What’s the Best ZZ Plant Soil Potting Mix?
มุมมอง 12Kปีที่แล้ว
The best potting mix for a ZZ house plant is going to be a partial mix between potting soil and cactus soil mix. On average most people keep this plant in a soil mixture of 60% regular potting soil and the other 40% a cactus soil mix. By adding that cactus mix you’re ensuring that the soil is going to drain very fast. The ZZ plant is used to drought seasons and that’s why we need that soil to d...

Why Your Peace Lily Leaves are Drooping?
Thank you!
There's a lot of false information out there about these plants but people have heard it so often that they believe it to be true and pass it on without actually testing it, this video is a perfect example. 1) A root-bound plant will grow slower than a plant with more space, that pot is no 'too big'. 2) Taller snake plants are NOT achieved by providing more light, they are a symptom of not getting enough light. The leaves will elongate in an attempt to reach sunlight, this is common among most plants. 3) The 'No direct sunlight' is one of the biggest snake plant myths out there, my plants receive about 10 hours / day of direct summer sunlight and they love it, they grow fat leaves and are constantly sprouting new shoots which eventually I separate into their own pots. These things grow in equatorial regions which have more intense sun than 99.9% of people growing these. (You should build the number of hours of sun up slowly though if your plant has not experienced it before). 4) While you are correct that you should allow the soil to dry completely before watering again, the 'once a month' is a completely arbitrary number. Snake plants are grown in a wide range of conditions from full sun to a shaded corner and as such it's not possible to apply a random number of days to leave between watering. I have ran tests with similar sized offshoots on different watering schedules and while receiving full summer sun my shoots which were watered once a week grew a little more than those watered every 2 weeks and a lot more than those watered once a month. The difference was huge. I understand that content creators feel the need to push out videos regularly, but if you try and stick to things you actually know about your videos will have more worth.
Dose it matter what kind of sand use
I use tap water but I let it sit for 24 hours or so and there doing fine
What soil shall I buy to repot this plant?
I just got mine from home Depot do I need to change the soil ?
Overall, my ZZ looks healthy but there is a thick brown crust on the base of some leaves where they meet the stem. Is this a disease? Can I email a photo??
I just use garden soil
Thanks! My photos was not getting enough light!!! ❤😊😊
Oh wow that’s a lots of plants
Filtered water?
I'm starting one outside like this, had four in the past they did well & fish had babies. Two feet deep pond and my goldfish Wintered in North Carolina, ice melted & they were fine.

You nailed it, my Pothos living in water had reached the end of its lifespan. Thanks!

I have it on a kitchen window cill . Am in the uk so not good weather it’s miserable an rainy at the moment. I really want to save her , any other advice please?

Will loam soil will work too?
Thank you 😊
What type of soil I use for repotting???
Mine looks droopy even i watered it 😢
Not all are invested and remember you can return up to 1 year after purchase. Keep your receipts
Mine was in a pot like that and had the same size, a year ago we transferred it to the garden, sunny, rain, hot, cold weather, it's about 2,5m high. Beautiful!!
Just bought a golden pothos plant on line. It arrived with yellow leaves, black tips on the leaves, as well as black areas on other areas of the leaves. Also black areas on the vines. Is this from transportation or did they sell me a sick plant? Would appreciate your opinion on this. 🤔 Thank you, have a great day.
Home Depot had a grip of huge adansonii and they had spider mites so bad the entire top of the soil is covered in webbing.
Try a little hydrogen peroxide to prevent root rot.
Super helpful for a beginner like me, thank you so much!
Can i mix carbon to with the soil???
I went to move it closer to the sun and the only green leaf left fell off. 😔 I’m devastated! I love money trees. It still has buds so I’m going to put it in my window seal and see if those sprout. Fingers crossed.
This was a very helpful, short and to the point video. Thank you
Mine do great with approximately 60% potting soil, 20% small bark, 20% perlite, and a bit of charcoal.
A few times a month is too much water even Depending on the lighting and where you live but they aren't too thirsty I water mine maybe twice a month And I'm in south California. One gets a lot of direct and indirect sun the other full day time of indirect They grow like crazy just don't drink a lot
I water my Money tree when the soil is completely dry. I comes out to about 1 or 2 times per month.
I just picked up a black queen zz I'm excited to see it grow!
I disagree they sunburn easily and bottom watering has worked best for me.
My zz plant's stem gets only 2 or 4 leaves max. What may be the reason?
Okay, thank you! Trying to stop the sabotage over here, started giving more light AND, will next start bottom watering. Do I bottom water and leave the water or do I set it in water and leave it for a short time?
Just like 20ish minutes, then remove.
You can put the pot in water and then let it drain before placing in your room. Personally i put a lot of water on the soil in the pot, without arousing the leaves and then let it drain for 10min. I do it 1/week (or put your finger 1cm in the soil and arouse if it is dry)
Is it possible to have too much light? We have ours in the window, so it gets all day indirect light from the sun, but it still gets pretty bright. Since I doubt lighting is the problem, I think maybe the pot might be too big because we got the potting mix from Home Depot on the recommendations from every source we found.
Why does everyone talk so much?
3:00 you are welcome 🙌🏻
This is why I hate influences on TH-cam! One says direct light this one says indirect light?😂😂 People do your own research
