Hi, I'm Mana!
I've been making arrangements of Touhou music in various styles for years, but I mostly like to make PC-98 arrangements (when I have time, anyway).
I'm also part of the Touhou fangame development group "Team Alternative Ending", where I mostly do engine development and other behind the scenes work that most people don't think about.
I'm not really good with words, so I'll leave it there.

[PC-98 Arrange] Deathscythe Paradise
Hi everyone, it's Mana. Once again it's been a long-- actually, let's just get right into it!
This is a PC-98 arrangement of the song "Deathscythe Paradise" composed by Wanwan for the Touhou fangame "Tri Focuser ~ Outside the Traditional World".
This song is truly one of the coolest Touhou-style original compositions I've ever heard. At least to me, it hits a lot of things that I find cool: metal, gothic, and it feels anime-like. Oh and scythes? Scythes are cool.
Anyway, a few years ago, I wondered what it would be like if, instead of sticking to ZUN-style PC-98 restrictions, I went all out and used every feature of the PC-9801-86 that I could figure out. The most notable "upgrade" is the usage of the PPZ8 driver, which allows up to 8 sample channels. This arrangement is the end result of my research and experimentation over these past few years.
Lastly, I wanted to say that this style of arrangement will not be a regular thing on my channel. Future Touhou PC-98 arrangements will likely return to the familiar ZUN style of arrangement that I've always done.

2:10 I don't know how I've never thought of this instrument as the ZUNpet replacement, I think I've been sent to the astral plane with this section
I normally use it for synths like Hybrid Saw, but I just had a feeling it would work particularly well here
there should have been a pixelated portrait of Minoriko on the side, as well as the Medic from TF2
I dont think reverb on specific channel is possible on PC 98, but ya still did it here with some trick.. Beside that, man, I love this song too, especially the SC-88Pro ver because of its darker sound
