I love this, from when the fat kid pushes the villain (complete with comedy moustache) down the water slide, and he *shits himself* to the hilarious "grrr.. I'll getcha" overdubbed at the end of his petrifying ride. The whole film has a quality that reminds me of "Bad Taste". Which is awesome. Who needs Hollywood?

Rigoletto (1982) La Donna E Mobile / Bella figlia dell'amore (Pavarotti, English subtitles)
The Duke carries on as is his wont whilst Rigoletto shows his brokenhearted and confused daughter the truth of the Duke's philandering ways.. The cad! One of the more accessible pieces of opera from one of the few operas I managed to actually get into. Not least becuse the refrain of La Donna e Mobile sounds like "Elephants, Yeah!" but I digress :-P

So good it gives me goosebumps! Maestro Singing in Heaven ☀️🙏🏻
Gotta say, Gilda strikes me as ... not too bright. But that's opera!
Si, the Duke knew how to convince women, you can't deny him that...
Aside from Pavarotti, who are the other artists?? It would be nice to know their names. They all gave an incredible performance and ought to be recognized. I don't think that baritone singer was Nucci, who was the most prolific singer used in that role. Amazing performance altogether. Bravo!
The greatest quartet of all time 🤌🏼
Kiri Te Kanaue ??
No, Gilda is Edita Gruberova. Maddalena - Victoria Vergara. Others (except Pavarotti): Rigoletto - Ingvar Wixell, Sparafucile - Ferruccio Furlanetto.

I speak a bit of the Romance languages and require guidance from one w/a real grasp of Italian re: the libretto of "La Donna e Mobile" as the literal translation differs significantly from the English version as follows: From Italian to English it translates, more or less, as: The mobile woman / goes like feathers / mute of voice / and in thought But the meaning we get is something like: The inconstant woman / volatile as feathers / inconstant in what they say and think My question is: Why the differences? I mean, what am I missing in the translation from Italian to English? Are those Italian words and phrases figures of speech that DO translate accurately to English as advertised, or is the truer meaning being lost in translation? Or what? For example: "Mute of voice and in thought" is a lot different from "Inconstant in what they say and think". So, is the original, like, capping even more on women than the English version, or is that just how Italians express these ideas? Italian experts, do tell.
0:35 Lois Punches Peter 😅😅
Pavarotti: 100% dope and performing "La Donna e Mobile" from Rigoletto (1982) in full apex-mode. Thanks, TMO!
Must have watched this 100 times as a kid. The bloody rewind button on the VHS players. My second favourite movie chase scene after Point Break 1991.
Pavarotti in this opera - he is not human, he is like a perfect musical instrument! Bravo Pavarotti! Bravo!

Oh, was he?
Dobro pjeva jebo mater
Beautyfull voices!
Agreed.
Yes! FYI On an off chance you don't know, the names of the other singers in this movie version of Rigoletto are Ingvar Wixell, Edita Gruberova, Victoria Vergara, Ferruccio Furlanetto. Also, at one point I saw the full movie here, someone uploaded it. I am not sure if it's still here.
I am in complete agreement. Who can top this apex-level performance?
Bravo
1982 is mijn geboorte datum 🤣😂🌹🎼🎶🎵
So does that make you Gen Y, or...? But yeah: Lucky you, a child of the 80's. Nice.
I remember being a kid when this came out and EVERYONE wanted a bmx bike afterwards. Even as a kid during this scene I was thinking “No! They’re gonna rust!!!!” 😂
The name of the soprano, please.
Edita Gruberovà
Leo Nucci just isn't powerful enough! I much prefer Ingvar Wixell. I also (I know it's probably sacrilege to say it), but I also like Gruberova better; I was never really a Sutherland fan.
Luciano's rendition of "La Donna E Mobile" is a classic.
"You are correct, sir!" - Ed McMahon to Johnny Carson
This is bizarrely wholesome.
I think this is the only time Lois is in stocking feet.
Im always amazed at Pavarottis voice It was so damn beautiful!!!!
Agreed!
Spettacolare, meraviglioso.
Indeed!
If you told me that Lois constantly cheats on Peter after this scene, I wouldn't believe you.
I'm sorry but did i just see peter being a good person to louis for once?
💖💖💖💖
Listening and listening to this performance of "Bella figlia dell'amore"' I am increasingly convinced of the truly transcendental nature of Pavarotti's same performance on the piece but with Sutherland...
You are correct, sir!
Absolutely stunning. Miss him a lot.
@LastHussar: I know, right? I say this with regret as my interest in opera didn't fully bloom until after his passing so never saw him perform live. And as William S. Burroughs wrote, "Nothing left now but the recordings." Ah, but such recordings! So yeah, what you said: Stunning.
@@michaelkottlerSame. Before the age of about... 18, I was a complete philistine. Now, I can't listen to pop music for more than about 20 minutes. It could never reach the depths that this kind of music and singing does.
Maravillosas voces ,e interpretación.Gracias, gracias , gracias.
Absolutely, although some of the English translation seems incorrect as in not quite a literal (or even appropriately figurative at certain points) translation but the overall meaning of the libretto remains intact.
Bravo
Isola Jones was the best.
Yes, she was wonderful. But Victoria Vergara here is pretty good too.
Yes!
"MyTimeless Melody" Woman is fickle Like a feather in the wind She changes her voice And her mind Always a lovely Graceful face In tears or in laughter She's always lying Woman is fickle Like a feather in the wind She changes her voice And her mind And her mind And her mind He who trusts her Is always miserable He who confides in her Has a reckless heart But he never feels Completely happy Resting on that bosom He doesn't sip love Woman is fickle Like a feather in the wind She changes her voice And her mind And her mind And her mind
You do know the plot of the full opera, right?
It's interesting to note the many variances possible when translating this from Italian to English.

I'd love a relationship/marriage like this while talking about daily problems🤣🤣

Pavarotti as the Duke of Manuta, my city ❤
That's 100% Kool and the Gang.
Scenically, this is a masterpiece - look at their facial expressions while they sing. Impressive, considering that Opera is SUNG THEATER and here they are excelling at it 😍😍😍
Oh, are they? ;)
