Question when scoring in the first chapter being her and the ghost third player had the same amount wouldn’t she only get three and aren’t the resources locked for the whole game so they wouldn’t have been removed?

Bougth this for christmas for myself and never had so much fun playing with people, because of it I decided to buy 7 Wonders Duel for my brother

I just got this game for Christmas and I’ve not yet played it but I have read the rules. I’m really enjoying the play through but I’m only 25 minutes in. Two questions … First, it looks like you guys are swapping initiative every time one of you Surpasses the lead card. But I don’t see this on the rules anywhere. The way I read the rules, you MUST play an additional face down card to Seize the initiative (or play a 7, which is not in play). Are you doing this right?! If not, it would GREATLY change the game for you two. Second, when you scored Warlord, you removed those two phantom 3rd player resources. That doesn’t seem right according to the rules, either. The main board says “Trophies return in Cleanup” but I’m pretty sure that references from player boards, not the main board. The rules say all these resources are “out of play” so I think they stick around as a phantom 3rd player through the whole game. (Also, from what I found online, these things stay there throughout a 2 player game regardless of scoring. I think the rules are unclear.) Did you read something somewhere saying otherwise?

We house rule Hagal so that it doesn't gain points or resources and instead just serves to block agent and spy spaces and compete in conflicts. Also, I've only played 5 or 6 times (all at 2P) but I notice you might score points faster if you: a) Prioritise your deck engine earlier - so that's card draw, card trash, council seat, card quality; and b) Prioritise swordsmaster earlier to get that third action - and then balance those as best you can with not losing too much ground on diplomacy and conflicts. That'll mean that your mid-late game turns draw lots of good cards and allow you to do way more stuff, and you'll near-exponentially gain points (overtaking where you would have been with an early points lead but no good deck engine).

Epic CARD GAME forever.

Great playthrough of a 2-player Arcs game. This game is very divisive, but I love it because there is just so much interaction. I am involved and paying attention to the other players' moves because it will affect my turn. I don't feel that in many other games.

You played fuel cartel incorrectly. The supply (all available feul) goes onto the card. When you tax, it is taken from the card and held on player board. When spent, goes back to card. Owner of cartel can count fuel on card toward ambition.

On the first action 2nd battle it looks like three hits are rolled but only two were assigned?

Interesting Lists. I play alot of Solo but my wife will play now and then. Games she enjoys are Mandala (great game!), Jaipur, Lost Cites the Card Game and Azul (though can be especially mean at 2). I've also played Project L & Forbidden Island at 2 with a friend and really enjoyed them. Games we've played but didn't really get into include Patchwork (I liked, my wife wasn't so keen), Ticket to Ride (found it long & drawn out), Sagrada (a little fiddly and some of the Special Tools were confusing). One game I enjoy Solo but is actually a 2 player game is Targi - may be something you would enjoy?

Great playthrough, thanks. I noticed a small rules hiccup: when rolling the Traffic Dice (black) you did not place a plane as your roll exceeded the number of spaces left on the approch track - the rules say in this case you must place the plane token on the last space of the track(airport) - Flight Log, page 3 top right. Not sure the extra 2 planes would have changed the outcome or not as you had a reroll and lashings of coffee available to you at the end.

I appreciate the review at the end. You both made some good points. And I also am not enticed by space themed games. I have a few, but I prefer animal or medieval or farming or nerdy wizard shit... you get the gist. And BTW, your not a newbie anymore Kristina!

I loved Worms and have played several versions over the years. This seems like fun. It’s more random than the video game, as there is no skill with timing and aiming. It seems like it could be chaotic fun similar to ThunderRoad Vendetta.

Great play through as always!! I have been playing this on BGA quite a bit and I really enjoy it!!! Hoping that it shows up for me at Christmas, as my family has me under prohibition to buy any games until after the holiday. LOL

Great game play. I like the camera angle and the clear descriptions and demonstrations of what each player is doing. I think the background music could be reduced in volume by half. It was kind of distracting for me, but not enough to push me out of the video. You guys have excellent clear voices, really nice personalities, and you played the game really well. I'm going to check out more of your videos, for sure.

Harmonies will lure you in, making you think it's easy-peasy with the cute animals and simple rules. But you gotta keep in mind how to score not only your animal cards, but your habitats. Juggling the 2 as well as trying to make habitats work for different animals... 🧠 🥨 But it is SO fun and SO addicting!

I was yelling, take the red card, which unlocks 2 rings, which is a win and the wizard card, which is also an instant win, so a win win. situation. And then she wins anyways with the bonus.... lol, didn't expect that. I want this game! But I need to get my husband to like this, and he isn't really into boardgames... And I have nobody around who likes boardgames... But this game is fast and simple, while still exciting, so I have a 40% chance that maybe I can get my husband into this...

Hilariously, for a re-match due to game errors, the very first troop movement was done in error. At 1:40 you both misread the location symbols, and Kristina placed a unit in Linden, when the card only allowed a unit in Gondor or Rohan. The same card attacks again, despite the conversation about diligently checking for chaining at 23:20, when Kristina purchased a battle card she could have gotten for free from chaining the very same card that caused the first error, at 6:50. That card is jinxed. Not game breaking, though. Also both players missed a winning move in the last era due to unfamiliarity with the effect symbols. For Shawn, at any turn after 25:50 he just needed to purchase Mordor (how appropriate!), which would have allowed him to play a discarded race card, winning the game. And Kristina, after 34:35, could also get Mordor to get her last two rings, though she managed to do that anyway, so missing this play was most definitely a problem more for Shawn. Great stuff, was a good game.

Great video. Just got this game and playing tonight! At 24.06 could you not have taken the 2 rings moved up on the track, then taken another turn to get the alliance card via chaining?

You guys seem to enjoy these 2P head to head battlers, have you played Unmatched? There are so many different characters to choose from. We only have Bigfoot vs Robin Hood and the Buffy one.

The alliance tokens are so cool and powerful. I like that the game encourages you to seek these out even if you are not going for an alliance win.

Was anyone else yelling "the eagles are coming" for the last 10 minutes of the video!!? A 6th race symbol (feather from hobbit reward) could have been gained using the landmark she did eventually build to win, just much earlier. Fun game!

7 Wonders Duel is my favourite two-player game which means it's probably my favourite board game. This LotR instalment was a no-brainer for me, I'm surprised we haven't seen other re-skins; perhaps we will. Great play-through but come on guys, one of the world's best known intellectual properties and you don't take the three-minutes to Google the (very small number of) IP names?
