements from Elemental Boon lost when slipping, but not the elements from Gift of Nature's Connection?

    Thanks for this guide. I would disagree slightly and I think Fractured is the simplest highest complexity spirit, at least once you are playing a multi Spirit game (2+). I think Fractured isn’t even high complexity if played in a multi Spirit game (he is more intuitive to me than Vengeance or Many Minds). Why? Unless you are trying some speed run, Fractured’s game plan boils down to doing as many Slips/repeats as possible each turn. The extra repeats will allow any combination of Spirits to get ahead of the invaders even against any level 6 Adversary. I can’t comment on solo play where I think Fractured is a much harder puzzle. Fractured amplifies the teams most powerful cards, so the spirit scales better with more Spirits in my opinion. In a 4 Spirit game you are guaranteed to encounter the best Minor and Major powers, leading to very consistent matchups against every level 6 adversary. I also think Fractured gets simpler to play in a higher Spirit game even though in theory you have more choices for Slips and silly combos.

      By as many Slips as possible I mean whatever is sustainable. Usually this is 2 slips per turn, and you may burst to 3 or 4 rarely if needed. That’s because 2 slips is 1 Time but 3 slips is 3 Time total, so going beyond 2 slips per turn will destroy your economy.

    Hey Red. How often do you find yourself playing just one maxed adversary with "weaker" spirits to have some fun. I don't like the mess of doubling adversaries, but with the better spirits we just win about 95% of the time against Level 6. Is there any other changes or styles you would recommend to maybe make me lose a game or two without making things to complicated? We play live so i can also make homebrew modifications... Love the content, cheers!

      @@DomenG33K in a higher player count game with experienced players, you’ll find it impossible to lose (regardless of the Spirit). This is why I like to play low doubles.

    24:52 Isn't it possible to skip fear card actions? I think I saw you do it sometime on cards without "May", the game gives you a 'finish resolving' option you can click.

    Wind lighting has really been growing on me since it came to digital. The range increase alone opens up so many options on so many spirits! The last few games I’ve played it with friends has really made me aware of the difference between range 0 and “in one of your lands” effects. Feels bad not to be able to extend the range of things like Boon of Watchful Guarding 😆

      Oh I understand exactly how you feel! I played Finder yesterday, rushed to the "+1 energy +1 range on everything", then afterwards realized that I couldn't push stuff as efficiently (with Open The Ways not active in the target land).
