Another 3.8 lover here, I'm struggling with the imminent departure of a 97 Park Ave Ultra, my last in a long line of 3.8's. I'm looking at a '14 Impala with the LFX.

So many know-it-alls. How many semesters of Organic Chemistry have you had? Can you even understand the Chrmistry analysis? Anybody can make a video.

Looks nothing like my 2nd gen traverse. So I'm not even sure if this applies to my 3.6.

I have a 2016 colorado Z71 and a part of the deal I got was lifetime free oil changes. Engines fine, brakes are starting to groan and squeak but anything engine related is good so far.

South Texas with a 3.4L v6 Twin Turbo amsoil signature series it is. Used Amsoil SS on my tundra 5.7v8 she loved it ran so smooth 10k oil changes. might shoot for 7.5k with the 3.4L TT and get it a sample tested.

Check out valvoline restore and protect oil. In time it will actually remove the sludge.

3k is a usual target for my vehicles. I don’t care what the manufacturer says. They want me to blow it up by listening to them so I have to get it fixed or buy another one. I have changed oil at 500 miles already and much lower in my corvettes. Also just picked up a 2014 Buick lacrosse with one owner and about 4200 miles oil changes. Runs like a top buuuuuttt, I’m still thinking of adding 2 oz of Lucas oil , oil stabilizer and stick to 3k mile oil changes , currently has 59500 miles bought it yesterday!! 😂

I have a 2012 impala with the 3.6 lfx. I change oil and filter every 3000 mi. with mobile one full synthetic. I drain and refill the trans once a year.I also installed a catch can and did the pcv drill mod when I first bought it the car. I have driven it 11 years and not one minutes trouble from it. Knock on wood.

I have a 2021 Chevy Colorado Z71 and before I bought the truck I had looked into the engine and was under the impression that the truck version of this engine does not have the timing chain issues, at least not to the same degree, that the “regular” version of this engine has had. Anyone know anything about that. Can’t remember off the top of my head where I went down this rabbit hole o the internet.

I do oil changes every 3000 on all my cars and trucks. I get over 300,000 miles on my vicks. No issues

I’m a penny pinching tight ass and have been one all my life. I’ve used a lot of Walmart Super-tech with apparently great success.my vehicles are always high-mileage purchased used. I’ve tried to do my best when it comes to vehicle maintenance, but often fallen short. I heard about Amsoil year ago, but always assumed it was overpriced. However, recently have had the nagging urge to make a switch. My 2012 GMC just turned 200k. I’m shooting for another 100k. I also use a lot of old power equipment that gets a lot of abuse. I’m ready and able to give Amsoil a go, so time will tell. Great video!

As the Oui Geek says : application should drive your choice. To just scoot around in mid weather regions, any oil will do but figure-in towing, mountaneous terrain, extreme temperature and then, premium oils like Amzoil are called for. You got to further research the question as those 2 oils do have different additives packages but more importantly, there are made from different base oils.

So if I just stick to the old school 3k miles the engine will be fine?

I agree supertech does the job. I live in Canada and used to have a car running propane, often the temps would drop to -30c (-22f) and the car would start with out being plugged in (block heater).

This is very important information for a 3600 owner. The 3800 is a better engine. Just a little note here: It is not a PCV valve. A Pollution Control Valve Valve? It is simply a PCV. Also the 3600 is not a motor, It is an engine. But this series of videos is very good. GM should recall these vehicles to modify the engine breathing system. And they should also replace the firewall valve cover gasket. The new ones have a flange that improves the engine breathing.

I’ve used supertech for years no problems in -50 degree weather of course I always plug it in or leave it running

I wouldn't call Amsoil a high marketing company. No way compared to top oil companies

Plastic timing guides can't be bullet proof lol I just did a gm product timing system 4 cyl plastic guides wear out and break it's stretch and plastic combined no amount of oil changes fix plastic it will get brittle and break eventually❤

Buy it cheap and change it often. 2.5k oil 4-5 k oil and filter your engine will last 300-500K at a fraction of the cost.

I own a vibe GT 2.4L Toyota. Drinks oil. Conv oil burns slower. I believe all I can do is a piston soak.

Over kill is a funny term,Jesus would use amsoil,just not the signature series,lol

i have 4 cars and use supertech full synthetic high mileage and mobil 1 extended filter for many years. Always change oil and filter every 5k miles, and have never had any issues.

Amsoil is all inuse in my tuebi diesel wifes crv and all my motorcycles its thw highest quality oil you can buy it has nithing ti di with marketing and everything to do with thw way it performs and nothing to do with the cold weather

Funny thing is i saw an extended review of multiple oils and amsoil flowed the slowest when cold😂

The newer engines don't have the timing chain issue. 2013 and up, you're good.
