The distance from Strafford International Station to the London Stadium is 0.6m: an 11-minute walk. One of London’s relatively new stations, however, highly debated, especially when it comes to its name and not having a direct route onto the European continent, instead providing options to join the Eurostar services at London St Pancras. #railway #trains #footballstadium

The story of Stamford Bridge could be described as a butterfly effect of Gus Mears and his dog. Some have suggested that without this dog Archibald Leitch would never have designed the new Stamford Bridge and there would be no Chelsea FC. Thank you for highlighting the fact that CPFC as it is today was formed in 1905. For the last few years, the current club have been pretending that the club formed in 1861 are one and the same. This has been done purely as a way to sell the club as one of the oldest in the world - it is simply not true.

    Excellent work... at 2.48 the 4 terraced houses at the top of the picture (Paxton Rd) and the 4 in the bottom right (Park Lane) survived after expansion right up to when both ends were redeveloped. A couple of residents refused to move house and stayed until their deaths, before the properties were consumed by expansion.

    Even though I am in Liverpool, I love the history of football grounds across Britain. As a kid -teen ager and adult when football match were on tv, I looked at the Grounds as well as The Match. My very first away (Division One) match was at Highbury as a 15 year old in 1980, my mates said "how do you know all the parts of the ground" ... My very first away game was at Sealand Road stadium of Chester City as a 10 year old in 1975.

    That terrace looks massive, probably bigger than the east terrace at Charlton. I remember my dad telling me that he went to a war time cup final at Stamford bridge in 1943, Arsenal v Blackpool, official attendance was quoted as 55k, my dad said that was way off, more like 75k. This is more than believable as Stamford bridge held over 80k back then.

    Without doubt the most rowdy ground & most full on intimidating atmosphere of any ground in not just England but the U.K on its night. Only Elland Road, Leeds & Ibrox comes anywhere near it. The Old Den is talked about but noise wise this has been louder. Arguably not quite as nasty but decibels wise once the chant of MILLLLLLLL… gets thundering around the ground after a goal against big game/ v bigger opponents there is nothing like it. No need for flags galore all gazette Italia style here.

    West Ham are the last team to win the FA Cup as a second division team. They should have also won the 2006 FA Cup final, Liverpool didn't really deserve to win it, that goal from Gerrard was a one in a million shot and then they win on penalties which is a lottery.

      Yep definitely know what you mean, I tend to steer clear of social media. As we all agree football has been around before 1992! Even my history teacher (a Chelsea fan) bantered me about the empty trophy cabinet in the 2000s! Like most you realise that it’s very difficult to win the big trophies, still cannot believe Spurs were in the Champions League final in 2019: I’m still scarred by the late 1990s early 2000s 😆 I hope my angle of joining it all up, fan rivalries aside, showing the London club histories are fairly unique and with those shared identities & histories might get people having a look.

    1982 was my first memory. All of 7 yrs old, Spurs sweatbands and Chas N Dave. Couldn’t remember the match though. Which is why I was heartbroken after 1987 and couldn’t understand (then) why we lost. 4 yrs later, we won it on a fuelled post Italia 90 euphoria. Since then, its priority faded which upsets an old geezer like me. We were synonymous with this cup so a 33 yr absence is incongruous. If we were a midtable outfit with nothing else to play for, who knows. But the cup final was THE match we wanted to reach the season pinnacle of. With wall to wall football the fans of the 21 century think success is 4th place and £££. Anyway- we’ve got Burnley in two days. Here’s hoping 🤞

    • @StadiumHotdogTV
      @StadiumHotdogTV ปีที่แล้ว

      Spot on. The FA Cup for me is the best competition and also being a Spurs fan it feels like the Holy Grail! Since 1991 Spurs have lost 8 FA Cup semi finals! I was at the Spurs Pompey semi final in 2010 and former Spurs Kevin Prince Boateng sealed it with a penalty after extra time. For me the FA Cup should always be taken seriously and respected. Even in the mid 2000s when I was still at school sometimes the FA Cup draw took place on a Monday afternoon: everyone in my 6th form crowded round the telly in anticipation. Perhaps time has changed and it’s all about the Champions League, however, with format changes it just solidifies the elite clubs route for the latter stages. Rant over 😁
