How Disciplined Stretching Changed My Body - A Personal Journey
Today I'm embarking on an extremely intimidating journey-I'm going to stretch for 5 hours every day, for 7 days. The reason? After traveling across the country, spending countless hours on planes, in cars, and lifting hard in the gym, my body has become incredibly stiff. I've always had decent flexibility, but now I'm on a mission to dramatically enhance it. Throughout my life, I've learned again and again that the key to gaining skill in any area is complete immersion.
As a martial artist, stiffness is more than discomfort-it's a direct risk of injury. That’s why I'm pushing the limits to see how much I can increase my flexibility, reduce injury risk, and hopefully, improve my overall performance in martial arts. Throughout this week, you'll join me on this intense journey. Expect in-depth insights into stretching techniques, a better understanding of our bodies, and explorations into the history and cultural significance of stretching in various societies.
Whether you're a fellow martial artist, a fitness enthusiast, or just curious about what intensive stretching can do for your body, there's plenty to learn in this video.

Thanks, I appreciate that! I wish you the best of luck beginning again. This journey is all about self-discovery. I think that training alone should be in everyone's basic foundation. Age doesn't matter, I always say it's best to stay in your own lane and focus on your personal limits and obstacles. I feel my knee every day I train, and sometimes it's too sore for me to even walk. Cheers 🍻

@@CalebCormac I think I can help your sore knee Cormac. I myself have had terrible gout for years. They thought it was the drink. I tried cherries 🍒 for a month and it worked but came back. I was in agony and they had me on the steroids. Then about 3 weeks ago I went fruitarian. I had been vegan before and that didn't work either. But I found when I cut out the grains and wheat and dairy completely the gout hasn't come back. Not everyone wants to go fruitarian though. I still cheat a couple of times a week and I get away with it. If you are interested I am here. Good luck

Firstly, this is a very well done video. Not sure if you have trained in JKD or are self taught? In any case, I commend your drive and eagerness to learn. As a (UK based) certified JKD instructor, I do want to comment on the defence section of this video. Blocking, whilst good to learn, is not desireable and should be a last resort. Firstly, a good defence is using good footwork and evasive manouvres including bobbing/weaving, slipping to avoid being hit in the first place, second comes parries , deflecting shots that you were a fraction to late to avoid entirely (or to aid when closing the gap in a simulateous parry and hit ), and lastly blocking (which can be painfull, requires more energy and takes longer to counter from). . If you want to talk more PM me. Good luck with the channel.

I wouldn’t go too deep into the philosophy of JKD. It is first and foremost a martial art meant to end a situation fast. Too many people go down this path and lose sight of what JKD is. Too much reading and thinking, not enough training and doing. It has principles, body mechanics and footwork. If you want to know more about what JKD really is follow John Paul Daily and watch his most recent live steam, simplicity, directness - non classical. You will learn a lot. Also look into Thomas Marx JKD and Tommy Carruthers. Tommy is easily the most talented JKD guy around.
