    Are bream different in new zealand than America? This fly seems big for panfish, but i could be wrong

    Shannon - have you considered putting the hook on first and binding it on or using heat-shrink as the first step, then re-seating the shank in the vice with the hook just behind the jaws? I haven't tried yet, but am going to give it a go, because I think that it will allow two things - an easy way to attach the hook that doesn't require tubing, and allows binding wraps for the prawn eyes and flash a bit closer to the hook if desired. It would also allow a dubbing material body on the underside over the opening of the shank where you slide on the hook. Just a thought... Your way the hook is changeable though, which might be worth it.

    This is an awesome fly and video. Lots of fly tying videos out there, but I love how yours puts the fly on the water and shows it catching fish. Very underrated video. Cheers!

    Great video. I just "found" your channel and ofcourse I subbed. Just 1 tip to save on led(free) wire, after I started to use an old bobber ( with the wire) I waste almost no wire.

    For better hooking, but no reduction in weedlessness you should put less of a bind in the hook. Ideally you should be able to follow the line of the bent section straight to the back of the bend.

    Could you add a Rattle Shannon? Where would you place it?

    • @TheXStreamFly
      @TheXStreamFly 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Emily yes you could easily place a rattle on the shank of the fly before you tie any material on. You can bind them on or use heat shrink and while it is still hot after heating it just tie thread on each side to hold it in place. I would only use plastic rattles it there was any chance the flat could hit anything hard and crack the glass. I hope that helps, thanks for watching.

    I catch a lot of luderick in the traditional manner, usually in more opaque water than the clear stuff you are fishing in. If fishing in an area where fish are not visible, would you use a strike indicator?

    • @TheXStreamFly
      @TheXStreamFly 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Steve Sullivan hi mate, I would not use a strike indicator if the water as darker or they were down deep in the running water as I always keep contact with the fly. The only time I would use one is in it was in still or very slow moving deep water
