the best part...color theory actually has nothing to do with this situation, color theory is about how colors in art blend and how they can complement or contrast each other. Like say striking red on a blue background type deal. So the people saying its "color theory" yeah they are bullshiting

OBJECTION!!! The people pretending that they understand proper color theory is dumb. The color red has positive connotations but if nothing in the visual shape language of the thing says that the intention of the color is to be positive then its up to interpretation. Not to mention the shape language is asymmetrical and uneven, with sudden sharp turns which come off as threatening to our pattern coded brains. So my theory is it's actually not the color red that is what's so uneasy about this image but rather the appearance of ugly uneven streaks on the floor.

What's stupid is that I have an actual defense for why the trails would be painted red. My local hospital has wings indicated by a specific colour (red, green, blue, yellow) and lines on the floor showing which part of the hospital is part of it (blue lines leading through that part of it, etc) so this might just be the hospital trying to be helpful and not realizing the ways the paintjob would be taken.
