Are you saying you have never worked on an fj cruiser?
@@emas1502 LOL!! Certainly not. This was however my first Hummer EV. I will say they are remarkably similar though and a lot easier than both the FJ and the H2.
Good to know. Appreciate your content.
Nice clean shot , and clean set 📸👌
Nice work, big boss 🛠️💪🏻💥✊🏻🏆
Lol "stuffing it" that canter part of the hood comes off super easy. That way next time it should help you out. Not that you need the help. You did great.
I've done a couple of these trucks and honestly it reminds me of the toyota fjs.
@@mikesgarage4457 …but easier. 😁 it’s like an FJ and a Hummer had a baby. an electric baby, but a baby just the same.
@@autoglass_help_line vary true no top molding to mess with lol
I could be wrong, but that cowl looks a little warped at the gap, maybe the glass is too. Bummer but what can you do?🤷🏻♂️, just hope it wont turn into a warranty & maybe the customer dont notice it or hear a whistle.
Air noise? Thats gonna be a water problem
@@malcolmisk00l that too probably.
Gr8 video as always. What the thickness of the shields you use plz was going to 3d print some and see what they come out lik
@@Aaron-d2k7b I get the small shields from WRD. I’m out right now, but just take my time making sure the line is laced properly around the glass.
I bought a few sheets of Styrene .020 thickness from Amazon and cut them to the sizes I wanted. They work perfectly 👌🏽
@@Don-Auto_Glassing I’ll have to look into that. Thanks!
@@Don-Auto_Glassing cheers m8 I have a look
@autoglass_help_line nice one I also have a look thanks m8
Cut windshield out with original assembly assembled & attached torch new one off of nee glass allow new glass to cool finish prep work then Kling on the old fully assembled bracket to new glass done problem solved just don't glue it on upside-down only way to do it
Yip they suck!
Omg man first time i dealt with it and ended up urethaning the mirror and leaving it taped lol
I usually take glue from inside a piece of new molding and put it on the white tabs. It holds in place while I'm putting the metal piece in.
love it
lol. Nothing like an old-school Lexus.
Nooooo thanks, haven’t seen one in a few years. Still holding onto an extra set of clip and ball bearings 😂
use some butyl glue to hold the white clip and silver ball in place
why don't you shoot videos like with jeep compass? It's interesting to watch!
@@legiusha I’ve had requests for just that and I plan to do more of them to fill the gaps between specialized videos. I’m getting a little reorganized after being at Auto Glass Week. Will be posting more starting next week.
@@autoglass_help_line ok
what kind of grain do you use scotch- brite?
@@legiusha I use the red for cleaning/scuffing the frit or scratching the glass in the case of an internal frit. I use white for cleaning any residue off the glass because it won’t scratch the glass. I don’t know what the actual grit/grain is.
@@autoglass_help_line Thank you. today I had to install the glass alone using a quick set and there was a matte trace of a suction cup on the hood. I couldn't do anything to remove it! I don't understand what's wrong? should I moisten it with water so as not to spoil the varnish? or maybe the fact that the hood was recently painted? the hood is black. Have you ever had this?
@@legiusha I have not had this happen. I don’t use the Pro Set. However that has been one of my issues with it. The rubber on the cups getting grit in them or just the suction damaging the clear coat. It definitely could be because it was recently painted. Despite being “dry.” Paint takes a bit to cure completely. If it’s just scuffing on the clear coat you may be able to polish it out but if the clear is dented it will have to be sanded and reshot.
@@autoglass_help_line this is most likely the case. I'll be more careful. thanks
I use the proset but this system looks pretty useful too! Never cared to look into it. Looks easier than the one tech
@@jonstyles5707 Funny enough I used to say, if there was one tool I could buy from Safelite it could be the one tech. Since I found this I don’t need to. I can set everything I did with the one tech with this tool at a fraction of the cost. I’ve heard there are issues with setting under the hood with the Pro Set. I can set under the hood with this. Tesla, BMW, older Transit, C-Max…
@@autoglass_help_line I have never had a problem sitting under the hood with anything. Even BMW. When I have a BMW with a long dip under the hood I actually set the hood up and I use the pro set while the hood is up and it works perfectly every time
@@jonstyles5707 good to know
😂😂 If you work for a big auto glass company, I know you can't use a spatula to cut one side first and then push your rope in. But if you work for yourself, why not use a spatula first to avoid that.
@@essentialautoglassinc I don’t work for “big red” any more. I have access to more tools than I ever had there, which is great. That said, I use the fiber line tools as much as possible because I hate damaging the body, even if it is hidden by molding or rubber. I have power tools but only use them when absolutely necessary. The body shops I go to like me because I don’t do damage they have to fix and I like having that reputation. It’s worth the occasional pain in the butt to maintain that. 😁
Do you know if there is any kind of programming that needs to be done to the sensor or vehicle if the windshield is replaced? I have an Ascent with this sensor and the rain sensing function is not working.
@@axxis8203 if you had the windshield replaced, there’s a possibility that they didn’t replace the rain sensor pad. There’s a gel pad that goes between the sensor and the windshield that allows for the optical sensor to work. Sometimes they don’t get replaced and that could cause it not to work. But to answer your question, no, there is no calibration for the rain sensor.
🙌🙌🙌
Just purchased the wrd pro6 set-up, this was my concern about under the hood setting windshields, has this technique worked for most under the hood sets?
@@rogeliogallegos3458 Yes. This will work for the vast majority of under hood sets. Some take a little more adjustment than others so I always recommend a dry/test set to make sure everything lines up. I’ve set a Ford C-Max this way. The C-Max you have to prop the hood up about half way, same with the older Ford Transit Connect. There’s a Connect video in the library here.
At our shops we all run the bottom of the bead on the body, and the other 3/4 on the glass. Certain screens we run full glass, like subarus, vws, rangers etc. Makes the bead a lot nicer than full body beads and you really cant fuck it up.
@@Anthony_aus Actually you can. When I first started the guy that trained me was old school and showed me that. I had some early success with it but then wound up with a number of air leaks. That said, if you can nail it every time, that’s great. A couple of the guys at my shop still use it too. 👍🏻
@@autoglass_help_line between our two shops we have 8 techs doing 6 a day with the same technique and no issues. Plus it's a belron affiliated shop and that's how we are taught to do it. It's my preferred method for sure but at the end of the day as long as the cunt don't leak I guess who cares😂

@@BabyVampireThug I get mine from the Snap-On truck that comes by a shop near us because they hold up well, but I believe you can pick them up at almost any auto parts store, hardware store or Harbor Freight if you have one around you.
@@BabyVampireThug Also, just a heads up. They’re usually straight. I used a pair of channel locks to put the bends in them.

@@autoglass_help_line Good luck man. I competed in Best of Belron a few times while I worked for Safelite. I’m looking forward to participating in AGW in the future.
Little Excessive ,
@@andrewgonzales3715 Maybe a little, but sometimes the surface doesn’t stay flat. I don’t know why, but even though they’re the same style, BMW will almost always stay flat and even on the surface where VW/Audi will ripple. So I fill them a little more to avoid getting air bubbles on the surface when placing it back in the bracket.

@@martinsalazar9042 You can get them here. They ship worldwide. www.evoglasstools.com/product-page/base-handling-cup
May I ask if that is a 7-pin connector that you unplugged at 2:05?
@@johntsan742 The plug for the mirror. Honestly I didn’t pay any attention to how many pins it was. I can however check next time I come across one.
What cold knives were you using prior to this knife? I picked one of these up and honestly, I hate it and I wanted to love it. I feel like if the blade locked in, it would be a different story. To me you have far more control on traditional knives. I’ve been doing Autoglass for 24 years so before we had all the awesome tools we have now so maybe it’s just that I spent so much time with old-school cold knives.
@@jglassman1122 I had the Equalizer with the cable handle and some of its knockoff equivalents. The Equalizer was a great knife. It’s what I was trained with. I just seem to have better control and leverage with this one. Not all tools are for everyone. Honestly, if it doesn’t work for you, then it doesn’t. I can’t fault you for giving it an honest try.
Isn’t this just as useful as a stand kentknife?
@@craigbrooks2645 I’m unfamiliar with that one, or at least that name for it. I’ll have to look it up.
@@autoglass_help_line the blade your using is what we call a Kent blade in the uk
@@craigbrooks2645 Gotcha. We call it a cold knife or draw knife blade. The blade isn’t really unique. Ultra Wiz is just the name of the manufacturer. The star of this video is the handle I was using. The Rhino Knife. The handle will take any blade that style given the base is the correct width.

Attempted to push through on a newer Highlander, 3 beads wide after I finally pulled the glass.
@@cordcd7 The new Highlander glue bead is stupid. Almost like the auto engineers were like “how complicated can we make a glue line.
@@autoglass_help_line MFRs never cease to confound and irritate techs down the line. This one was done before, about a year prior. Looked like the tech ran 3 beads next to each other in the corner.
