Me too. I have been working for 15 years and i have nothing too. I got married, we started to have something and boom, our saving is gone to help our main family. I found our generation is paid with so low salary. It cant sustain even a family with 1 kid. Crazy living cost everywhere.

You should get married. There will never be a time when you have solved all your problems, so that cannot be a prerequisite. Life is easier when two people work together. And if you ever want children, you cannot wait any longer. In the meantime, you should let your mom help you. You will never fully repay her for raising you, except by being happy and maintaining your relationship with her.

I graduated from American Culture and Literature with a BA degree in 2003. 45 year old happy loser here. :) Got my teacher’s certificate from another university and worked for several years as an exam teacher in the private sector. The problem is that in Türkiye studying in an academic field is like slow suicide if you’re not appointed to a state school or university. In this day and age vocational fields have more to offer in the labour market. Same thing in the US. Unless you’re studying to be a medical doctor or an engineer, it’s not worth going to college for social sciences. Accounting and all other vocational jobs are still better than most academic fields.

Let me have some words of encouragement for you. You have your health. Some people after 16 years of work lose their health in exchange for money and no money are worth your health. It could be much worse. Do not be hard on yourself. Most people do not have it easy on Earth, I assume this incarnation here was not meant to be an easy ride for most souls that end up here. Everything happens for reason. Cheer up.

I’ve also worked for 16 years in marketing and advertising. I don’t have much, but I have a family, a roof over my head and I get to indulge in small pleasures like buying myself a drink every now and then. It’s certainly not much, but in some ways, it’s a lot, and I’m grateful.

Some lessons that we can take away from this: - Never live beyond your means - Pay yourself first - put money into your savings no matter how small - Be extremely careful when using credit cards, remember borrowing small amounts is a healthy way to use credit. Do not max out credit cards beyond what you can pay back - Never give up hope, keep going becos things can always get better

It seems like the credit card debt has triggered you a bit- that is totally understandable. From your account, there were at least two cases where the employer went out of their way to try to retain you, which is a very good signal that you are a desirable employee with marketable skills. It also sounds like you turned down the opportunity to keep the last job because something was intolerable to you. Many people probably would have forced themselves to stay with that job to avoid the financial insecurity that you are experiencing now. (And it is those people who often become vile.) If you can figure out what was intolerable, it might help you to find a position that fits better, or go out on your own as a freelancer. It sounds like you have a good resume and will have opportunities in the future, if you can keep going through this rough patch. I wish you all the best. It seems like times are tough everywhere, here in the US too. It's not the Land of Opportunity that a previous generation was raised to expect. I hope we can all work to make the world prosperous and peaceful for everyone.

hi! as many who have come across this video and heard that I have adhd said, being able to hold down a job is a completely different game than for those with "normal" brains. I didn't resign just because I got bored, but they burned me out for a few months and pushed me to the point. I wanted to leave and do my own thing and when they heard this is the reason I want to go, they insisted saying the things I say in the video. I tried a couple months more but saw they didn't respect my boundaries with the new terms even when they said they accepted them. that was the last straw that made me actually resign. I am doing fine now since this video went somewhat viral. some lovely people helped out with an amount that will help me out for some time. I will get my state sorted out in the meantime. thank you for your comment
