This is the perfect video I was looking for. I bought a Springfield 1911A1 Target 9mm and i'm going to replace the front sight with a fiber optic. I wanted to be sure which direction to remove the sight and install the new one. Also showing that there is a pin in the front sight to drift out was great. Thanks for posting. 😉

A lot of bad reviews on these TruGlo sights and evidently customer service is nonexistent.

So, if the original front sight had a roll pin, is it not necessary to install another sight with a roll pin?

I know this is from four years ago, but when buying your first firearm- like I just did l- when I go do my safe handling demo- can they help or do they have to just stand back and watch you handle a firearm you’ve never handled before?

does safe handling requirement apply to bolt action rifles or pump shotgun?

Fantastic demo! I am a first time gun user let alone buyer! Went into the range on Tuesday, practice for about 2 hours with dummy rounds until I felt comfortable and getting used to the hectic explosion of noise. Came Friday, drop by and took my FSC test and failed one question (must be 21 to legally buy a long rifle). Apparently California updates its gun policy but I forgot all about it. Went straight over to the handgun section. Bought myself a browning buckmark camper and now I am waiting to return to demonstrate my gun handling. Hopefully I don't fumble too much as when I get nervous, I tend to fumble and forget.

Thank you. What if the pistol is an uncommon variety with a cartridge that the shop doesn't carry in the form of dummy rounds? I planned ahead and bought some snap caps, but they aren't painted and look like regular ammo except for the rubber inserts. Should I bring them with me or no?

Roll and rack seems less safe than approaching the slide from the hammer/breech end than moving from muzzle down with your weak hand. You can still roll approaching from hammer end without the risk of negligent discharge into your forearm. Besides, the ejector is designed for ejection without gravity and you'll soon find out if the ejector didn't do a good job because you should be about to check the chamber, verify the feed path, and observe the bore
