shooting my neighborhood on film
มุมมอง 2.3Kหลายเดือนก่อน
Recently I have been taking this new approach to choosing what I photograph and where. This video is about getting back to the basics: photographing my own neighborhood, Astoria, Queens, and doing it on 35mm film. Hope this video inspires you to start your own photo project, or just create some different photographs! Would love to hear what you think about these photos in the comments below! Fi...

This is a compilation of shots I took while shooting in NYC this winter with my new Sony A6700! I enjoyed testing out this new APSC Sony camera in a bunch of different settings. I put the shots together to tell a story about a Day in the Life of a New Yorker in the winter. All shots were filmed in 4k, using Sony SLog3, graded in Premiere Pro Gear: Sony A6700 Tamron 17-70mm F2x.8 Sony GM 24mm F1...

Street photography in New Orleans from my weekend trip with my girlfriend! There are so many unique characters around the streets of New Orleans that really make for interesting subjects for photos. We had some really cool weather conditions, including the low fog you see in the opening. Also some dense morning fog on another day. I decided to make this street photography video a little differe...

Siempre quise ver como lucía New Orleans. Desde que vi la película The Princess and the Frog
Hahaha si amigo
I loved this ❤
Gracias amigoo
I’ve never lived in Astoria. Heard it’s expensive. I live in woodside but never thought of taking pictures of my neighborhood. I love taking pictures in the city. Anyway, hope one day I will see you taking pictures by the streets of Astoria.
Woodside is great too! Especially Roosevelt Ave. A lot going on there. Definitely go out and take some pictures!
Absolutely loving these footages
Appreciate that! Glad you like it
Well done, beautiful!
Thank you!!
Dude that shot with guy in yellow on bike, magical! New sub!
Thanks! Really appreciate that
this was great!
Appreciate it!!
Great work! It's refreshing to see someone show their work without obsessing over the camera used to get it done.
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it!
Congrats on being the first photographer to shoot in Astoria...
Nice shots and good inspiration
Thank you!! 🙏🏼
Do you have any recommendations for me i want to buy a camera to shot street pics and gym videos is it a right camera?? And what lens do you recommend?? Thanks
Yeah should be good for that! The Tamron 17-70mm or the Sigma prime lenses are great
Nice video, and some sick snaps. That one from the skatepark I saw on the Gelatin Labs IG or newsletter is sick. See you around the streets!
Cheers man! And shoutout to Gelatin!
Beautiful work
Thank you!!
Great video, new sub earned.
Thanks so much!
Is it not different for every camera?
Awesome video man! Great photos. I'm also in Astoria! haha maybe I'll see you out there shooting one day
Thanks! Yes if you see me say hey!!
I’m a lifelong Queens, NY resident for 51 years and I never really thought to photograph the places and things that aren’t as interesting to me because they’re so commonplace. But you gave me food for thought: maybe I should be looking for and photographing those same things but with the mindset of capturing them in a way that accentuates their unique attributes and capturing the feeling of the community through the people in these shots. Btw, I love your golden hour shots and the shadows . The 28mm focal length is one of the primes that I recently purchased but thought about selling because i didn’t know what to do with it, but now you’ve inspired me. Thanks 🙏
Love that! Glad the video inspired you. And right, living around the NY area, it’s so tempting to always look to the iconic areas. There’s many different neighborhoods around NYC that have lots of character and should be photographed
This is a big no no in my neighborhood
based from ur username yeah i couldnt agree more 💀💀
Lol what neighborhood?
yea idk if I can pull this off in Jamaica, Queens 😂
If you can't document in yo own hood gang then that's a problem with yo energy and ability to intergrate yo self. I take pictures on 63rd and Cottage King Drive without no problems. You gotta respect yo hood before you document it.
which preset are you using
I’m using my own presets!
@@patflanaganphotography can you share?
Really enjoyable video Pat.
Thank you! Appreciate it 😀
Love the colors of the ice cream truck shot at 2:10!
Thank you! Was one of my favorites too!
BRO I WANT TO BUY IT REALLY BUT YOU HAVE TO TELL ME IS THAT TIMELAPSE IN SHOOT IN A6700 BECAUSE I HAVE SOME DOUBT ON APSC LOW LIGHT LIKE THIS IS ALSO APSC
Haha that was actually a time lapse previously taken on Sony A7iii. Good catch 😉
Why things look pretty old in Brooklyn like that?
For APSC lens which is the best Nd filter without quality loss
I use Freewell ND filters!
are you telling me that these videos are straight out from an APS-C Cam? , are ridiculously detailed and quality ! 🔥
Thank you! Yes they are 😊
Planning to change my 6600. Do you recommend I change to a 6700? Mainly to shoot food photography 😊
I've shot with a Moment Cinebloom diffusion filter on all my wider lenses for a couple of years now. The daytime effect is definitely less pronounced but I still keep it on because I like the slight softening it gives to the image - digital cameras are far too sharp for my liking (not that I've ever shot on film).
Gotcha! Never tried that one
That transition at 1:44 was tooooo nice
Thanks 😊
Great job!
Thanks a lot!!
Absolutely stunning with the music and cinematic drone shots!! Very nice work!!!
Thank you so much!
Does Lightroom support RAW files?
Good film 💯
Thanks!!
I have a6700 as a second body and it's great. With that universal tamron it's a good walking combo. Saved me a lot of money over the a7c II.
Hello Pat. I’m beginner street photographer from Belarus. Will be in Ireland on couple of weeks. I’m curious about photographing people in Ireland. Is it legal to photo people in Ireland? Thanks.
Shouldn’t be a problem in public! Read the room though of course ;)
I have this camera. Wow, you know how to use it very well. Great work! Love your style. I like the clips of scenes over POV. In my opinion, TH-cam is saturated with too much POV. You have inspired me to go out and to try and get better.
Awesome! Glad you that you like it. Yes get out there and shoot!
Been really having trouble between the Fuji XS20 and a6700. This video is really helping, thank you.
Glad it could help. What specifically are you having trouble with?
@@patflanaganphotography So I can’t decide between which one to buy, I get a discount on both so they’re about the same price. I want the a6700 for the af and low light capabilities, but the built in simulations of the Fuji really make me want to choose them. Overall it’s a tough choice.
i'm in the same dilemma, did you make a choice yet?
@@duamilli not yet, I’m gonna wait till the beginning of May to choose. Honestly if it weren’t for the presets I’d just go a6700 all the way, but from what I’m seeing online $50 a pack for presets that come standard on Fuji’s is insane.
I’m a Fuji user too (XE-4) so I love both systems! Can’t really go wrong. I do hardly ever use my Xe4 for video however. It’s mostly an everyday carry. Something I like to just have on hand anytime. My set up decision right now is Fuji for fun, travel, hanging with friends and family, and Sony for client work and/or video. Not sure if that would help you or not but that’s how I approach which camera I pick up!
Luts Please 🙌
