I've been blessed with sales, but cursed with not finding any great inventory! Can we pull together a Christmas vintage booth look with very little items?
A Writer’s Haven | Fall Booth Reset & Cozy Academia Decor

This one was a bunch of fun to do! I really think I was able to capture the story of a writer along the New England coast with the subtle ocean decor pieces and ships mixed in. I LOVE the idea of telling a story in a vintage booth space or even within your own home. I think we will try and explore this idea a bit more next year! Let me know what you think and which pieces/setup was your favorite.

I'm so happy to have fulfilled my dream of staring a refillery! The idea for UpStream Zero-Waste Store and Refillery was born over 5 years ago when I was in Graduate School for Sustainability Management. It took awhile to build up the courage and the capital to make it happen, but it did happen!!! Come along with me as I turn a vendor booth space into a sustainable refill shop.
Movie Inspired Summer Booth Reset: Part 1
มุมมอง 3.5K4 หลายเดือนก่อน
The summer reset is here; inspired by the beautiful movie, Where The Crawdads Sing! Of course I leave myself with the task of transforming my booth in just one day, right before the big spring market. 😵💫 I’ve always been captivated by the natural beauty and rustic charm depicted in the movie, and I wanted to bring a piece of that magic to my booth. My goal was to add touches of nature, earthy ...

Hey everyone! I had the absolute pleasure of spending the day estate sale shopping with, Natalie. We got an early start trying to uncover some unique pieces for our booths. Natalie has such an amazing eye for detail and styling. Love her booth!
My grandma was an illustrator and watercolor artist. Your painting is similar to hers! Her job in the 50s and 60s was to illustrate the clothing ads in the newspaper for one of the department stores. On the weekends she would always paint landscapes. :)
Congratulations on a successful 2024! I’ve really enjoyed your videos. I appreciate your end of year breakdown of expenses and profits. Did your end of year booth profit reflect rent, commission, and cost of goods (inventory)? I have a booth in Birmingham, AL and my most popular items for 2024 were artwork, brass, bar ware, colored glassware, and uranium glass. Wishing you an even more profitable 2025!🎉 You’re doing a fantastic job with your booth, refillery, and TH-cam channel!💯🥳🙌
So excited to see how your booth space & refillery keeps growing and doing better and better!!!!
Have you considered selling online?
I’m not a reseller but if I was I would probably just do a booth so thanks for explaining this all so thoroughly.
Thanks for sharing! I haven’t broken down the numbers on my booth yet for the year, but now I’m motivated to do it.
A great breakdown Amanda! Looking forward to what 2025 has to offer
Thank you! I think 2025 is shaping up to be a year of refining the processes in each area! Hoping I can put a trip up to Virginia on the calendar too!
My booth is usually a break even situation. But I really enjoy the people and learning. I am hoping to do more of the 'reset' idea this coming year. I haven't had the capacity for that kind of time yet.
When I actually calculate in rent and sourcing expenses a good estimate for what I actually profited is a little over $1000. I'll have to actually sit down a do the numbers, but I like doing the booth for a little extra money and because I simply enjoy the creative outlet. I think a lot of booth vendors are that way!
Oh boy!!! I see more sourcing vids in our future!!👏👏
Lots more! I need so much stuff right now.😱
Great video. Loved your resets. Thank you for sharing!
Thanks for watching! I think this year's resets will be really awesome.
Keep going girl! Get sourcing the more you have for sale the more you sell🙌🏻🙌🏻 proud of you and your Sis
Thank you for the encouragement! You're right, the more I have the more I sell, and I'm always on the hunt for new inventory! Hopefully more frequency and better luck for 2025!
@ come to NC 🙌🏻🙌🏻
Interesting video, thank you. Can you talk more about the refillery...I have never heard of this.
Sure thing! I'm doing a refillery tour and can talk more about the concept!
This was goooood stuff! The refillery really took off! I love seeing numbers in this way😊 It all made sense to me😊
I'm so excited about the refillery too! It's been a fun adventure!
Just found your channel. Thank you for sharing!
I'm so glad you found us!
I think you're one of the few resellers who doesn't have enough merchandise. More often than not I hear story after story of how resellers are swimming in merchandise or trying to get rid of their death piles. It's definitely a balancing act to get it right.
It would be nice to try and shop some doom piles! Sourcing here recently has been difficult and it doesn't help that I'm trying to be picky with what I grab. 2025 will be a lot about going more frequently and really trying to hit estate sale. Can be hard when I work most weekend.
Amanda thank you for sharing. I too am working on breaking down my sales by monthly categories. One thing I have noticed in our antique mall where I am a vendor and clerk and that is Christmas sells early. It was selling end October on. I have been a vendor since 2019 and I am still learning and growing. Happy New year
Yes! Early is better. I think a lot of people would be able to sell Christmas in October. I try to hold on to fall for as long as possible since it's my favorite season. 😅
You should add vintage purses and jewelry to your clothing area. People love accessories! They seem to be the equivalent of ‘smalls’. Retail boutique here, in Colorado.
Love that! I had one or two purses this year and just asked to bring in vintage jewelry! Super excited to see how it does and glad you suggested it! Makes me feel like it's a good direction to go.
@@gildedgoodsvintage. Glad to hear that! I really appreciate you sharing your sale information. I love seeing how trends are similar or different, it’s so interesting. I’m so happy you are doing well,, you have great taste and ideas for business. Keep it up! 😊
Thank you so much for all the information! You are amazing!!!
You’re too kind! Thanks for watching.
So helpful for me. I’m 18 months in and it’s amazing to me how smalls save the month! Thanks for the transparency for the good of our businesses. Video ideas: I would love to see how you store inventory. Especially holiday or seasonal specific. Also would love creative ideas on price tags that are readable and don’t distract from the display. We can’t use sticker so I’m taping tags on things sometimes and it can look messy. Help!
I'm glad the video helped! It's easy for people to justify items under $10, which is why the low cost smalls are so handy. I also noticed that $12 to $16 price points did really well this year for me. That's a great idea! I feel my tags can get in the way as well, but I try to stick to something that fits the aesthetic of the booth. I'll look around at some other creative options from vendors and see if I can put something together!
Great information!
So glad it was useful!
I appreciate you sharing. It made me take a look at my booth. I too need to be more consistent with inventory thru the year
Sometimes we just want to have fun with it, so it makes booking a bit tedious. Though I love having the data to refer back to and to learn from. Maybe you can find some insights for you space!
Amanda, great recap, I have a question, you mentioned in Jan you didn’t pay into rent, do you pay a monthly rent or is it based on sales?
Rent is monthly based on square footage. These numbers were just sales minus commission, which for us is 10% of our gross sales. For a better idea of what I made each month in the vintage booth I still need to subtract my $250 rent and expenses. For this year, some months were negative after rent and expenses, but overall came out with a profit.
@@gildedgoodsvintageYour rent space is an awesome price. I have a booth half your size and that what I pay !
Thank you for the year’s breakdown, especially the numbers in categories. Also trends you experienced. I’m thinking about a booth space and the best location. I have so much inventory I have to sell it. I get so much information watching your videos. Love the re-sets. Have a very Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year!
I have some videos coming up that might really help you! One specificly on booth locations and considerations when looking at different rental spaces. Having inventory is a great place to start! And honestly what I really need to be focusing on soon.
Nice job! Love watching what you do & for sharing financial information!@😊
Thank you so much! Sharing that information helps me stay accountable for my goals and I hope it helps others too! Plus I can go back and look how far I've come at the end of next year!
Good information! Thanks for sharing & best of luck in 2025!
Thanks so much! I'm excited to see what we can accomplish this next year!
I'm impressed with your organizational skills. I am curious if you also record the cost of your regular booth inventory purchases (thrifting) and if those expenses were reflected in your net earnings. I don't know if I should count all of the purchases for this year's expenses or just the ones that sold. If that makes any sense, how do you handle that?
This didn't reflect any of my expenses this year. I honestly haven't been great at tracking my thrifting expenses. 😅 I'm planning to track it much better this next year. But when I do calculate things, I choose to only calculate based off the expenses of the items that actually sold. The rest I keep in an active inventory log and then have potential sales estimates to go with them. Sometimes it can take awhile for things to actually sell, which makes it even more difficult. I've had things sit for 2 years before finally finding a home. I might try and do a video on inventory management to go over this a bit more in depth for the January video challenge.
I would love a video with information about organizing and keeping track of expenses as far as your antique booth. I’m not very good with that type of stuff. Thanks for all the info!
I'm about the same as you with the expense records. Must. Do. Better. 😊
When I had a booth I noticed that if I was early putting out Fall and Christmas I sold more. People bought way more Fall in September and more Christmas in November. Lots of people like to decorate for Christmas on Thanksgiving weekend. I had anothe booth owner make a snide remark about how early I put out Christmas but when she put hers up in December she hardly sold anything.
I agree with you totally! The owner of the store where I have a booth encouraged me to put out my Christmas stuff in the second week of November. I followed her advice and did a phenomenal amount of sales. I had to restock twice! 😂
It can be a balancing act, but earlier is better for sure! Look at the big box stores, there is a reason they get their inventory out so soon and follow a pattern for when they discount seasonal products. We can learn from that, but maybe not have the need to replicate it to the extreme they do. I think you are on the right track with fall and Christmas. I personally love putting spring out at the end of February, Summer out in May, Fall in August and then Christmas in November before switching to a more neutral winter/base booth theme.
Keep up the good work and 2025 will be an awesome year for you. Thanks for sharing with us. Jo
Thanks for the encouragement, Jo! I'm excited for it!
Happy new year 🎉
Happy New Year to you too! 🎉
Great setup! I love the negative space- you can breathe and shop in your space! I’ve been “picking” for most of my life and as I get older and it’s more difficult to read price tags, I can appreciate a setup where I’m not prone to step on or trip over items. ❤
Merry Christmas
Merry Christmas to you too!🎄
